I have opened up an older infinity amp out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a couple of Honda/Acura premium sound amps. What they all have in common is that they don’t have an onboard power supply to step up the rail voltage for true high watt outputs. They also use common 4 channel amp chips that have 1% thd rating of around 20 watts per channel (the limit possible with the nominal 12v provided by the car). The three chips in that bose amp mean it has a potential 12 channels. Every speaker in the car, including tweeters, gets its own channel and subwoofers get two channels bridged on the board. In my Accord’s case, it had two chips driving 4 speakers, two tweeters, and one sub. According to the chip specs, it was a 180 watt system but Honda advertised it as 360 watts. The active equalization and crossovers on the amps are what helps them sound ok for their size.

amp looks identical to the 10 speaker system’s in 2010ish mazda 3’s. ~240 watt system and supposedly 2ohm. still a mystery to a lot of us in the community. im here cause mine finally blew and was just silence w/ radio, bt and the door chimes etc

a speaker that is 94dB sensitive will put out 94dB at 1W. Thats 100dB at 4W. Most people prob listen at 70dB which would be less than 0.004W
An $800 LC-6.1200 is 125wpc. For it to be twice as loud (+10dB) it would need to be 10x as powerful. 125 vs 12.5 (In reality I suspect it is at least 10x as powerful as the stock bose)

Is there a harness that you can get that hooks up to a new amp to mount in the factory location? I’ve got an 04 Silverado with Bose and am lost on how to actually swap out the amp lol

Newer Bose amps apply a horrific response filter to the signal and make a huge mess. I'd love to put one of these amps on the bench and see if it is possible to locate an unmolested signal to jail break; instead of having to cope with the reasulting mess that comes out the amplifier pins.

@@stereomojo I set the EQ flat and ran the outputs from a 21 GM Bose amp into a calibrated input and the result was 🤮. Far worse than I anticipated.

If I have removed the amp out of my Acadia, which of course the amp that was removed does not work. But I have a replacement amp out of another vehicle, how exactly could I test that amp with a multimeter?

Did taking it out cause any negative issues with chime or any other notifications that run through the radio. Or is that just running the speakers. I have an 07 that I took factory HU out of so I already have the PAC device that runs my chimes. Just not sure what all the amp runs in these vehicles.

My 2007 Escalade has the Bose system. Every 25 seconds the radio/cd sound gets interrupted. With the key off and door open or closed the speakers give a thump thump thump every so often but I have not timed that occurrence. There has also been static battery drain and the battery will be dead in three to four days. I’ve pulled the AMP Fuse because I believe it’s causing the issues. There is no interior sound of any kind (no chime, back up warning either). Can you do a video talking more in-depth about the installation of aftermarket stereo and amp with required components to retain all sounds?

you didn't say if you replaced the head unit?
if you kept the HU, i would be interested why you opted to opted to remove the bose amp instead of taking advantage of a strong signal into a DSP (like a bit nove, etc) then to the whichever amp(s) you chose.
this is how my regal is setup and i'm wondering if the loss of signal strength offsets the gains of being rid of bose in my car once and for all.
what i would like to find is an awesome pre-amp to get a strong signal from the factory radio (can't swap radio in my buick) to the DSP.
