Great no-bullshit tutorial! As someone switching over from Autodesk Inventor, due to uni requiring me to use this software, this really helped me figure out the basics.
I started using this software at work today and couln't figure out exactly how to use it since im more used to software like sketch up and 123D Design. Your tutorial was really helpfull, explaining all the basic and necessary things to get started. Thank you so much for making it :D
I'm needing to learn how to use Solid Edge for a job I'm getting. It actually seems quite a lot like Inventor, but with 3D object manipulation made a lot easier.
I've been using Solid Edge since 1998, use it for design at my day job and my side business, and have trained many people on it. One secret: I have found that the majority of Solid Edge users only learn the bare essentials and don't take the extra time to learn it in depth. If you hustle and learn it in depth, you will become the go to guy, and your options from that point forward are awesome! My clients come to me all of the time for help because I hustled to know it better than them. When you get settled at your new gig, reach out to me and I'll help you ramp up. Good luck!
Hi Jennifer, This is a process that is usually covered in the SE fundamentals class or with some customized training class. visit here: www.prolim.com/training/solid-edge-fundamentals/ If you would like to contact us at info@prolim.com, we can help you understand a little better but this is a pretty basic, beginners function so we probably wont make an upcoming video on this topic.
I am having an issue with my Gear Wizard in ST 10. the body comes out fine but the teeth do not cut. I get an error message saying elements are not closed. I can seem to find the command to close them. any suggestions would be helpful. I work for a gear and sprocket manufacturer so this is essential. My sprocket wizard works fine.
@ 4:37 you showed the free rotation of 3D part, how to set that option in Solidedge ST8, in ST8 its like you click the middle mouse button, move the part, then when you leave the mouse button the part moves.
Hello! I watched this video looking for some help with using the pattern, however i am having a hard time finding exactly what i need. I want to model a band saw blade and want to use what i'd refer to as "linear pattern", but i can not input a certain number of repeats, i want to copy the first tooth with a certain exact pitch, along a straight line. Is this possible in SolidEdge? Does anyone have a solution?
Interesting although I have a simple question is it normal practice in solid edge to lock a dimension to a feature or the axis? never used solid edge before just catia....i'm just curious.
Personally you went way to fast throughout the tutorial. It's a getting started tutorial but you move at the pace of someone who already knows the program. Next time slow it down by 100mph so someone can work side by side with your tutorial. Not have to stop it and go back every 10 seconds because you're moving a mile a minute.
THAT is how a tutorial should be done! GREAT job!!
An interesting alternative to Solidworks. I much prefer Solid Edge's drawing annotations. Thanks for the tutorial!

+Nathan Streety Are you looking for someone to train you?
David Haag
They train you in Solid Edge, but if you have any recommendation I'd be more than happy to hear them.

Good tutorial. Only question I have is- Where do you select what size paper you're using? I would think it would be in the ANSI template selection.
