I just did this mod today and your video showed up in my feed. Strange but cool. I used all existing wiring to a toggle switch exactly where you mounted the momentary switch. It works great. I am a little irritated at the overuse of hot glue on this. I sliced through it with my separator tool. I am considering the Alice frame and motherboard mod in the future. As for right now I am thrilled with the new look with the Haslab wand.

Got the '84 wand, proton pack being delivered tomorrow. About to order your motherboard mounts for it.
Really looking forward to you wiring the wand in, as that's what I want to do as well, but the kits are pricey like you said. Hope you get it up and running soon!

@@wickedd365 I actually ended up doing a GPstar kit in the wand and DIY gpstar in the pack side. I have some other videos of how I did that as well. I fried the electronics in the 1984 wand messing with things, so GPStar was the only way to “repair” it and upgrade at the same time instead of buying a new wand again.

I have a a new circuit board in the works that will allow attachment of the 1984 wand with no modifications to control the spirit electronics.

If you find the power wires, couldn't just cut out the ones you don't need?

Yes, I just did this mod today and funny enough this video popped into my feed. I simply cut the wires on the spirit wand, ran the black and white to a toggle switch that I mounted in the ion arm in the exact spot where he did. I dead lined the red and orange wires for the proton blaster sound effect and the led at the tip of the spirit wand. They are still technically functional, I put electrical tape on the ends so if I want to find a way to restore those features later on it as easy as wiring them back into the circuit. All I wanted was for the charge up and shut down sound effects plus the cyclotron lights and the power cell lights to function. I don't need a blaster sound effect as the Haslab wand has awesome sound effects plus vibration. I also reused the tube already on the spirit pack and mated to the Haslab wand. I might do an Alice frame upgrade next. I am very happy with it now so we will see.

I want to do this same mod, so thank you for the video! What loom did you buy?
EDIT: I see the link. Thank you!

Hi Aaron. Great video. Can you comment on what gauge (awg) the wires are used in the jst connector? I plan to buy a pack and modify and I’m have zero experience and want to make sure I have the right components.

@@matthewdelgado9250 I believe I used a 24ga wire in mine. There are different style of crimps for the JST-XH housing that accept different garages, but total range is 22-30ga for the housing. The pins you choose will have specific ranges defined, but it seems like most will accept a 24-26.

Would it be ok to use a regular toggle switch to power it? I have a 1984 wand coming and I plan to put an a frame on the pack.

    • @seanblanchard3333

Yes, I used a regular toggle switch. When you toggle it on you have to toggle it back off as it is a momentary sense circuit. When you want to power it down, you have to toggle it back on then off.

If you put some isopropyl alcohol on the hot glue, it will come right off
