  • Go to: www.worldwar2treasure.com if you are interested in high adventure and want to participate in recovering World War 2 treasure in the Philippines. Massive looting as an extension of war is nothing new. The Japanese were serious, sober, and deliberate when they methodically and systematically looted thirteen Asian Countries during World War 2. They took treasure including precious diamonds and other gems, gold bullion, and solid gold Buddha's out of every hiding place. Much of this treasure did not make it back to Japan due to a World War 2 naval blockade of the Philippine islands by the United States, and much of this treasure has been recovered and seen recently in underground hiding places in the Philippines. Widespread and systematic looting took place during World War 2 throughout Europe and Asia. For details, go to: www.worldwar2treasure.com

One the best acted scenes in movie history--this scene has it all--drama, anger, sincerity, angles, the lighting--everything. May be one of Savalas best scenes EVER. ALL of them, all of the actors did well--just right.

This movie made me really understand a lot about where the heads were at with these gentlemen who fought for our country but their moral code wasn't out of balance for all those bastards those sons of b****** that raped and killed women and Eisenhower hung them right in public was just amazing I was a rape child but this movie is just so awesome go get him Kelly....🇺🇸🗽✨🐕‍🦺🤺🎯🪖👍....

    "And who's gonna lead them?"
    "If you don't, I will."
I think that sold it. Kelly was basically saying that he trusted Joe to lead them all through it safely, and that way Joe could make sure none of them did anything stupid, which is what he was afraid of all along.

I think that a huge part of what made this movie so good, was the fact that Savalas, Rickles, and others were in the armed forces and were WWII vets.

Superb piece in a brilliant film. How big joe is hot to start with but cools off a bit every minute after hearing what some of the guys think. Kelly puts joe right on the spot by answering big joes " who's gonna lead em" kelly -" if you wont i will" but kelly wants big joe along because he's good with tactics and with the men. When big joe agrees to the gold caper, its just a wonderful moment in a classic WW2 film. Very good cast, i think telly savalas as big joe was his best ever acting role. Plus telly shed some weight for this role, i hated his part in the dirty dozen, not his acting ability, it was awful and then telly hits us with big joe in kelly's heroes which was 10 outa 10. Great to watch and listen to. Clint eastwood is the cool head and is a class actor. Had nothing else in mind here but to steal gold 30 miles behind enemy lines, al give a shout out to the german tank seargent who blew the banks door open, carl otto alberty, i was happy when he realized what was in the bank and came in on the caper. He salutes kelly before leaving and naturally gives the hitler salute, kelly looks at him as if to say what? And the german realizes and changes his salute to a hand up at the head salute. I always wondered how would they have gotten away to switzerland i would assume. Kellys heroes is up thare as a WW2 film caper that you just cant help but love and enjoy. I did not want it to end. The song burning bridges playing while they drive off into the sunset. Pure class. Telly savalas was so good as big joe and clint eastwood was so good as kelly. Good supporting cast to boot. Don rickles ( crapgame) and telly savalas ( big joe) remained friends for the rest of there lives. Don new and was close to so many big names in hollywood.

I notice near the end of the scene, when Joe asks the team if they want to go, that the first three guys that Joe asks are the three that get killed in the minefield.
Don't know if that was a deliberate choice by the director, but in such a well-crafted film, it wouldn't surprise me.
