    I can’t afford to start a model railroad of my own but even just watching people use them and watching them roll across the tracks is just calming and relaxing. As a sufferer of mental illness it’s a huge benefit and it would be a huge benefit for me. If I could afford to I’d do a little Sodor layout! Man I wish we had a charity like Mind in the US!

    It can't be over stated enough just how much this hobby does for people's mental health.
    It's helped me on so many occasions.

    Your best work Mike. Hiding behind a smile is very relatable. Returning to the hobby via TT:120 has had huge benefits for me. I face a challenge that I realised was making me ill. Building a model railway is so immersive it’s allowed my brain to cool down and relax. That in turn has allowed me to focus better and rebuild the self confidence I need to achieve a successful resolution.
    The power of a hobby should not be underestimated 👍

    Aw Mike, good to see you back, seems like it's been a while - here, have a hug 🤗
    The short running session was a nice touch, feels like that's a bit of an untapped source for content maybe? There's something settling and calming about just seeing trains go round; not everyone has space to benefit from that, but the channel has access to stock and layouts everyone could enjoy watching. Anyway, thanks for sharing this video, your experiences and all the good advice here within 👍

    Thank you so much for bringing this up to peoples attention. It’s easy to see someone physical injuries but with mental illness you can’t see anything. Not long ago I took an overdose but I’m not looking for sympathy. It was my choice at the time.

    Hornby, I do got a plan for fundraising for either mental health or heritage railway like making a model railway exhibition and ask people for donations to see the memories.

    We don't just turn to playing trains. There's one important thing you should have mentioned. Suffering in silence isn't the way forward. You must speak up to someone you trust, talking helps a great deal. Ever heard of playing upbeat and cheerful or dramatic music in the background? That's something I do when playing trains, so my subscribers have something to jig along to if they wish. Also, if you feel angry for no reason, punch something like a pillow, yell and scream all you want. It's important to make yourself heard. A great way to let off steam. If something upsets you and you feel tongue-tied, get a pen or pencil and write down how you feel on a sheet of paper. This is a wonderful ice-breaker. Do something that makes you laugh out loud. You'll feel better for it.

    Yes, i agree this hobby does make people happy, but prices drive people away! Lower your prices a bit, and dont blame inflation - other manufacturers can keep a benchmark price, and more people would come to the hobby! Great video anyway, i do love some of your products, as they can be awesome!

      Clearly don't understand what goes to manufacturing models and the current economic climate of the world.

    • @jackstrains4468
      @jackstrains4468 26 дней назад

      @LNER985 I do understand, but manufacturers like accurascale are producing higher quality models for a lower price - I don't think you can really justify 200 + quid for a hoenby loco, but then accurascale can produce a better one for 169.99? I do love hornby though, I think their models can be absolutely stunning, I just think prices drive away new hobbyists

      @@jackstrains4468 Clearly you don't when you refuse to understand the costs that go into manufacturing models and shipping models. The world still hasn't recovered from the pandemic and there is wars happening in the world which isn't helping matters. It is harder to chips for DCC decoders.

      @@LNER985 understandable, I'll admit, but then how does accurascale keep prices low?

      @@jackstrains4468 Plenty of Accurascale prices are high.

    The price of Hornby products - particularly in Australia - doesn’t do much for anyone’s mental health. Ditch SMS and go direct to the dealers to remove the delays and distribution margin! Sales might even improve!
