    Welcome to another KDP video, where I talk about how many books you may need to make money on KDP…. But why focusing on numbers may be the wrong way to look at things.
    In this video, I explain why having a large quantity of books may have had a significant role to play in why I’ve managed to make a full time income on KDP… But that is definitely not the whole story and I explain why in this video.

      I built and flipped a kdp account that I started in 2017. I was making between 4K to 7k ish per month. I had back then about 800 low and no content books along with kids story books. After selling it in 2021 on empire flippers, I restarted a new one early 2022. I have about 60 books and I make on average 5k to 6k and Oct 8k, nov 9kish dec about 18k last year. I’m always tempted to resell this account and restart a new one 🫣

      @@Snowfox23 That’s awesome! I’ve been tempted to sell the account I have now. But I’m not sure I could, as some books can’t be edited now- due to the titles being too long etc they get flagged now if I try and edit so I leave them. They were some I did at the start that still sell well, before Amazon got stricter with titles etc. Not sure if it matters but anyway, I also heard you can’t go into the same niches when you sell your account? So that would be annoying too! I’d be scared to start over lol…. But it is very tempting!!!

      i guess when you speak of volumes of books uploaded, we need to take into account pareto's principle, 20/80 rule. 20percent is defined as those that will really bring home the greenbacks while the other 80percent will flounder here and there. a little bit of pencil-pushing here is required. the Pareto ratio is not an exact number, the "20percent" could be anywhere between 19percent and 24percent. if I am targeting usd1000 net of all taxes, fees and charges from govt, online marketplace platforms, and payment processors, and payment for paltform/socmed ads, I need to come up with 160 titles. 160 titles will give me 37 books (if say, 23.5percent pareto success rate). Now, these 37 top-selling books need to sell 6 a month, and if my royalty is around usd 7.99, I will have usd1802 per month. Reducing this amount to pay for ads, fees, charges, will give me a net of usd1000

    Agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments here. I have over 500+ books published too but a lot of them are duds and do not sell. I think as you stated the more books you make, the better you get. There is no magical "number of books" to publish that equates to success. There are people that have only 150 books that make great money and some even lower than that. It really all just depends. Success looks different for everyone. Thanks for sharing these golden nuggets.

    Love your calm energy and soothing music it's a nice differentiating tone from the rest of kdp RUclipsrs that basically script read their videos. I've been publishing for almost a year now and I see some decline on sales lately even with ads do you think it's because of saturation? I'm into low and medium content like journals planners logbooks and activity books for kids and adults. I'm wondering if it's still a good job for full time income or it has become too hard to succeed, I still pay more in ads to rank my books and get reviews and hope to reduce that amount in the near future..

    • @RagsToNiches
      @RagsToNiches  Месяц назад +1

      It may happen sooner than you think! I absolutely always add A+ content to every book once it’s live. I do think it’s important now that you can’t see the inside of the low content ones. I also think it’s easier to get sales once you have some reviews. Even if it’s just a few. That’s why I’m happy to run ads at a loss initially - then after a small number of sales I sometimes pause the Ad if it’s not performing well and wait (and hope) for some reviews. Once they come - I start Ads again and they usually perform better.

I sold a handful of books a month organically, after I had made 30 books. Nowadays i don't sell any without running ads. I think the best time to start was pre 2019, which was before I discovered KDP for myself. I have graphic design experience but didn't know anything about marketing or running ads. I've learned about those slowly over the last 2/3 years but my budget is low. I think you need to spend a lot more money now just to get books seen and then take it from there.

    • @RagsToNiches
      @RagsToNiches  Месяц назад

      Thank you! Well, it somewhat depends on the book but if you scroll down to the “book details,” on Amazon, it says how many pages the book contains. So, when you do your research you can check how many some of the best sellers have. Often it’s between 100-120 for a notebook. I tend to price a lot of my books between 6.99 and 7.99 or so - but again - check in the niche you’re publishing and see roughly what others are doing. Don’t price too low, it will pay you pennies and doesn’t help anyone. I hope that helps! 😊

I have one book that is always landing on page one for its main keywords but it’s not that in demand.
