Millet idli and millet dosa recipe presentation and preparation is very good. While in recipe commentary the importance of millet may have been told so that viewers can know it. Many people do not know what is millet?👍
you are right, many people have no clue about millets. I have discussed the importance of some of the important millets in separate video in detail. Link to these videos can be found on the channel itself.
Thank you for the appreciation. Pleasure always :)

Is it possible to use the barnyard millet in the same ratio as this one (kodo millet). The background music is too loud. Makes it difficult to understand
Yes you can use barnyard millet (or any millet your choice) in the same proportion.
Thank you for the feedback..point noted ..
good recipe but the background music is a bit too loud. we would love to hear what you are talking rather than the music.
Feedback positively taken… we will work on it… thank you 🙏
@@nurturinghomes here you did a big mistake of grinding milletw first, you should always grinding the urad dal and the same water that you soaked Methi seeds is enough for millets and urad dal. Why throw the soaked Methi water.
@@edna19. I have made this video in a way that it becomes very easy for even a novice to cook. Feel free to work otherwise, if you wish to!
@@nurturinghomes not right when you make a video and show it even a novice how to cook, should be the right way.
@@edna19. ease of cooking matters. Indian cooking is very versatile & can be adjusted to one's own ways, preferences & likings. Re-iterating, if you have problem, work it otherwise as per your own way. There is no one right way of doing. Do it your own way and enjoy healthy cooking!

But they say to avoid rice for diabetics...can v skip powa?
instead u can add millet poha/flakes in same quantity

One video on chutney's is releasing soon next week. Stay tuned.
Am sure you will love it :)
Is it the poha that helps in fermentation? Or fenugreek?
millets are very drying in nature. Poha gives the required softness that you otherwise very easily get in the dal&rice fermented batter for dosa/idli.
Oh, ok..thankyou so much for the information and video
@@priyakharel2789 Pleasure :)
Poha me carbohydrates hota he to diabetes Reverse me le sakte he?
@@seemachristian9482 In that case you can use millet poha only. Another option can be to use curd instead of poha in the morning (as curd doesn't need fermentation). Add curd just before cooking the dosa/idli
Please tell can we use dhuli mong instead of this daal
Yes u can try, it should work equally good!
If dosa is kept round side towards the edge of plate. Fold inside towards the middle of the plate your presentation will be more
Beautiful and balanced
Sure..thank you for suggesting..will check this out next time

soaking millets for 5-6 hrs is required for khichadi preparation as well ...

Thank you 🙂
Can we make it without adding poha
it will not come out to be perfect..will be a little dry / rubbery in taste
If u have to use that poha...what is the big idea
I'm sorry can you reclarify what you are wanting to ask? I didn't get your question.
Kodo
Rage ko bolty hi,
Ragi aur kodo- dono alag hai
Kodu milletka arabic & angrezi naam kya hai?kya kodu katta hindustani loghikha sakte hain?kya bahardes ke log bhi kha saktehai? Kodukatta Africamein kaha miltahai ispar ek video banaye take ham africkmein rahnewle khasake
Kodo millet is the name in English. I have no idea about what's its called in arabic. Everyone across the world can consume it for the innumerous health benefits that they have. If you are having trouble locating them, then do try buying them from a local indian grocery store otherwise online buy it from Amazon.
Please let me know more about millet’s
Sure!
Can I skip poha?
millets are drying in nature, so if you don't add poha then idli's will not come out to be soft and dosa would be rubbery kind. If you still want to skip poha, try adding dahi instead, (dahi has to be added after the fermentation is done, that is just when you are ready to cook). That might help.
From where you buy millets and which company?
I generally buy organic variety from a local farmer near my place. But you can buy it online from amazon, big basket etc. Just make sure to check for organic variety, rest all brands are good enough. Hope this helps
@@nurturinghomes i want koda kodra millet
@@kamaljadhav5897 ma'am these days you don't have to worry about not getting things in your local market. If you are unable to find them nearby, then just go for online buying. Amazon, big basket etc have almost everything that one needs. Hope I could help you :)

I did not understand what you are asking? Can you please say again what you are trying to ask?
Can we make this without poha
it will be very dry !!!
@@nurturinghomes oh ok
Can we skip, poha??
no..if you skip it then dosa will turn out to be dry and idli's not soft
Kodo ya kangni same h kya
Kangani is foxtail millet. Kodo millet is also called Korda.
foxtail millet ki bhi recipe aapko mere channel pe mil jayegi, just in case you are willing to watch.
Hope this helps.
What's measurement of urad dal anad kodo millet?
everything is mentioned in the video ma'am.. Please check
What happens if we skip poha ?
They won't taste good.. dosa would be kind of rubbery and idli's won't be as soft as they would be otherwise.
Ye milets kaha milega
Aj kal har super market mein mil jate hai…
Online - big basket, Amazon, blinkit Se bhi aap mangwa sakte ho
Poha nhi Dale to
toh idli soft nahi banegi...aur dosa bhi dry dry lagega
Kodo means ragi?
No… both are two different millets.
Kodo is also known as kodra.
Ragi is also known as nachni or finger millet
Ye millet me time bahut chahiye . ! Earlier morning me roz nasta me to .. time sochne vali baat hai !
yes, fermentation Karne main time Jata hi hai. otherwise quick mornings ke liye instant recipes try Kare. aapko ase bahut sari instant breakfast recipes bhi humane channel pe mil jayengi.
Ham bhi eise hi karte hein par poha ke jagah ham chawal lete hei.
nice to hear that.
kai log chawal prefer nahi karte, health reasons ki wajah se, toh unke liye poha ya dahi is the best option :)
@@nurturinghomes thank you

No need to add soda??
No.. not at all
I use 1:3 ratio for all types of millets as well as Rice. I feel that 1 :4 ratio may not suit me
ok
if u add rice benefirs of taking millets will be reduced,i think.
rice has its own benefits. One can't eliminate carbs completely from the diet for the simple reason that they are energy giving food. All we have to do is control the portion of how much we consume it . Hope this helps
Aap aur bhi ek channel hai .".thin recipies* or *skinny recipies* .jaisa kuch naam hai a lady from a corporate job has tried vegan super healthy recipies unhonein sirf millet dksas para tha bananey sikhaaye hain
But salt should be mixed after fermentation... otherwise it will kill good microbes
You can do either ways..will not affect
Poha bhee Millet ka hi use karna chahiye
its your personal choice. I prefer regular poha

@@sunithasuni6790 Thank you but I am not interested. I have tried there recipes and they turn out to be very dry & not soft at all (specially idli's/dosa's). To understand what I am saying , you need to try this recipe V's there's.
And in any case if you are so satisfied with them, I don't think you need to watch any other channel for millet related stuff.
@@nurturinghomes for me ( for everyone)health is most important than that of good and variety recipes.. and I think satisfaction will get through better health but not from tastier food recipes..
@Sunitha Suni Good thinking but I don't want people to run away from food bcoz not all think like you (specially kids) So when good healthy food is combined with awesome taste, its only then nobody shy's away from eating for a longer run. They get used to it bcoz they love it and not having it just because the mind is forcing them to eat healthy. Its more about a wholesome balanced meal than just running away from certain food item (which is our age old tradition).
Hello @Nurturing Homes. I soaked the kodo millet for a whole day. I wanted to make khichdi of it so I pressure cooked it, yet it tasted like its grainy (kind of husk on it). Can you please give some tips to how to cook it properly?
maximum soaking time must be 6 - 8 hours only.
I will be uploading kodo millet khichadi recipe soon with all the tips & tricks , so stay tuned :)
Ka hi dal purani ho to pakti nahin could be that millet was too old.not sure
