    I have a 2012 Colorado, and have never had a problem! I also had a 1994 S-10 Blazer, both great trucks! As for Toyota, we use them where I work, great off-road vehicles. BUT, the Colorado looks MUCH better! Also I am a die-hard Chevy man!!!!

    As is par for the course, truck owners are loyal to their brands. Sadly they often don't see when there is something better available, or just refuse to think that anything can be better than what they bought already. I know, I've been there. My first truck was an 04 Ram quad-cab powered by a massive 5.7 liter Hemi. Dodge/Ram has been class leader for years, holding multiple MotorTrend Truck of the Year awards. No doubt there are those that would disagree, but hey, everyone has a right to their opinion. And well, with that they get to deal with what they own. When gas prices ticked up to about $4.00 a gallon, and the amount of driving I did a day, my truck was costing more to feed in gas each month than the payments and insurance combined. Even with the MDS engine *that was the 1st year offered* because most of my driving was city, my 11ish MPG was on longer sustainable. Even with that, I have longed for a truck ever since. Well, finally the time has come. I've driven a very comfortable 2011 Milan since it was near new. I bought it Certified Previously Owned. It has every bell and whistle. And I've become very used to the comfortable ride. It's powered by a very inspired V6. Additions were limited to a sport tuned Magnaflow exhaust. Needless to say I am not ready to step down to a 4cyl that will be begging for mercy every time I step on the throttle.
    I've driven the 2014 Tacoma PreRunner loaded with all the comforts offered and a V6 under the hood. It is a decent truck. It has been on my list of possibilities for some time now. However, I do have to consider a wide range of options and scenarios when considering a vehicle. Comfort is essential. When you might spend 7 or 8 hours a day in your truck, Seat comfort is very important. Noise levels in the cabin must be low to reduce the chance of fatigue. Ride confort also important. Being bounce around can be exhausting.
    The Tacoma is powered by a 4.0 that puts out 236 HP and 266 lbft of torque. The Colorado's 3.6L is the source of 305 HP and 269 lbft of torque. The Tacoma with the correct options is max rated at 6500 pounds towing capacity. The Colorado is rated at 7000 lbs.
    Many want to put the 'challange' in the dirt. Fair enough. I'm confident that with the right accessories, a lift kit, some suspension mods and tires of choice, both would make playing in the dirt and mud loads of fun.
    In the end, I see no reason for any Tacoma owner to be nasty to the owner of a Colorado or its twin the Canyon nor should it be the other way round. some day a Tacoma is gonna rescue a Colorado from too much mud and you know, the same is going to happen when some Tacoma owner takes his ride too far in. Own what you like, and like what you own. Shake hands with your fellow truck owners and be part of a family so to speak.
    Happy Trucking.

      Well said.. Their are many hot headed tacoma fanboys that just troll every colorado/canyon video cause they can't stand that a new truck came to the market and its beating it in multiple different areas and most reviewer are loving the new GM twins but try to dismiss it with random opinions. If all you do is off road, I suppose the TRD package would suit you quite well but if you want an all around better experience the GM twins will give you a much better experience. IMO

      zimks
      Truck owners love to be loyal to brand. It's part of the game for many. Mine's better than yours and all that. I don't buy for anyone but me. It's okay if someone else doesn't like it. They don't have to, its not theirs. Over the years I've owned my share of 'odd' cars. In the 80's I had a couple of VW Rabbit diesels. They were a bit slow off the line but I was the one bragging. 50+mpg and back then diesel was something like 80 cents a gallon. I owned a VW Westfalia camper (as a daily driver). The memories of family vacations were worth ever extra moment it took to get from A to B. It too was a bit slow off the line. In the more recent past, I owned a Smart, you know the tiny 2 door from Mercedes. Loads of attention in the nearly 3 years I drove that as a daily driver. Any more, I'm driving more conservatively. Age will do that. On the driveway there is a Nissan Leaf (pure battery powered car) that has traveled nearly 16,000 miles on its electric only drive train. Next to it is a Mercury Milan. It's well equipped and very comfortable on those road trips we take. MPG easily gets to 25 on highway driving. But that is the one that is going, I just want a decent Pickup that wont feel like I'm driving a brick. The GM twins Canyon/Colorado seem to have hit a lot of good points that Toyota has neglected since it had really no competition. Lets see what they do in the coming model years. I don't think things will remain the same. They'll have to improve to remain the segment leaders.

    • @zimks
      @zimks 9 лет назад +1

      Tony Morton yeah toyota fanboys should be happy with competition or else the tacoma would have been virtually the same for the next 10 more years

    This Colorado looks better than the Colorado that is selling currently in Mexico, according to some websites, this model will not arrive in Mexico (I hope that they're wrong) due to the fact that we have the Colorado that comes from Thailand. I hope that later GM changes the production of the Colorado and Cruze for Mexico to the Factories that produce both vehicles in the USA.

    Yea, to all you Tacoma lovers, agree with some that say if you love the Tacoma so much go post on the Tacoma videos. And to add some more info everybody seems to be forgetting the huge recall and TSB on the Tundra and the Tacoma on replacing the frames because they rot out. I work for an independent automotive shop and see a lot of crap. I'm sorry but you just don't see a Chevy truck frame rot away like that. As far as the Nissan goes, they have the same interior for every truck they have. From the Xterra to the pathfinder to the frontier. Not much difference. I'm in the market for a truck, I don't need a full size, but I do want something that can handle some off-roading and snow. I think I'm choosing this over my other 2 choices.

    Not a bad walk around, I would work on writing a script or at least having some bullet points that you want to point out. You say that the step in height is better than the Tacoma, how? Is it lower or is it higher? Lower would be better for people that just want to have a pickup but higher is better if you are going off road. The term "better" is relative to your application and it should be justified. This seems like a fairly decent basic truck, Are they doing a keyless ignition? I'm not sure if I will go back to a GM product, especially after this year's recall Festival. I certainly would not touch a Ford, I will admit that the new Rams are interesting. I would stick with my Toyota's and Nissan's, The Titan is due for a major overhaul and the results will be very impressive.

    Toyota Tacoma needs to shape up because it's underpowered, outdated and quite expensive for inferior midsize truck.

    • @foskco87
      @foskco87 10 лет назад +3

      I'm not trying to sound like a dick but have you driven the tacoma? Its pretty damn powerful for a small truck. I've never driven it and thought, "this truck is underpowered". Try driving and older toyota and you will see what underpowered means lol. I agree it is outdated and too expensive though. Could stand to get way better gas mileage. I just hope the new tacoma doesnt get bigger and have too much computery crap. That shit is unproven to last 20-30 years like older toyota's. And if something electronic breaks...good luck fixing yourself, you would have to pay toyota to fix it ($$$). Hopefully the new taco's continue on with the dominant tacoma look and design.

  • @martyg2333

    I don't find the interior for this vehicle to be any better than the new Tacoma's, I just bought a 2015 Tacoma and it has some of the bells and whistles that this truck does and not to sound bias but I happen to like Toyota's a lot better. The Tacoma has all of the media features on the steering wheel just like this one but I like the layout on the Tacoma better, and I also like the NAV center better on the Tacoma, I think it looks better, the user interface is snappy and easy to get a hang of. This is kind of nit picking but I don't like the shifter in this either. There's no cheap plastic in the Tacoma, there is plastic but it's quality, hard plastic. I'm not too fond of the front end on the Canyon or the Colorado because they're too close to the ground, the Tacoma has higher clearance. A couple things I do like is the higher towing capacity, the larger rear cab area, heated seats, Bose surround sound, locking tail gate with the assisted drop, the option for running boards, the step-up in the back, and more HP. I like the GMC Canyon a bit better than the Colorado but they are both nice trucks. In the end though, I wouldn't trade my Tacoma in for one of these. Next year will be interesting with the new diesel engines, I'm more excited for those.

    Thanks for the review, but I disagree with you on the interior. I finally got to sit in a Colorado while the interior looks good, it feels cheap and plasticy. The soft touch materials are akin to GM circa 2003-2005, aka sub industry standard. The hard touch may have a grain to it, but it's still a cheap, economy car material that has no business in a $35K truck. You mention Toyota which is more than a fair comparison. While the Colorado is a step up, it's not the quantum leap that should be expected to be seen. Toyota has been investing heavily into their interiors (Rav 4, Corolla) bringing luxury standards to vehicles that used to be built like, well, the Colorado. When the next Tacoma debuts, I have a feeling it will have a far, far nicer interior than the Colorado. The steering wheel feels great- credit where credit is due.
    One last issue. GM penny-pinched heavily by not including AUTO AWD mode in the Colorado, and the lower front air dam seriously impedes off-road performance, and clearly wasn't on any of the car show displays or their website while everyone was ordering.

    • @zimks
      @zimks 10 лет назад

      everybody has there opinions but the front air damn will not affect off roading its just plastic that flex's if going over anything

      I agree, the Tupperware down low is great for the wind tunnel. But you're truck will look fairly shitty if you rip it off while on a trail, heading to your cabin, deer camp, the state park.....or just a tall parking block at CVS! Friend of mine ripped his air dam of his 2013 Silverado because GM loves making those things hang 5 inches off the ground.

      Reaper Yeah, but can you blame them? They'd be crazy not to try and copy it lol. But yeah, dont get me wrong, I think its a decent truck for what is out there today. But it would need a decent lift and better tires to give the tacoma any offroad competition. I like that it gets better gas mileage and I have mad respect for the manual transmission, those are getting harder to find. But in this day and age, even 24 mpg is pretty damn awful for a small pick up truck. Needless to say, I am going to have really high expectations for the 2016 tacoma redesign.... they better not fuck it up.

    the new colorado is a huge joke,is a tad smaller than the 1500 silvarado this truck is coasting around 38000.00 to expanses i would rather spend 2500,00 less on the new dodge 1500 delis ,more room better gas mileage, the mileage you heard on this is not true,that millage estimate is on the 4cyl,CHEVY HAS AGAIN SCREWED UP WITH A OVER SIZED AKA MID TRUCK,AND OVER PRICED,LIKE THE TYPHOON screw up years back,in reality if they took care of the 1500 and left the original colrado and just added a 2.8 delis they would be at the head of the class in mid size truck!!! but they are dumb a** ,just like how they are so scared to bring back the elcamino .any one who spends this type of money on a truck is dumb!!!!

    38k for a mid size truck with the same price as a well equipped full size and it's not even the premium trim? 17mpg is terrible for a truck your trying to justify as more economical as a full size. That's near 5.3 V8 fuel usage numbers. I was excited about this truck but GM completely pooped the bed with this price point. I'm a 6"1 240 lbs man, my full size Sierra is a pleasure to get in and out of. It will tow 8500 pounds like it's not there. While it has excellent road manners. It's 14 mpg is murder at the pump. But that's a full size with a V8 Z71 that cost.............38k.
    I drove the new Colorado, interior wasn't bad but not as roomy as it's full size brother. The size of the vehicle itself is not that far off from a full size either. So there goes the space saving easier parking truck, rear window visibility is miserable while in traffic. Backup camera is fine but it doesn't work while driving, so good rear visibility was overlooked.
    Side mirror placement and design was more concerned with form than function. The v6 motor is right out of the impala so it's got stout power, click the info to instant economy readout and the average real world driving kept showing average of 12 to 16 mpg......?
    Remind me again why 38k for a truck with less room and capabilities than a full size is a good idea. Again, it's nice.....but just doesn't make much sense at all with the current GM pricing. I see two things happening, either GM will get their head out of their kiester and drop the prices through incentives; or dealerships are going to have a crap load of these truck left on the lot and they'll under sell the number projections and this model will dirt nap soon. Especially if it has issues or major recall. In which case they'll get rid of this year's stock of 2015 with crazy incentives next November. GM, if they're going to win this segment, you'll have to do it with a much better value.

      I'm all behind GM building a fully capable midsized truck, but searching the package price point of different options. They are still in my humble opinion asking a premium for what can be had in full size. Not that Toyota isn't guilty of the same in many aspects. It's just that if they want to pull customers to the GM plan for the segment. They have to offer more than a gimmick; the platform has to offer utility and function with a price to justify the reduced physical size. It will be a success only if the ends justify the means.

      There will be over a version of the Colorado with a Duramax and manual gearbox which should definitely help with power and fuel economy.

      ozzy do Tacoma is completely redesigned for 2016. New engine, interior and exterior. The colorado is really a let down compared to what they COULD have done. All of GMs products are starting to look like crossovers, even their trucks.

      zimks Just because it doesn't look unrecognizable doesn't mean it wasn't a redesign. The interior is different, the exterior has multiple changes if you know what your looking for, and it has an all new engine. The tacoma has had the same basic shape since the 1990s or before, but it has evolved so much.

    I really wanted to like this truck but the interior is cheap, crappy, plastic. Why can't GM ever get it right? I want quality materials in the Z-71 I want leather in a Z-71. I want a black dash in a Z-71. I want AUTO 4WD for the Z-71? I DON'T WANT A CANYON! For the love of all that is good in the truck world, please stop screwing up an otherwise good thing in order to promote the Canyon!

    • @thevinceberry

      I think because this truck was original design for developing countries like Brazil and Thailand and etc so they cheapen out the interior. Maybe later they update the interior.

      No. This truck is already at $40K. I want the interior worthy of the $40k price. The $15K Chevy Sonic has a nicer interior. Cheap, hollow feeling, hard plastic is not a quality material. I CAN understand them using it on a journeyman or jobsite model. But for those of us who use it as a daily driver and weekend fun machine, having a good interior is a must. GM intentionally made the Chevy interior bad to promote the Canyon. Let me say this again so it sinks in: THEY INTENTIONALLY MADE ONE TRUCK BAD TO MAKE THE OTHER SEEM BETTER. That's the exact thinking that ruined GM to begin with. Let the Chevy Colorado be the Colorado without having to bend over to the GMC brand. Is it going to ruin the Canyon sales if the the Colorado has a nice interior to match it's great looking body? NO! People who like the way the GMC looks will buy the GMC regardless. But people who like the Colorado, but hate the interior, will not buy either! I'm sorry to all you Chevy/Ford/Toyota fanboys who feel the need to defend your purchase publicly, but all these trucks have flaws that could have easily been avoided had it not been for some dumb corporate decisions made by bean counters and economic majors who have no passion for cars and trucks. The Colorado's is the crap interior. Deal with it.
