1967 Ford F100 2wd with a 360 FE, 4 Barrel Edelbrock. And a Borg Warner T18 4 Speed Transmission Driving Through: Visalia, California October 26th 2020
Love that dash sticker!! If they had go pros in 1987....this would of been just what I looked like driving my 72....only with hair metal music blasting!!! Love the videos man!!
Hello, I have that transmission in a second generation Dodge Ram 1500 v6, tomorrow I will check the casing to find out if it is t18 or t 19, but the reverse is up
dont get mad but you don't have to clutch everytime you brake,if rolling, and you can downshift coming up to a stop especially when loaded. Running smooth nice!
I've got a t18 in my 92 f150, I've never had a 4x4 before and need help lol! My first gear grinds but I can start in 2nd then go into 1st! And I have to shift into 2nd before going into reverse as well, is this normal or do I need a rebuild? Thanks!
That is very weird, 2nd, 3rd, 4th are synchronized, while 1st are reverse are not. You normally have to be completely stopped to go into 1st and reverse. Search that on google and maybe there could be some forums that could help. These trans are cheap so you could get one at a junkyard if you needed too.
1st and reverse are non synchronized so it’s hard on them to align to go straight to it- it’s all normal. I thought the same thing but after reading on forums I learned that
OMG!! Is that a MANUAL transmission?? Did I just watch a guy shift a manual 4 speed transmission?? Holy sh.t, Im 72 years old and I gotta think back...have I ever seen this done???
@@willfrancone3908 I just bought a 72 f100, I'm pretty sure mine will be the same..to improve this and turn the truck into my daily driver, do I need to replace the diff only or gearbox and diff??
@@trevorclarkson.2339 @Trevor Clarkson. If you want better cruising speeds you could make you rear end a higher gear like: 2.73 or 3.00. Mine is 3.25 it's not too bad for cruising. You could also buy and overdrive to bolt on to your existing transmission, but those cost a lot.

Thanks man, I definitely will be putting a stereo in the truck soon.
@@willfrancone3908Hey! I subbed your channel!
@@willfrancone3908Couple questions. Why shift so fast? And why put it in neutral, instead of downshifting? 🤔
@@willfrancone3908And, could take the old shifter off the column. It is usually held on by a roll pin. Just friendly advice. :-)
Please make more videos like this with this view. Especially during cold starts, would be so neat to see and hear. Subscribed!
Thank you, I plan on making many more
@@willfrancone3908 please do
Nice video man!! I’m from Porterville. Fixing up a 73’ F100.
That truck is dope bro 👌
I just ordered a Ford T-18 for conversion to my Jeep. I'm doing this for the granny low.
Hey I did the same T18 in my CJ5. I rebuilt it before installing works great and a nice crawler gear.
Cool Man. I'm driving a 72 camper speacial chassis with 390 n 4 speed with a 77 cab mounted ,no bed planning to build a wood flatbed. Iz tht a 66
Thanks for the ride
exelente muy linda camioneta. y el color. felicitaciones
have you done the front disc brake conversion yet ? simple swap if you can find the 73-79 donor truck its all a bolt in
Lol this thing is smooth I have a 68 f250 with a 360 and granny 4…..it’s rough as hell
I I have the same truck as you. Currently in the midst of rebuilding/restoring it.

Does the clutch have a biting point

I do that occasionally, this video was when I was still learning to drive stick
@@willfrancone3908 understood
I think the transmission on this is a compound, due to that 1st might be classified as a deep under.
Hey. What have you done to minimize rattles and vibrations? Or are you one of the lucky ones?
I got a t18 on my 1957 f100. Dont know if i wana keep it
I feel like your synchros are gonna last three weeks shifting a t18 that fast
@@GSKYYT it's for a video.

Que buen conductor
Did you switch the column, or was this truck an auto originally?
It was originally an auto, I have a video of the conversion.
Visalia is a nice town. Lemon groves in Summer really quiet!
is this some where in FL>?>
Central California
Is it genuine gearbox or custom?? I saw the lewer at the steering column )
It was originally an auto. I swapped it in
Just learning eh
did you change the position of the reverse shifter?
T18 had a change in the mid to late 70s. The earlier models reverse was on the left by first and the later models reverse was to the right by fourth
T-18 technically a 3speed since you start in 2nd
Is that a conversion from an automatic? I notice the column shift.
Yeah, I swapped out my old 3 speed auto. I have a video on it too.
@@willfrancone3908 cool! Did MPG increased or decreased after the swap?
@@curierfromxibalba1155 I didn't really notice a difference. It has a 390 in it now and I get about 9-10mpg in town
Learn to do most of the steering with your left hand. It takes some work I know when you are right handed. I enjoyed reminiscing with this.
OMG!! Is that a MANUAL transmission?? Did I just watch a guy shift a manual 4 speed transmission?? Holy sh.t, Im 72 years old and I gotta think back...have I ever seen this done???
Don't you use first gear???
It's a granny low (Crawl Gear). 6.37 : 1. It's too low to use for city driving. 2nd is 3.09 : 1, it's plenty low enough

When I hit top third a jet is taking off...
I got a t18 In my 78 with a 300 my top end is like 60 on a good day lol
But you could hook a plow to it if you had to.
I got a NP435 with 300, 86 f150, cruises 65 pretty easy
I can only get to about 12 mph in 2nd gear
