millets are drying in nature, so if you don't add poha then idli's will not come out to be soft and dosa would be rubbery kind. If you still want to skip poha, try adding dahi instead, (dahi has to be added after the fermentation is done, that is just when you are ready to cook). That might help.

They won't taste good.. dosa would be kind of rubbery and idli's won't be as soft as they would be otherwise.

kai log chawal prefer nahi karte, health reasons ki wajah se, toh unke liye poha ya dahi is the best option :)

rice has its own benefits. One can't eliminate carbs completely from the diet for the simple reason that they are energy giving food. All we have to do is control the portion of how much we consume it . Hope this helps

@Sunitha Suni Good thinking but I don't want people to run away from food bcoz not all think like you (specially kids) So when good healthy food is combined with awesome taste, its only then nobody shy's away from eating for a longer run. They get used to it bcoz they love it and not having it just because the mind is forcing them to eat healthy. Its more about a wholesome balanced meal than just running away from certain food item (which is our age old tradition).
