I love how Alter has been making short films about mental illness. It really helps to let people know that the real horror of the one who are struggling is that no one will help them even though they know how dangerous the voices could do.
There really was a man from a somewhat well to do family called Edward Mordrake. These events are fictional & while the parasitic face could but rarely twitch, Edward said it would talk to him while he was trying to sleep & having mental back & fourth's. Great story, great take & great short movie.
@@clarkyrock4443 well it can be both

This kinda hit the nail on the head... I have psychotic depression and so I deal with hallucinations and delusions, one of the most common things for me is ‘they’re gonna hurt you’ over and over and a voice telling me I’m a demon or demonic or evil. This was hard to watch as it hit close to home but it also portrayed the loose grip on reality you have during these times really well. The not understanding who is saying something or what they’re saying, the perceived aggression, the alienation and ‘me against the world’ is all very true... this is the closest and truest depiction of psychosis I’ve seen
Voices in my head used to whisper to me to “look into the dark” over and over and like multiple people were saying it. I guess because that was my worst fear. I always tried to ignore the dark because if I ever looked I would start to see thing slowly form
I'm so sorry for your suffering. I can't imagine how scary it would feel to not know what was real & what wasn't. I hope you have been able to find a med or therapy that has helped bring you peace. ♡
I work in a psyciatric clinic and hospital, we sadly see this all the time, and I thought as well that this hits the nail on the head I am sorry you are dealing with this, and I hope you are finding help and understanding! All the best for you!
hey i used to feel the same way. But now i feel fine. It was when i came up with my theory. Its that the brain is the strongest most powerful tjing i the world and it creates aour realities and evrrything we think we are is true. so once i think of myself as heakthy it has stopped bothering me
@Cody P What was funny about the comment you replied to?
I feel sorry for him. He's obviously mentally ill and no one lifts a hand to help him.
*Sadiecat*
Whose to say they haven't tried in the past?
At the end of the day his family are not, to the best of our knowledge, mental health experts.
Maybe he wasn't taking his meds or walked out of a hospital to attend the engagement party?
He kept reassuring eveyone he was fine, don't forget.
I'm not trying to roast you, just pointing out a few things that occurred to me to possibly explain why things escalated so rapidly.
Peace.
I feel him
@@salfisher114
My point exactly.
Lots of folk, without asking questions, therefore not knowing answers, kneejerk react, assuming everyone is capable of making logical choices and decisions.
There no patience or allowance.
Sadly, most of the human race are a lot closer to a mental health problem than they realise or would want to know and all it takes is just one thing and their lives spiral out of control.
Seeing how people react to those with a problem makes me glad I've never suffered and more protective of my friends that have.
When people try to help, he says, "NO! It's fine. Tankyoudoe."
@@top_nigerian_news it’s his family.
I heard of a real life version of the story. He also had a conjoined twin on the back of his head. He had claimed that at night his twin would torment him by whispering evil things to him. He apparently got his twin removed and he was able to live a regular life after that.
I heard about that! Maybe it’s another case which drove the guy to suicide 🤔
@@RehanaF13 yep that guy said the face would tell him indescribable evil things to him at night and ended up killing himself because the doctors dint have the technology to do surgery to remove the face. Sad and scary .
Gino Perez Yes, and it was on the back of his head, not his neck. I don’t think I could live with that mental torture. Would drive anyone to insanity. Just imagine! Creepy.
@@RehanaF13 I couldn't do it it's already a struggle now with an evil face on the back of my head it's just scary I'd feel so scared lol.

He was an amazing actor. Please let him know how great he is. The quick facial expressions interchanging with true feelings and an attempt at a mask he thought the person wanted to see, unstable to the point of not being able to hold a mask for more than a few seconds. The smile and eyes.he rocked it!

Another great short, ALTER. I felt really bad for Ambrose...the actor did great. I got a sense that he had schizophrenia and the abomination was his way to explain the voices.

Well done. Brilliant portrayal of mental illness, particularly psychosis/ schizophrenia. Brother's fiancee is overtly forward and flirtatious, but I sense that is a delusion as is all his interactions and internal experience. Bravo!

This hit home for me. Every time he heard the voice telling him they're going to hurt him. Oof. I've had paranoid schizophrenia since I was a kid and I've had the exact same thoughts. I didn't have a face on the back of my neck though 😂 although that would've made things easier, people are not very supportive when they can't see what's wrong

I guess this is what people with some sort of mental illness feels inside their mind 😞 it's hard to fight your inner demons.
Like Schizophrenia I guess... 😕
Ik how he feels...
"We never conquer our demons, we only learn to live above them."
@@beowulfvladmax7710
Very true ,,
My take: he has a birthmark on the back of his neck that looks weird. He was ostracised and abused as a child, and thus developed schizophrenia. The main perpetuater of the abuse was his dad(Correction: brother). The fiancée is the first person who doesn't judge him, so he finally feels love, but she is already his fiancee. He finally cut off the birthmark from the back of his neck, which explains the blood, and finally...
I presume he dies.
so he has a parasite twin like the legendary Edward Mordake......no biggie
Damm dats a good lil idea I like it
@P0werPuppy can you please explain why Ambruce asks his older brother why wasn’t the father invited and also kind of equated himself to the father when he said that he wasn’t invited either but he was still there? Because I interpreted it as him being alike to his father but since he was recessive and gullible so his family allowed him to stay with them for the wedding which wouldn’t have been possible in the case of the father so he was not invited. However, your interpretation adds a total new lens to it do would you mind answering my question!
@@soniarana5061 that's why I said dad (?). So older brother is the perpetuator of the abuse.
The way his mother treats him throughout the film, I'd say she was a participant in the abuse as well.
Deeply disturbing short, showing the horrors of internal struggles within the human psyche. Very relevant for our society today.
Congratulations to all involved, a great story superbly told.

Ok, when he said, “did you invite dad?”

So I guess this is about living with paranoid schizophrenic psychosis. It must be a truly terrifying nightmare to have to live with this.
I loved it. I had heard there was an urban myth of this kind. I never thought they would make a movie about it. It's great.
No myth. There actually was a man born with his twins head on the back of his head. The man ended up killing himself.

I am a LCSW. I'll say this is very accurate. There is nothing on his neck, is all mind. Very sad I will say that much. When I first was getting into counseling, they have ear buds that you put in, and wear them for 45 minutes in a darker room and you walk around and try to read, think, talk etc. With voices playing into your ears. It gives you a taste of what people have to deal with on small level. Anyone can try it. ♥️
Something dad said...and it stuck.
Dad's always there...you little monster.

6:22: "She's poisoning it?" Is this thing making Ambrose see things?
7:26: Oh my gosh, you see the face there on the back of his head?

Amazing. The plot, the atmosphere, the acting.

this is based off a true story about a man born with two faces named Edward Mordrake. The face appeared to be an undeveloped Siamese twin. He begged doctors to remove it, but they couldn't without killing him in the process. it whispered to him at night and slowly drove him crazy. He committed suicide at the age of 23.

During the end of 2015 / 2016 and the few times I had a psychotic breakdown afterwards this is literally what it’s like when I remember. Things were cut out, things I did, I didn’t remember doing. When abrose here spoke and then broke a mirror that really got to me because I breifly remember doing the exact same thing when one of the voices in my head was getting to me. This is honestly a true depiction of what it’s like to go through that sort of stuff. And if you felt uncomfortable watching that for a few minutes, imagine living like that, because I can tell you now, this is exactly what it’s like, especially when you can’t remember and things seem muddled. Luckily I got admitted to a mental health hospital, and thanks to the brilliant staff members there I got better soon enough and now am feeling a lot better than I was before.
Isn't this based off of a real person? I know that sounds crazy, but I think I actually remember reading somewhere that someone back in history actually had a similar growth.
