Love it! I bought a honda cb400t which was a failed project and all the wiring was cut out and thrown away allready. Perfect excuse to use an M unit for this bike

Great info. I would like if you touched on what to do to adapt a older bike to a lithium battery set up. New reg/rec?

Awesome videos! One question, I am wiring an m-unit on my bmw R100 and looking for where to place the unit itself. The location in the video, isnt that too exposed to rain?

On this particular bike the m.Unit is tucked up under the custom seat pan as it transitions under the tank. The backside might get a tiny bit of exposure in a severe downpour but it's reasonably protected. Often we would have a more of a pan than this and other components would be mounted along with it.

Love your videos! Im curious how the munit has been mounted on that boxer? Have you welded an additional steel bar to the frame? I dont have have a welder and i dont want to harm the original frame. Any good alternative options?

This bit has a significant amount of customization and we did weld a piece of flat stock to the frame in order to mount the m.Unit. I don't have a specific location to suggest but you can mount the m.Unit anywhere that is not going to be directly exposed to water. It is of key importance that the contact surfaces are clean of any paint and treated with an anticorrosive agent in order to remain well grounded. If the mounting location is not a good chassis ground you need to run a ground cable to the m.Unit from the battery.

M unit is a fantastic piece of kit ,but the side stand function is terrible and in my opinion unsafe , I spliced in the original side stand/ neutral light system using a relay and diode to cut power to the ignition, everything thing else I use the m unit, maybe I'm just over cautious because having the side stand come down before a bend is something I never want to happen again ! I think you should do a video on that? Love your work , best "how to" bike vids on utube. Thanks .

I'm not sure that I follow, can you elaborate? I'm picturing what might happen when I lean into a corner, the stand comes down and the ignition cuts off mid turn.

Hi many moons a go, my first road bike was a Suzuki gn125 ,it had no kill switch on the side stand, at some point on a journey the spring holding the side stand came loose causing the side stand to come down, I didn’t notice this until I went to lean into a left hand bend, causing the back end to hop around like crazy and forcing me into the side of an oncoming car! If there had been a kill switch on the side stand, chances are I would of been alerted to some thing being wrong and pulled over before the bend, the m unit side stand function cuts the power to the starter not the ignition? Thanks again.

i liek it BUT the PDM needs to be weatherproofed in some manner.

Once the tank and seat are installed there is sufficient protection from the elements on this bike. They don't need to be sealed up, just tucked away where the terminals are not inundated with water.
