Great video, Gals in Grace. A painting tip when painting doors is that you can cover the door knob with aluminum foil instead of removing the door knob. This will save a lot of time. Take care.

just one coat of paint? Neat. Myself,, my neighbors have white doors, I live in a small "condo" community but it's really just two buildings of four town houses each, with each front door to the outside across from each other's front door. All the neighbors have white doors, and what better way to upset that dynamic than with the black door. I like the way yours looks. Bravo.

I plan on being so ting my front door and window frames this black color. Do you need to still use a polyurethane sealant?

What grit sander did you use for sanding?
Wrap tape around your roller to remove all that fuzz. You don’t need to buy expensive stuff. Been painting 22 yrs. Or go out side find apart if your brick house and run the roller over the brick repeatedly

You can put duck tape around your cheap paint roller and it will pull off all the lint away :)

Love the door! I'm going to do mine this weekend. How long did it take for the paint to dry? Did you only have to use one coat?
Katrina thank you so much for sharing! The drying process is about two hours and we definitely used another coat although if you have a really good paint with primer you could Get away with just one coat.
I washed my door and the paint started to come off,it was a big mess.I would recommend wiping the dust off with a dry rag.

Is the matte hard to wipe on to keep clean? Versus using a semi gloss or eggshell
Yes, it is harder to clean than a gloss for sure, but I just dust it with a dusting brush before washing with soap, water, and a cloth. It's worth it to me because I prefer the matte look. Thanks for watching!
We recently painted our front door black and it looks amazing so much so that others in the neighborhood have copied us. I have a question.. how do you clean it? I’ve notice fingerprints and I used a damn cloth to wipe it down and it made it look even worse. I was thinking maybe a wood wax and conditioner?
That sounds like a great idea. We spray our porch (including the door) down regularly with the garden hose to clean off the dust. Let us know how the wood wax and conditioner work!
by painting the door in place, how did you keep the parts of the door from sticking to the frame? did you leave the door open for a few days while the paint cured?
I just let it dry for the day. There was no sticking. Thanks for the question!
I am going to buy Snap Dry by Sherwin Wms. Satin, reviews say Semi gloss looks like Gloss.

Did you leave the inside of the door white or did you paint that black as well?
We left the inside white.

Can you use this color on shutters as well or is it too shiny?
Definitely not too shiny. However, the matte finish makes the dust difficult to clean off. I’m not sure it would be practical.
Does it not need a primer before painting? Sorry, I’m new here and want to paint mine this week!
We chose to use a high quality paint that had good coverage instead of a primer and a paint. It is still looking great after three years!

I'm so afraid if I take my deadbolt off I won't get it back together.
Whenever I take something apart, I take pictures along the way. That way, if I can't figure out how to reassemble something, I can refer back to the pictures. It's very helpful!

But I thought you mentioned eggshell like. I'm about to do mine with a color in-between black and charcoal. Other videos I've watched they recommend some sheen and even a semigloss. To repel water and dust. How's yours holding up against that?

@@jennifer2185 gotcha. I missed that. It's hard to find "exterior" rated paint in eggshell. However, I think I'll go with interior rated and then apply a sealant. I like the color she used
