@@derekclawson5707 I think it's because of the anime dialog which is different than the source material. When taking into account power scaling and source information I rely on the manga first. The anime can sometimes make subtle changes that if interpreted a certain way can change the narrative of the story. If Kid Buu was any stronger than Super Buu, Goku and Vegeta wouldn't even suggest trying to take him down. In another panel, Goku says that his SSJ3 form would be able to overpower him but when he tried he failed because his body is no longer dead, therefore he cannot sustain SSJ3 long enough to defeat Kid Buu.
Literally the only line in the anime that suggests that Kid Buu is stronger than the other forms is when Goku says he's on another level compared to the previous Buus. Everything else pretty much follows the manga, even in the anime there's enough evidence to suggest Kid Buu isn't the strongest form of Buu.

The thing I feel like people don't realize about why Kid Buu is so terrifying compared to the others is that he is both feral AND pure evil. It's nearly impossible to reason with him or slow him down without currently entertaining him 24/7. You could do that with the other Buus, and with more intellectual villains like Freiza, who you're at least able to converse with better. Kidd Buu seeks out high power levels purely for enjoyment, and doesn't seem to stop at anything to get there, as seen when he was quite literally hunting down Goku and Vegeta, planet by planet (bless your heart if you're Kidd Buu's prey). He quite literally attempted to destroy the planet with no hesitation at all; no consideration on whether or not its resources even benefited him in the long run. He didn't care about enjoying its food, or seeing people's suffering, or any consequences. It was just a bug underneath his feet that he wanted gone, and when that plan was thwarted by Goku and Vegeta, he just threw an even bigger blast at the planet so they couldn't stop it. We've seen feral villains, and we've seen pure evil villains, but Kid Buu is the only one with both of those traits, and that's what makes him so terrifying.

Yeah exactly, that's really how it should've been. It's what Goku wanted too and would've been less effort than trying to get the entire planet to give away their energy. The whole theme of the Cell saga was passing on the torch, and that continued into this saga only for Toriyama to be like oh wait, no let's just have Goku be the guy again when we've been building Gohan's character in particular for the whole series.
It was going to be called Dragon Ball: Adventures of Son Gohan in the beginning anyway, so that's clearly what Toriyama was going for. He really dropped the dragon ball with this entire saga. People like to ignore GT and Super even existing, I like to ignore this saga existing and when I do re-watches, I don't watch after the Cell saga. It really was written as the perfect ending and is open ended enough to where you could draw your own conclusions from there.
Toriyama should've for the last arc just done a classic tournament like old Dragon Ball, we were built up with the hype of this tournament only for it to be nothing but Videl getting brutalized and a bunch of nobodies getting shot down in one punch. I love Toriyama but I seriously have no idea what he was thinking when writing most of this arc.

The Buu Arc actually makes a lot of sense, even the different personalities of all Buu’s.
You are correct in your order of power amongst all the Buu’s
Ultimate Buu-Super Buu-Kidd Buu-Fat Buu
However-what made Kidd Buu a menace was that he was completely evil. He didn’t show a plan, like Super Buu. Didn’t display arrogance like Ultimate Buu or wasn’t distracted from his goal like Fat Buu. He was evil incarnate.
Gotenks-lost because of lack of experience+childish+time limit.
Ultimate Gohan-lost because of arrogance.
So while Kid Buu wasn’t the strongest Majin what he possessed would’ve made him even more dangerous for Gohan & Gotenks. He blew the earth up right away!
I honestly believe only Goku and Vegeta had what it took to beat Kid Buu, which was experience.

I've always felt that Buu-Piccolo (Super Buu + Piccolo + Goten + Trunks) was slept on.
Sure, Goku states that Gohan would beat Buu-Piccolo now that SS3 Gotenks defused inside of him - but I feel that Piccolo's combat experience/skills and intelligence (let's ignore the miniscule power additions of Goten/Trunks) would have "guided" Super Buu to give Gohan a pretty damn good fight.
After all, it was Piccolo who trained a young Gohan and has trained alongside him many times. He would know of Gohan's fundamental habits and such.
Of course I would still pick Ultimate Gohan to come out on top - but it would have been very interesting.
At the end of the day, Buu-Piccolo technically "won" by outsmarting and absorbing Gohan, lol.

Would definitely give him a better fight than regular Super Bui. Techniques like Hell Zone grenade, Light Grenade and the Special Beam Canon could be dangerous to Gohan. And he should still have knowledge of the ghost kamikaze attack/galactic Donuts which are techniques that hit well above their weight.
That said, Gohan was almost effortlessly beating regular Super Buu. If he went all out, he could potentially still completely annihilate BuuCollo. Not to mention that he probably got a small Zenkai from when Dende healed him mid Buutenks fight.

I always felt like Kid Buu was never serious up until the spirit bomb. While I don’t think he’s more powerful than buuhan, I don’t think he’s much weaker than base Super Buu. Kid buu basically matched the power of who he was fighting just for the fun of it. He could have easily one shot Vegeta even as a ssj2 considering he fought evenly with ssj3 Goku but he kept Vegeta alive just to beat on him and torture him. Same with hercule. In the anime he fought evenly with ssj2 goku then ssj3 goku and during the whole fight he was laughing and just fucking around showing no sign of injury or fatigue. It’s really hard to tell just how much power he was holding back. Also something to consider is that if Kid buu really thought ssj3 goku was a threat he couldn’t beat if he got serious he would’ve tried absorbing him like he did the southern Kai

It’s hard to say, I’ve never been convinced Kid Buu was at full power vs Goku. He took no damage and never got fatigued when he fought. Kid Buu seemed to match the level of his opponent in order to have fun. We saw all the other forms of Buu fight at full power except for Buutenks & Kid Buu.

Another theory as to why Vegeta didn't want Gohan, Trunks, and Goten there fighting Kid Buu is in Vegeta's eyes as a warrior the boys had their chances to stop Buu and they failed because they didn't take the fight seriously from start to finish. Vs say when Vegeta decided to go one on one with Majin Buu he took all the senzu beans to regain his power and from the word go went full power all out even to the point of trying to take him and Buu out together. And Vegeta saw Goku go one on one with Majin Buu and had his body not run out of time Vegeta felt Goku would have won. Vegeta knew the boys as he saw the fights that the three of them never took Super Buu seriously as a threat because if they did they would have gone for the kill from the start. Simply Vegeta felt the boys had their chances and they blew now it's time the Prince of all Sayains his best buddy to get the win.

I also theorize (Meaning this may be my own headcanon) that maybe Vegeta figured that Gohan and Gotenks would play around too much, and something akin to Super Buu's absorption could happen again. Both had a really bad habit of not going for the kill immediately, and liked to toy with their opponents. I think Vegeta didn't want to risk that, for fear of something bad happening like what happened against Cell if they didn't kill Buu right away.

It's not really Gohan's fault that what happened did either, Goku is the one who distracted Gohan basically, sending him scurrying for the earring and then telling him not to put it on, and Buu baited the kids into their fusion. Gohan didn't want them fighting to begin with.
And you can't deny that Vegeto was toying with Buu as well, he was toying with him even more than Gohan was, just straight up flexing. He could've vaporized that Buu like he was nothing. It's understandable they wanted to get everyone out but look what that lead to? The entire planet being blown up and them all dying anyway. Should've just used the dragon balls instead considering Buu was so apt to change forms and plans and getting rid of him period was the smartest thing to do.

Well, Vegetto wasn't toying with Buu. The point was to get absorbed, which he was trying to taunt Buu into doing. As for the dragonballs, Vegetto had no way of knowing if the Dragonballs could actually separate the others from Buu. The final result may not have been what he wanted, but Vegetto's plan was sound. The thing that undid the plan was the fact that his fusion ended up not being permanent. If it had been, Vegetto's plan probably would have worked.

From a narrative perspective, Gohan already had his time to shine. From the Saiyan saga to Cell, it wasn't just about his power but his growth as a flawed person full of uncertainty. Goku unlocked new levels of power, which lead to revealing what Gohan's hidden power was really about in unlocking SS2. And finally going full circle with Vegeta's redemption, Goku being unable to access his full power when it mattered most so they had to work together. Everything INCLUDING THE AFTERLIFE was at risk of destruction. (no retconning Beerus etc here.)
Aside from this I think it would have been cool if after being revived and getting his bearings, Gohan called out "Supreme Kai! Take me to the fight!" Then everyone on the Kai's world stop fighting after feeling the burst of wind to see a massive aura in the sky.
Had Gotenks joined them it would have been nothing more than a gag fight for the lulz while waiting for the spirit bomb to form.

Toriyama was clearly burnt out when writing the Buu Saga. The cheap deaths of Gohan, Goten, and Trunks; the long drawn out powerup of Gohan and building him up to be the savior only to get a very (very) short dominant performance of Ultimate Gohan before the story wildly shifts back to Goku/Vegeta time.

Bruh the evidence is overwhelming that the something *like* the Spirit Bomb was needed to kill Buu. To keep this as short as possible, Gotenks, Vegeta, and Goku vaporized all forms of Buu on multiple occasions but he kept coming back even from being atomized and their Ki didnt drop
Vegeta specifically pointed out that Fat Buu lost energy after regenerating from Kid Buu's attack. He realized Ki couldnt harm Buu but different energy (in this case demon energy) can. Goku's Spirit Bomb is the only thing in Goku's arsenal with a non-ki based energy hence why VEGETA suggested the spirit Bomb which absolutely shocked Goku
Also Buu having God Ki makes perfect sense and I assumed that has always been the case because he absorbed a literal god. Supreme Kai, and Ultimate Gohan couldn't be sensed by conventional means thus proving God Ki was certainly a thing tho it was never given an official name

When they first see Kid Buu is one of the few times Kid Buu is actually calm at ease. At least at first he was. Kid Buu's normal state is basically rage incarnate. I believe if the comment about his Ki was made while Kid Buu was in his natural rage state the comment would have been much different. Kid Buu's stamina and regeneration feats far exceed anything Super Buu ever put on display. Their statement "we can take him" is instantly disproven the moment he's engaged in combat.

Vegeta is too calculating tactically to not take into account the likelihood that Buu may just absorb Gohan or Gotenks again. At that point there'd literally be no hope left. It was tactically more sound a plan for the two of them to take their chances with just they two against him. Goku after all in SS3 form should have easily been able to destroy Buu in this form, had he not been so fatigued. The only factor they hadn't anticipated.

I wouldn't say ki buu was that strong as you portray him to be. Kid buu and fat buu are relative, the only reason fat buu lost is because kid buu is more vicious.
Goku was confident in beating kid buu frame 1, but then buu blew up the planet. If you think Goku was underestimating Kid buu, note that Goku didn't want to fight Buuhan or Super Buu at all. The moment kid buu arrives he's back at being confident.
The only reason Goku couldn't beat Kid buu was because Goku wasn't dead. If he was dead, his ssj3 wouldn't drain his ki as much and he could've made an attack to kill Buu. He was also confident in beating Fat buu but nobody wants to disprove that even thought they're the same level. Even Vegeta compared them to each other as they fought, remember Goku and Vegeta can sense ki. Vegeta didn't fuse (mostly because of arrogance) because he was confident that a SSJ3 Goku would win, Goku knew so as well but didn't take account that his alive body couldn't handle ssj3.
Gohan is above ssj3 goku by a HUGE margin, and Gotenks as well. If they were to join in on the final fight Gohan alone(who beat up an even stronger variation of Buu) could wipe him out like kid gohan did cell. The only reason Buu was holding out against a spirit bomb is because Goku was out of power. Not because buu is over Gohan.

When it comes to the actual fight, he couldn't get it done. He told Vegeta he was fighting as hard as he could and he still couldn't reduce Kid Buu's ki even a little. We'll never know what dead Goku could have done, but probably not much more considering that he couldn't even hurt him at all. Being dead is kind of cheating anyway, so I don't see why it matters.

Kid Buu’s power is hard to gauge. He plays with his enemies so much and I think Goku and Vegeta even said they underestimated how powerful he really was.
Personally I always considered Kid Buu’s real strength to be the strongest of the base Buus. Meaning Fat Buu, Base Super Buu, and Kid Buu. But Buutenks and Buuhan being much stronger.
I personally think Kid Buu is in the neighborhood of Ultimate Gohan, but doesn’t exceed his power.

I think Super Hero also helps back all this. When advising Broly, he is told by Whis, Goku, and Vegeta that he doesn't hold back his energy. If he was to fight as he is, then the planet would be in danger. Kid Buu almost immediately demonstrates this when he just starts chucking energy balls with no concern for Earth's well being. He doesn't restrain himself. He goes all out no matter what happens. That lack of care makes him so dangerous.
Typically I click onto these videos (dragon ball content in general, not this channel) waiting for someone to state opinion as fact, only using old Z anime as proof, and so on. This video is well researched and there is nothing I can disagree with. It all boils down to Vegeta's pride. He has finally accepted being an Earthling and he believed "his race" should defend itself for once. I also think Goku even suggesting that "the boys" should be the solution should be evidence enough that they should be able to win. Goku had just gone toe to toe with buu and should know very well what he is capable of.

I guess maybe Toriyama thought since Goku and Vegeta were responsible for reviving Buu in the first place it'd be good for them to work together, but at the end of the day the planet saved itself, King Kai if you want to stretch it. Only time the spirit bomb actually worked. I like the spirit bomb idea but, I really do think it would've been better to have grabbed Gohan and the others.
I don't know, Toriyama's brain was crapping itself throughout the saga and you could really tell he was running out of ideas. They could've done so much with this saga, extended the tournament more for a real throwback to early Dragon Ball. I mean that's the whole reason Goku even came back, let us have a nice tournament to watch first instead of comedic matches that don't last long or Videl getting brutalized. And give us a few episodes after Vegeta's sacrifice to think it actually meant something instead of build up this hype only to destroy it.
This sagas pacing was just so bad to me, and all of the ideas. Goku: oh I let this monster come back and I think he killed my son, I'll leave it to 1st graders to finish him off without even knowing the full extent of what the monster is capable of. Toriyama: Let's make the boys fusion the new hope, oh wait nevermind, they're too childish. Ok, let's make Gohan the strongest with half of the arc focused on his training and potential unlock only for him to get absorbed and then blown up with the planet. I'll never forgive him for that. You don't just build up a character whose strength has been one of the primary focuses of the show and then decide last minute oh wait, it doesn't "feel right." Then why'd you make him so much more powerful fighting Cell? Just because he doesn't love fighting doesn't mean he can't be a hero, and apparently that's something Toriyama can't wrap his head around.
He'd better really make good use of Beast Gohan considering he's implying that he's the strongest character at this time. And that's with hardly any training using the form. There are just as many Gohan fans as Goku or Vegeta and we've been let down for years.

All that to say, u have to read AND observe because the writer has no reason to explicitly state the plot.
Like with fusion, it’s never explicitly stated why they needed to fuse but we SEE why. Gohan was assumed dead. Goku was already dead and Vegeta was newly dead. Goten and Trunks were the only saiyans left to the knowledge of the cast. When Super Buu started absorbing people, they needed to fuse. Goku still wanted to fuse before leaving and after freeing all the pods. That’s when the trickery happens.
The writer does everything he can to make u the reader imply that the plan worked for the characters while SHOWING u it clearly didn’t. Fans call these plot holes and bad writing when it doesn’t fit their agenda or they’re just casual lol
Look at how DBZ ended and see what the writer was telling u.
Goku uses the powerful version of his most powerful technique to kill Buu. We then see Kid Buu reincarnated as Uub, with all his power and potential, what 10 years later? Sounds like the writer saying Kid Buu was indeed the strongest Buu minus Tenks and Buuhan. Gohan being the strongest isn’t a point against Kid Buu being the 2nd strongest. If Toriyama had Goku ass-pull a new transformation I don’t think anybody would question that but THAT woulda been bad writing lol

If Goku went SSJ3 at max, and used a warp Super Kamehameha, he likely could have ended the fight right then and there.
Also, in the SDBH manga, Vegeta gets a rematch with Fat Buu, and obliterates him using dark ki. So it definitely is possible to eradicate Buu without the use of purely good ki, or with something like the Spirit Bomb.

What is funny is that technically the great final battle is really a nothing to lose battle for the good guys side, Think of it: If Goku and Vegeta fail and can't defeat Buu and the Spirit Bomb don't work either, there is waiting in the wings two fighters more than capable of ending Buu before things get out of control for the Universe again. This final battle is really just an excuse for Goku and Vegeta to cut lose and fight a mighty opponent with no real risk to the fate of the Universe, allowing them to fully scratch that Sayian pride and need for battle.

I would like to see someone power scale the humans in the anime. We know that Piccolo is stronger than a super saiyan 1, but probably not quite a super saiyan 2 so we have a decent range where he lands. Stronger than Goten and Trunks individually, but not as strong as Gotenks or Buu. But I would still like to see where the humans measure up in the anime.

You can’t be stronger than ss1. Super saiyan is a multiplier so ss1 goku vs ss1 gotten is two completely different things

Fair. Piccolo was stronger than goten and trunks as super saiyans since when they unfused Piccolo was the outward outfit on buu. He was stronger than super saiyan 1 Vegeta and Goku prior to their entry of the time chamber in the cell saga and he went in there too. Since he doesnt stop training he may have been closer to Cells power level than we think. And it sound like Gohan lost a bit of power due to sluffing of so I dont feel like Piccolo is a significant degree weaker than the saiyans is my main point

I disagree with your scaling regarding Kid Buu. When he was transforming into Kid Buu where did that power disappear to? You discuss this part in his transformation but moved right past it. This is such an important factor that is always overlooked. He was already that powerful and just needed to work back up to it.
Goku and Vegeta believed they could take him once he finished his transformation. Vegeta, a SS2, thought he could take Kid Buu. Obviously they completely underestimated Kid Buu. Goku states that he (Buu) was twice as powerful as he was before. Which version was he twice as powerful as? His initial Kid Buu form or Super Buu? Can’t be certain. But it’s obvious that he was more powerful than they realized and maybe his potential was all the power they felt when he was in his buff Kid Buu form. Meaning Kid Buu could be equal or stronger than Super Buu.

I wanna see an infinite Kamehameha. Goku's Kamehameha, continuously powered by both 17 and 18.
I wanna see an Special Beam Cannon Whip. Piccolo (or Gohan's) Special Beam Cannon continuously powered by both 17 and 18, making it so he can fling it around like a whip.
I wanna see Super Destructo Disk (or Destructo Plane). Krillin's Destructo Disk continuously powered by both 17 and 18, making it so that it heals it's self, gets stronger the more if flies, and doesn't stop on stronger enemies. Or as a Destructo Plane, it'd get wider and wider and wide, then crush/blaze everything as it slowly lowers to crush everything beneith it.Krillin an those he doesn't want caught in it can escape through a little hole in the middle.
