Godzilla Minus One (2024) tribute

This isn’t just one of the greatest Godzilla movies, it’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. It’s a love story, a war story, a tale of redemption, the re-thinking of dying for a lost cause, for a government that doesn’t care about you. It’s a great documentary of PTSD. It just happens to have a kaiju complicating the plot.
It’s definitely the best Godzilla film since the 1954 original. It’s very reminiscent to that movie because Godzilla was brought back to his roots as a metaphor for nuclear destruction and the horrors and traumatic experiences of war, but the people are the main focus and you REALLY feel for them. The acting was so raw and genuine, those scenes with Koichi’s mental breakdowns put me on the verge of tears and same with the scenes where their adopted child Akiko was sobbing, that was just heartbreaking for me, it really shows how horrible of a monster Godzilla was. The scenes with Godzilla were truly astonishing, especially that atomic breath scene, that just left me in awe. This movie really made Godzilla scary again, it was the Godzilla film I’ve been dreaming to see, it’s truly a masterpiece!
@@evanmaldonado9799 agreed. This movie actually had me hating to see Godzilla appear because the story was so strong. I was almost shouting in the theater the guy needed to marry that stunningly beautiful girl and give the baby the family she deserved. I was fighting tears, myself when she was supposedly killed. I couldn’t imagine just how guilty he felt being a kamikaze pilot “returning” from war.
The scene where he broke down and thought Noriko and Akiko were just a dream got me. That's one of the most realistic depictions of PTSD I've ever seen
This is one incredibly powerful film about bravery, honor, trauma, love, and family.
Shame and forgiveness
Koichi's roar when Noriko got blown away was absolutely bone chilling. The rawest scream ive ever heard.
Even without Godzilla, this movie is Golden
He deserves THE OSCAR
Agreed. Godzilla was no doubt the star of the film, but the film was executed so well it could stand on its own
Dammit why did Oppenheimer come out the same year
agree
@@Dinne. Kinda funny tbh bc Godzilla could pass as a sequel to Oppenheimer, but both amazing films
He's Japan's biggest movie star, after all. *total deadpan delivery*
I remember watching this movie in the theatre and had tears in my eyes for so many of those scenes. Watching your video has brought me to tears again. It is such a powerful story.
Thank you so much.
The perfect piece, for the Perfect Kaiju Film.
Thank you. This movie was everything.
@slyfer2812 agreed.
For me, it is THE greatest Monster film ever made.
I remember people genuinely in tears in the Cinema....and so was I.
And this video perfectly captures the heart, soul...and pain of this film.
Kudos!
"My war isn't over yet" thats honestly one of the most heartbreaking lines ive come across in recent media. A young man being guilty over the fact that he chose to live over the cruel command of a suicide attack now faces a whole new level of guilt because this monster that he thought he couldve stopped wreaked havoc on his new world. No one should feel guilty to live thats just insanely sad. Thats the single line that made me desperately wish that by the end of the movie Godzilla dies and gets sunk to the depths of the ocean where he belongs.
"Why do people keep talking about how much soul Godzilla Minus One ha-"
*sees this video*
"Oh..."
Best Godzilla movie by far.
@@slyfer2812 YESSIRR
@@slyfer2812 no doubt
A monster movie that makes you care more about the humans
@@slyfer2812no doubt bruh
Never thought a Godzilla movie would make me cry
Not only the best film of last year, but Minus One has cemented itself as the best Godzilla film of all time. The original will always be an incredible and influential piece of art and nothing could ever replace it, but Minus One is just that damn amazing. Pure and incredible. Tragic and heartbreaking. Perfection.
They made us fall in love with the human , his family and friends in a Gojira movie. Amazing story. The relief i got when i saw Noriko at the end. His story was not about dying for his country, it was to save his country and live happily in it with the people he love.
Cried in the theater. Cried again. Thank you Slyfer2812. You had one job. And you nailed it!
The way you edit this video really captures the moments and emotions in the film. awesome
Thank you :)
Bloody good film. Godzilla never dies❤
Best Gojira movie of my lifetime, says this lifelong Gojira stan. The score, the acting, the cinematography, the story and plot, and yes, the VFX...anybody who isn't moved by this movie and doesn't understand that a great Gojira movie has human drama in it as well as monster action, I don't know what to tell them. Mr. Kamiki's acting is powerful and you really feel for poor Koichi--in fact, in the theater the first time I watched this? Watching him screaming his head off in the aftermath of the Ginza attack made me say out loud "Somebody PLEASE cut this guy a break," it hit me so hard emotionally. May Toho continue in this vein and keep making it work!
You made me tear-up with this edit. 😢 Best Godzilla movie ever.
If anything, this movie deserved the happy ending. Shikishima went through all kinds of hell, and blamed himself for CHOOSING TO LIVE. A perfect description of shameful guilt and nightmarish P.T.S.D.
Whoever you are, this video was amazing. That young man's inner demons and struggles are heartbreaking. So well put together. Thank you
Thank you so much.
This movie was amazing. Should have got Oscar for the story and acting. Best movie of 2024.
映画への理解度が高過ぎる!
This movie resounds with the suffering felt by the japanese people under the empire during the war. So much heart for a kaiju movie
people don't realize japanese civilians suffered during the war too.
They thought all Japan were bad during the 2nd WW...
@@kakkoishonenWdym? I’ve never heard anyone say that Japan was bad. All I hear is people feel sympathy for them which of course is the right thing. No one was bad in the war besides the Nazi’s of our current knowledge.
@@YusoCrioNanking, Unit 731, Singapore campaign, Indonesia treatment, Manchuria, and much more..
@@peepguy3524 I never said that. When do you recall me saying that? All I said is that no one in WW2 was the bad guy besides the Nazi’s..
@@YusoCrio u said people feel sympathy for them which is the right thing. I get it they feel sympathy, but it shouldn’t be the right thing as they’ve done much things comparable or you could say worse than the Nazis. And u said that the Nazis were the only bad guys, so I had to back it up with info that they weren’t the only bad guys. There were many other bad guys, much more during WW2
Amazing edit; even better movie
This is full of the essence of this movie.
Fantastic movie!!!!!
Godzilla 54, This, Godzilla King of the Monsters, GMK and Godzilla vs Destoroyah are my top 5 Godzilla movies. Great video!
Can’t believe a Godzilla movie almost made me shed a tear..almost 🥲
因みに典子の葬式に来た人たちは銀座のデパートの職場の同僚たちだそうです。

Translation (according to Google Translate) for those who can't read this:
*_"Just watching this made me cry like I was in the movie theater again."_*
Oh my god.... 🥲😭😢 大好きです!ありがとございました。
It was beautiful to see Godzilla finally get his ass handed to him. Especially this bastard. This movie was fantastic, and your edit was beautiful. I applaud you.
this is one of the few times were you actually hate Godzilla so much-
The most human, heart-breaking, sombre portayel of war, PTSD and loss...
and it was in a Godzilla movie...
Watched this movie this last Sunday. Cried three times. Not even ashamed, because I’m only human. One of the greatest human dramas I’ve ever seen.
Update: I’m crying right now watching this video. God, this movie!
Such an amazing edit! You did an incredible job!
Thank you!
WHY WAS MINUS ONE SO EMOTIONAL. IM WATCHING THIS VIDEO ALONE AND I FEEL THE RAGE AND ANGER TO GODZILLA 😭😭😭😭 AND I LOVE THE GMAN
Everyday, we are getting closer to a movie about Imperial Japan
We got a scene dedicated to it in Godzilla vs King Ghidorah back in 1991. Godzilla, pre-mutation, showed up to fight the Americans.
I doubt we will get a true depiction of what imperial Japan looked like back in the day
In the movies Japanese really admit some of their's tactic is inhuman and the main character is coward and not crazy like most ww2 about ija
not every japanese soldiers were bad.
In a War, there are always soldiers and war generals that are evil no matter what country it is.
During the 2nd WW, even the japanese civilians suffered because of its army (Iwo Jima by Clint Eastwood for a reference).
But in the end we are all humans. We should learn from the past and try to build a better future for our kids.
Japan did it and became the safest and the most pacific country today so there's no reason you (the other countries) can't.

Basically Ishinmori Shotaro’s Kamen Rider franchise.
Perfect...
Masterpiece of a video
The movie was a perfect cupcake. Godzilla was just the icing on it.
ゴジラ見させて頂いてありがとうございます😢久し振りに見たら悲しくなってきました❗😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Wow. I felt all the emotions watching this edit.
This movie was awesome!
Bro I got goosebumps
The truth about Godzilla's birth...
March 1954 Godzilla was born from reports of a deep-sea tuna fishing boat belonging to Yaizu Port in Shizuoka Prefecture that was exposed to radiation from a hydrogen bomb test conducted by the United States on the 1st at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The report after the defeat by the nuclear bomb symbolized Godzilla as an incarnation of anger and a message that threatened the world to Japan. In particular, the new G-minus One is a remake that took over the spirit of the first movie. There is a reason why many people cried and were moved by the person who lived and took over the future. The theme of this Godzilla movie is to live no matter how hard it is. In Japanese, it’s 『生きて抗え』(ikite agarae ). thanks from🇯🇵🙇🏻♂️
Just finished watching this movie perfect timing
Can’t wait for this Godzilla movie to hit any of the streaming platforms. Plan to bookend this movie Godzilla v Kong, Shin Godzilla and Godzilla King of the monsters.
Saw this in theaters with my family and we were all so surprised with How good it actually was
This one is GOLD... Thank you for making this.

Beautiful piece of work Slyfer, thank you!
God you just made me love this movie more than I already did! You are a wizard
Thank you!
I love this movie
Ah my first Toho Godzilla movie in theaters. Did I regret watching it. HECK NO!!!!!
Everytime I see Godzilla, from the first to the last, I always wondered is this how the Japanese viewed nuclear weapons? Is this how they felt when the US, my country, nuclear bombed them twice? It always gave me sadness and resentment for what the past leaders chose to do. Seeing this video, I felt the Japanese’s raw anger and desperation in fighting this metaphorical monster. Yet in the middle I saw duty, family, courage, and sacrifice. All I hope is we use nuclear capabilities as an energy source. Far more than ever. Not for weapons of mass destruction. Just my thoughts from watching this is all.
Perfection
Thank you so much.
This is phenomenal
Wow! That just makes me want to watch it again, unfortunately it's still not released for digital viewing in the states yet. 😭
Beautiful ❤.
Thank you!

Please watch Soulmate (2023) movie. I am sure you will like it and come out with great video!!
Insane ❤
I really had sympathy for Koichi Shikishima. The plot is catastrophic and devastating. But there's a happy ending nonetheless
Leave it to Japan to create a Godzilla film better then the ENTIRE Monsterverse on a budget ❤
Hope toho doesn’t strike this one
Koichi: AAAAAAAAAARGGGHHH!!!!!
RIAAAAAAAAAAAAARRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
