- Extinction Rebellion has warned ministers it will step up its campaigns in “new and inventive ways” if they do not agree to two demands ahead of a major four-day climate protest in Central London.
The group has called on the Government to “end all new licences, approvals and funding for fossil fuel projects”.
They also want ministers to “create emergency citizens assemblies to lead on fair, long-term solutions to the most urgent issues of our time”.
TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer engages in a furious clash with eco-activist Dale Vince over Extinction Rebellion’s ‘ultimatum’.

Its strange how the urgency to save the planet by disrupting sporting events and blocking roads only seems to happen in summer when the warm weather is starting .I guess they don't have the passion to save the planet by protesting on the roads during the cold winter months.

Why would they go and protest there when the UK is their home? People seem to ignore the fact that the Industrial revolution started in the UK. It doesn't matter how small our footprint is in comparison, we have an obligation to set an example and lead the way to a greener future.

But lets say that you do infact know better than these experts, and that there is no climate crisis. What's the issue with moving away from fossil fuels and turning to more environmentally friendly alternatives anyway? It's only going to be beneficial.
Asking a government to bow down to demands whatever the cause is terrorism. And I hope at some point when this whole thing ebbs away some serious action can be placed upon all people involved. Not to mention the deliberate disruption to everyday life, and disturbing the peace.

People won’t even see their cause..they will just see their behaviour. If their causes stand up to scrutiny why can’t they intelligently and calmly explain in a reasonable manner to others. If they act out of anger, that will come back to them. They really do not help themselves by using the tactics they use. This is obvious to any discerning person but they seem to act with such hatred of those who don’t instantly subscribe to what they believe that this acting out of hatred and anger actually blocks them being heard. I hope that they have a rethink and get wise to how to be heard.

I have lived many years and there has never been a decade where we have not had a planet crisis be it aerosols, polar caps melting, oceans dying, rainforests, and fossil fuel. Sometimes I feel sorry for the people who are in a state of panic about our world do they ever find enjoyment in the world around us.

I saw a video from America the other day a man who is installing the charging points for electric cars and he walked about 50 yards away from them hidden round the corner was the diesel powered generator that powers the charging points 🤣🤣

Palm oil is the main problem, these people should go to Brazil and stop them cutting down the habitat of millions of animals, let's see how they get on trying to stop them, I would say the palm oil industry is far worse than any fossil fuels to the environment

There is enough grass in this country to create gas to run the place! What are the animals supposed to eat to create meat on which to feed everyone, or indeed where do we get enough greens if the whole place is given over to grass growing? Solution, we will import everything using fossil fuels.
Our atmosphere contains only 0.4% Co2, which is needed by plants in order to grow. Reduce that figure by just half, and all plants will begin to die, thus not giving off Oxygen on which, as far as I am aware, we all depend on to remain alive.

I would like to know what all these eco-zealots do for a living. Are they employed in any useful industry so to provide income for themselves, their families and for the country. Having been in the building industry all my working life, I think they should have a couple of years on a large building contract with a few hundred people of many trades. Whatever the truths about climate and energy, every word Dale Vince says is to promote his businesses and increase his profits and funding. He will directly benefit from everything he is advocating. Conveniently, his idea of a 'saved planet' means he will be very rich.
Any problems caused by the limitations of his product will be blamed on fossil fuels. He seems to suggest that he will happily buy junk-made windmills, which cause pollution when created, transported and whenever parts need replacement, from China. Will he then monetize them for as many years as he can, with ever greater inefficiency, passing on the costs to his customers? He may not sell fossil fuels, but he surely peddles snake oil.

It's no different than when Gordon Brown took over Labour, but we'll ignore that. I work for a company that makes solar panels and wind turbines and that is also involved in building solar farms, the guy has no idea what he's talking about, panel efficiency goes down when panel get scratched etc, but companies want to keep the panels because of the costs of replacement and the damage that the decommissioned panels cause to the environment. That's before we get to the damage to valuable resources, environmental damage in mining and the toxic effects in production and damage to the eco system when turbines and solar panels are taken out of service, and child labour involved in getting the precious metals etc needed for these renewable technologies (including cars). Having worked in the energy sector for almost 2 decades, I have also worked in nuclear and fossil fueled power stations, the technology CAN'T produce what we need at a cost we can afford and won't for years, nor do we have the capability to store our requirements. If you want cost effective energy nuclear is the way to go with SMR's (Small Mobile Reactors) not these pie in the sky dreams of renewable energy that won't be able to produce what we need for decades to come.
Facts bounce off these eco fools like a BB off an Abrams tank.
