- This German MRE compared to the Russian one is actually Legit. Shoutout to my buddy for providing it! I want to do a Chinese MRE next time but I still dont know how to get my hands on it.

Actually because there were many Russian migrants to Germany sometime in the late 80s/90s we have many Russian comrades in the military, especially in the infantry, which is why we call our specialised army forces (EGB) jokingly EGBlyat

Disclaimer: this is french produced MRE that was received so poorly by the troops that it was decommissioned just 3 years after introduction. Out of all MREs i have ever received, this was by far the worst one. The "real" german MRE comes in grey cardboard boxes (Einmannpackung or EPA) and is quite a treat in the field, that shit is unironically good
The probable reason Rantons friend gave this to him is because they're growing this stuff around, like in a "trying to get rid of this shit" type of way
Genuine EPA can be found in some online stores for obscene prices, and many cheaper ones are fake.
06:38 - you get a lil foldable cooker with your base equipment, it's not in the MRE, youu're supposed to store it in your 2nd line, so chestrig, plate carrier, smok or whatever you're rocking

Broooo that paté he eats at 6:20 comes from a spanish food brand called "Apis" (yeah "Sin Gluten" = Gluten free). Its actually a nice-standard brand of food in Spain tho. No surprise he did like it hahaja Nice video btw!
you should try french MRE. its so good (for a MRE that is...) it's used as a barter item. in 2010 afghanistan, a french MRE was worth 3 american ones.
there even is a "Ration de fête" issued for special days like christmas or the 14th of July (france's national day) that's worth 35€ with foie gras, pastery mix you get to bake with the little chemical heater you get inside, and other treats like olive tapenade and sesame grissini.

Bundeswehr spasti here. I only ever had the EPA (MRE) in an carton not in those bags. And they are somewhat different than the one you showed, but i dont know, maybe some companys have different ones. In the ones that i had there was more stuff in it. Like Beef jerky, tuna salad, bread and more small stuff (cheese that you spread on your bread or biscuit, different types of jam, meat, energy bars). I also don´t remember ever having a fruit salad.
But the main courses are the same. After having them for several weeks in africa i understand now the high suicide rate of soldiers.
I also never had constipation from them.
Was er da hat ist ne übergangslösung die es während einer Knappheit an richtigen EPA's für ein par Monate gab.
Das ganze ist in Frankreich produziert und leider sind auch nicht mal Hauptgerichte die selben, wie im originalen. Das Plastiktüten-Zeug ist tatsächlich ziemlich furchtbar gewesen und das beste da drin ist die schoki.
Mal abgesehen davon, dass man das Zeug nicht mal in der Verpackung erhitzen kann, wie die richtigen EPA's.
Wurde aber jetzt auch wieder abgeschafft und kommt hoffentlich auch nicht wieder.

So I don't know if the German MREs have it but in the US MREs they have a little green package that you use as a heater for your food it's supposed to be a more tactical advantage in the battlefield so that way say you were cooking and an enemy sees the lit flame versus something that's not lit and that could not be easily seen
Yeah they have it but there are so many different mres this one is intented for the trenches i think

The Russian MRE was not fake,there's videos of Ukrainians finding a few of them and reviewing,the shit is funny how disappointed they got at the end realizing it's way better than what they have. When Russians were near Kiev they gave out them to civilians so thats how UA forces found them.

as a soldier in the german military i am suprised by this mre. We have different ones but still a dope video
Because these were transitional ones we had for a few months due to scarcities caused by covid. Noone liked them, they don't exist anymore and everyone is happy.

Also, Ranton. There's no "fake" MRE, maybe yes, a fake military one. But MRE stands for "Meal Ready to Eat", it isn't specific for military purpose only, and civilian MRE do exist.
I'm not sure if they do their sugar-free gum the same way that we do here in the United States but dentyne ice is a very popular one that uses sugar alcohol. Sometimes there may be aspartame or sucralose included but not always and it still taste sweet. They are also hard on the outside and soft on the inside they soften as you chew, sometimes they can even be a little bit crumbly.
There's somethin' special about Ranton speakin' German. Love it.

There is actually more in it like Taschentücher and stuff. These MREs are actually a full day ratio with bread. Maybe it's an older one or a newer one wich I didn't had in my time in 91st but still a cool video
It's a transitional one that only existed for a few months and was honestly really bad. The original ones in cardboard boxes still exist and are as good as they always were.

Have you tried out US MREs? Some of the menus are pretty good, you can get them easily for 8-10€ / meal. German EPA isn't that exciting especially because you can get most of the stuff at the store anyway. US MREs have some really good items you can't get here (shelf stable) like the lemon-poppyseed poundcake from menu 10, that's way better than the regular cake stuff you can get here (Bahlsen etc.).
As a German def have to agree. German MRE looks depressing.
