The best part of this video is that you actually explain what the changes are doing. As a programmer who doesn't know much about game coding, I really appreciate that extra bit of insight. Cheers!
I believe that if a person knows beforehand what a certain change is going to do not only can he adjust it according to his requirements but also be sure about what he is losing and what he is gaining. Happy gaming 😄
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming I was waiting for you to offer me some butter chicken 😂 do you smell like curry? Most Indians I know smell like herbs and spices such as garlic and garam masala. If you do, I’d like to lick your belly button sweat and get the curry stench on my breath
Normally I dont leave comments, but I feel like I have to say thank you so much in this perticular instance! The game went from a stuttering mess to running smooth like butter. I hope one day that I'll have the intelligence and problem solving skills that you possess.
Thanks for the appreciation. It made my day and to be honest it's not that I am super intelligent but really lucky to stumble upon these settings and my experiments proved fruitful. Also lucky to receive lots of love from around the globe ❤️
Wow! This just saved my game..... like really. At first I was like, okay maybe comments are made by bots or bad ones got deleted. But seriously this small fix just chaned the game. My frametimes were horrible; fps jumped around like a 4yr old on cola and the game crashed every 10mins bcs of overflow. But just adding these few lines to the engine.ini fixed all that. fps is constant, GPU usage is staying at the same limit for the same scene, instead of jumping around like hell. I could even bump up several settings again. These few lines made this game runnable at medium settings with multiple crashes to smooth and steady on high settings. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Seriously I too think that bot is involved if a video got huge positive comments and seems fishy for what it says it can do. But man I can tell that amount of time I pour in making and testing this surpass my current status on RUclips. I am still at a really low sub count of ~350 and if I could have used a bot to begin with I would have increased my subscriber count to start monetization. But well I will reach there and with honesty 🙂
The best part about your video is not the fix but the explanation which is clear and logical. it helped my gameplay as well.. i realized my stuttering was also because of CPU throttling at 85 C.. this game is so beautiful but so poorly managed.. it has issues with stutters and colors being washed out as well.. else its a really cool game
I used to view guides as well and had to blindly follow as there was no explanation. That resulted in a hit and miss situation. I improved that in my videos so that people can adjust accordingly. See these are trade-offs and not everyone is willing to make the same. So the explanation goes a long way here. The colors can be fixed by using profiles in the nvidia control panel or enabling nvidia RTX HDR, dynamic vibrance or any freestyle feature that modifies colors..
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming i totally agree. i was wonder why did you not post more videos.. youtube needs more creators like you. and yes i did Nvidia color profile to fix washed out colors but its not the same thing. a game of this caliber should be better out of the box
@@informationtechnology5098 I will post more videos from a few days now. I was just hanging between my previous job, family and this work. I quit that job and I will take my chances on RUclips
Thank you dude. It's a lot smoother now, very little lag here and there but its actually playable now! I have a 8GB GPU so i was able to get away with 3072 poolsize
Yes if you set the settings specially the one that controls streaming speed you are good enough. If you see a huge frame spike then reduce the pool size, if you see more small frame size then adjust the speed of streaming by increasing that other setting I mentioned..
Thanks man. Actually a real fix and not just "update your drivers" or some generic shit. They fucked up really bad with RAM and VRAM organisation. Feels like its barely releasing any memory, when its not needed anymore. I run an 3080 with 10GB and a Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 32GB of RAM. My settings are: [SystemSettings] r.Streaming.PoolSize=3072 r.Streaming.FramesForFullUpdate=5 r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1 r.TargetPrecompileFrameTime=30 r.PredrawBatchTime=30 r.TextureStreaming=1 r.Streaming.UseFixedPoolSize=1 r.VirtualTexture=1 I have not tried to set it higher yet. With these settings, the game feels like before no textures missing or anything.
I can relate and your system config is pretty balanced too man. Its just the game has a sweet spot for 12GB Vram cards. For exact reason a 12 GB 3060 RTX performs better than the 3080 with 10 GB Vram. I also run a 3070 ti card and with 8 GB Vram I have to set settings similar but lower than what you wrote. Yes the game nearly looks the same with 3070 Pool size but many of us can't set it that high for stuttering reason. Your comment will help people with similar config to what to use when using these modifications in their game.. Happy Gaming :)
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming Yeah i agree. I have a 3080 10GB and my girlfriend has a RX 6700 XT 12GB. Otherwise the system is relatively the same and her game runs completely smoothly without any stuttering. My system still has micro stutters after optimizations. Both on Ultra 2k.
@@Brimbol That feels when we invested so much on these cards just to have such experience and that too this early. If this game came 4 years from now then it would be considerabke, but in 2023 not cool..
Man, you saved the game. I was having big trouble with stuttering, on the f...... rtx 4090, but with you fix it's all gone. A note of confidence: I just set streaming poolside to 5120, and frameforfullupdate to 200
Whoa stuttering on 4090 RTX. Well I never thought this graphic card owner would be commenting. The worst was a 4080 RTX till now.. Seems like the game really needs some love from developers quickly. You know what FramesforFullUpdate was not meant to be set more than 20 but since you have a huge pool size already you are able to get away with it. Otherwise on a smaller pool size it just stops the loading of textures for us as it's a huge time duration. If you ever face an issue don't feel shy to set it lower. Happy gaming 😀
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming yep man belive it or not it was stuttering like hell. Now it's gone. Although, I think the last patch broke the game. Saw the RT shadows problems?!?! 🤣 I had to turn them off. On the other hand, I will try to set frameupdate to a lower value, see what's happening. I quite don like that texture loading 😅
I looked for a lot of videos to solve my freeze problem but nin if them helped me except yours! You solved my problem and thank a lot for that, there are still some freezing going on but its very little, you saved me thank you a lot
No problem and glad to know you are having a better experience. We all have so different hardware and it's really difficult to tell what will work for all of us. I found these settings worked best for my dated hardware specially CPU so I thought this will help others too. Happy gaming 😄
Bro i just picked up this game and it was crashing to desktop with no error message. Currently runnning i7 8700k with 32GB ram Ddr4 3000 mhz. Gpu Rtx 4700. I copied your suggested settings into the file and the game just feels smoother and the rtx reflections even seem to be loading in better now. I am tempted to play around with increasing the 1024 to 2048 to see if anything looks better but just wanted to say thank you for this fix. That earned a sub and like. You're a legend.
It will improve the quality of textures when going from 1024 to 2048 for sure initially. What I have noticed myself is that when we set pool size above 1024 on 8 GB Vram cards then it does not necessarily improve textures consistently as after a few minutes the game will leak some more VRam and game will loose texture quality similar to reduced pool sizes. This is especially evident in my testing during Hogsmead area. Your mileage may vary so don't skip on trying as you can always revert back. Good luck and happy gaming 😀

I have started facing an issue from yesterday in this game, bought this a year ago and never had no stuttering nor lag on my rx 6600xt 8gb vram, but suddenly from last 4 days I had started to play gta 5 online and it was smooth including hogwarts legacy running around 90 to 110fps on custom settings of high-ultra. Until yesterday I saw some frame drops and lag while walking inside hogwarts castle, I wasn’t able to know what the problem was until I ran an amd overlay where I saw that gpu hotspot temps were reaching 96c and core temps were somewhere around 76. But it didn’t stop there and today when I played gta online, and here I go with frame drops and minor stutters in smoke areas including the gpu hotspot temp hitting 90c and dropping directly to 85 with an immediate frame loss from 90 to 52 and then it’s stuck there like I’m using a low end gpu. Minor stutters are seen when this happens usually in hogwarts legacy, thankfully I have my gpu warranty available as it’s been a 2 years I bought it. I reinstalled my and drivers and also installed the whole new driver ver 24.6.1 that was released yesterday. Nothing seems to fix it. Also I’ll try the fixes that you showed but maybe it won’t help me from the gpu temps going up. This game is good and had a lot of potential to be great, yet they chose to abandon it with poorly optimizing. Those texture pop in and the pixelated mud and objects taking time to m load or until you don’t close in and if you move far away, it again goes blurry pixelated. The whole game looks like made of chocolate or something 😂
Looks like either GPU paste dried up or some tension screws that provide the force to the GPU sink messed up. This is really easy to fix if you follow a disassembly and repast with a new thermal paste applied. You can also try to just tighten the screws first on the backplate to see and check if that fixes this away. Also about video then try to first choose a lower FSR setting like performance and then use all these settings. Also selecting 1440p rather than 4k helps this game for some more texture space. Good luck
No problem at all. I would have done that for myself anyways. I just shared it so that bros like you can get benefited too. Everyone will save time for gaming rather than experimenting.
Hello, and thank you for this video. I've already followed steps from another tutotial, pasting settins that are slightly different from yours (see below). There are also [console variables settings]. Can I just have these + yours? Will there be a conflit? Thank you again. [SystemSettings] r.bForceCPUAccessToGPUSkinVerts=True r.GTSyncType=1 r.OneFrameThreadLag=1 r.FinishCurrentFrame=0 r.TextureStreaming=1 r.Streaming.PoolSize=3072 r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1 [ConsoleVariables] AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdates=1 AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesDuringGamethreadUpdates=1 AllowAsyncRenderThreadUpdatesEditor=1
You can have them both. Just make sure that you have a single entry for every setting. Otherwise it will mess up. As long as they don't repeat you can have as many settings you want. I tested many of them too and those that made a difference to me included them.. Happy gaming 😀
I've tried all the fixes online Including fps mod but this managed to fix the terrible stutters! I couldn't play the game since release since it would stutter so bad even though I have Rtx 3070, 5700x and 16gig ram. Just bought another 16gig ram too.... Oh well.
This fix is an engine related fix. This should be done from the developers side. I had some knowledge of game development too so I thought about what meaningful changes we can bring by doing this. It did take me 2 days to tune and find what works. If only developers did this too they might have found it in one day because of experience. Anyways I am glad it helped. Happy gaming friend!
This fix has worked best for me. Major improvement. 1024 poolsize makes it really nice, but I should probably stay on 2048 (half of my VRAM & better look). Will tinker with framesforfullupdate & see if it does anything. I'll also upgrade my DDR4 RAM from 16GB to 32 GB & see if it does anything.
Stutter is Vram related. People with 32GB Ram are also having the same issue. Frames for full updates is key to reduce lag. Try setting it at 200 and restart the game. The video memory usage will drop by another 1 GB and game will play smooth as butter BUT TEXTURES WILL TAKE FOREVER TO LOAD. Try it for fun really!
Actually it will help. The game needs 16gb but your windows is already taking like 4 gb. So if you have a 16 gb your game doesn't actually have the required amount for a smooth experience. The RAM is loaded AF in this game...very RAM-heavy. 8 gb VRAM should be enough for the textures even on Ultra.
@@thelustyargonianmaid5427 Yeah for sure more than 16 GB will be great and even better for future proofing. Once that paging starts it does take some toll. I have seen game managing ram requirements good sometimes and dropping to 11 GB but don't know if that's a big too LOL. Also 4080 RTX guys are having stutters too so something is definitely wrong..

@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming thank you so much! Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. I guess I need to wait until patch to play this game without issues. I hope it will come soon!
I have a 3070Ti on a Ryzen 7 5800X and 64GB of DDR4 (I use a lot of rendering software) Going from 4096 to 3072 was already a big improvement, but there was still some visible stutter here and there. It's almost like certain specific locations in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade load in a lot of stuff all at once. Putting the frames to 10 definitely got rid of the last bit of remaining stuttering. Thanks!
I too have 3070 TI but I am waiting on my other components update. So I have to apply a bit more aggressive setting then yours. I am working on another fix that will make even RTX playable. It will take some time but it will be worth it!
@@10centcocwar45 I was thinking the same! But then I heard another user with a 4090 RTX having issues and this fix helped him. That busted my dream of believing RTX 4090 is a perfect GPU
No GPU is perfect for imperfect code. Garbage in, garbage out. Thank you for providing a fix i hope the game developers will include in future patches@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming
@@Fengel83 Yeah that's for sure, garbage optimisation means garbage results. By perfect I mean Vram in excess. 24 GB was way over the required amount and if that is not enough then 8 GB will struggle for obvious reasons. That was shocking to hear as I didn't have that card and thought about it running the game just fine..
Then you might be having a recent overall setup like a newer CPU too. Some of us cannot have a smooth experience with these settings. Good for you as you literally have the best FPS and graphics at same time 🥳
Hello! Could you possibly help me out (if there even is a way, lol)? I'm not sure what specs I need to write down, so I hope these will suffice! I have an HP Omen 15 2018 (15-dc0xxx, i5 8300H, 8GB RAM DDR4). I put all the settings on low (even tried turning some settings (sharpening and VSYNC in game & in NVIDIA) off, as I read that could help, too), but the game still stutters a lot during beginning of a cut scene, fights and loading screens. Those bother me the most as they are not just some minor few-sec stutters, but sometimes for minutes I just look at the same screen while characters are talking, fighting or screen is loading. I have tried to edit the engine.ini file to values in your description and also tried to alter them a bit to see what would work best, but I couldn't find my way around for the game to run smoother. I am wonder if you have anything in mind I could possibly try or if the only option to run the game smoother would just be to upgrade to a 16GB RAM (if that would even help?). Thank you in advance for your time and help!
Yes the Ram is also low to begin with. Let me tell you if you upgrade the Ram then you will not only have more ram benifits but your CPU will also benifit from Dual channel ram which is basically free bandwidth upgrade for laptop. Also please if you could (if you are going to keep laptop for atleast 3 to 4 more years) consider upgrading to 32 GB ram as Ram is cheaper and more ram is even cheaper than you think. I mean 32 GB will not cost you double of 16 GB but few more bucks. Also increasing the resale value for you. I am asking for it because I am seeing more games going north of 16 GB and your discrete GPU also gets benefit by increased Ram pool. But before you do also look at my other video where I talk about .oving game to SSD and increasing virtual memory size. This can help with those stutters. Also closing as many apps you can does help a little too
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming thank you very much for the indepth response! Seems like I may need to upgrade after all, will consider going straight to 32GB, as you recommended, as I do plan to keep my current laptop for a while still. I was considering upgrading to SSD, as well, too. Just need to save up first, as both upgrades are a bit pricey for me at the moment, haha. Once again, thank you for the help!
I rechecked it. It still works, it's just the game itself that edited that file and put some additional lines of code. You just make sure that those lines don't mess up. You can repaste those settings and then save the file. To make sure it's working just put FramesForFullUpdades to 200 and then start the game and this time game won't load textures. If this is happening then it's working. Just revert to your original settings afterwards 😀
Mine recommendations will be 20 for framesforfullupdate as it's a good balance between loading and reduced stutter and 1024 for textures. I do say that 2048 pool size is good too but after a while 2048 pool size causes textures to get compressed as there is no more free Vram space left so the game starts to stutter. One more thing is that if you are playing at 4k then try DLSS Ultra performance, this decreases the vran requirements by just enough to get a near flat frame time graph. I will be making a separate video on this but why wait for video when you can do this right now 😀
@@Darkknight9035 Yes you can write random numbers too. It's just that memory is addressed in 2 to the power of bits because of 0 and 1 as final binary calculations and that results in an even number of bits. This then converted to bytes and so on. Also 1 GB is 1024 MB and since we have space in GBs so most of these weird looking numbers are actually numeric multipliers of 1024MB. Don't worry you can use any number as you want as these sizes are in MB and doesn't affect anything in a negative way if used in non traditional way 😅
@@Darkknight9035 Depends. The higher the size more space gets allotted for textures to stream in and hence this reduces those texture pops but if this allotted space is not available then this has adverse effects. This is why compressed textures are ok rather than a stuttery gameplay. Also choose a low value where you don't notice compression. This is key in determining how you want the compromise to go in your favor.
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming it worked once but when i closed and restarted game then it was showing error and in engine.ini file below your settings there are some values showing false
@@gurisingh00 Why don't you use the original copy of file again and then repaste these settings. Game puts some additional settings sometimes and it does that for me too. But it's unpredictable. Also if you don't have the original file then just rename engine.ini file to engine1.ini and then start the game again. The game will create a fresh copy of engine.ini file and then you can reedit the file again. In case of emergency you can always use your engine1.ini file again anytime by removing 1 from it!
For integrated GPUs I will suggest go for the lowest possible size. I believe 768 was the lowest value other than 1024 from where game starts to get worse in image quality. Check if you can play at 768 pool size. Also set the framesforfullupdates setting to 40. Hope this helps..
Hogwards legacy is a huge cpu and gpu intensive game 1. dlss in nvidia Optimus sucks please don't use that use TAA 2. disable shadows and ray tracing which is bug please disable it 3. It uses dlss 2.3 please update it to 2.5 for non nvidia Optimus users 4. Increasing RAM 16 to 32 usually if ur vram is 4/6/8 then if the settings are ultra the gpu will pull some memory from 16/32 gb
For some people like my self DLSS has helped to gain 10+ FPS and for others its causing stutters so it really depends on person to person. RTX settings are really VRAM and CPU intensive so if someone don't have a latest and greatest config then its best to avoid it.. Also increasing Ram will help as this game has memory leak issues.
Yuzu is an emulator and hence works differently. This method is for unreal engine games. Some other games with different engines can work in similar fashion but documentation and variables can be different for them. Sorry but for the emulator we are out of luck..
2048 I will say as you have 2 GB additional then mine 3070ti. Remember that this is for really smooth gameplay and you can try 3076 too. Also using DLSS Ultra performance at 4k doesn't degrade that much but brings remarkable reduction in both VRam usage and stutters. Also frames for full update at 20.

If you have a mic then in Shadowplay there is an option where you can enable microphone recording with your in-game sound. That mic might be cancelled by default in your case. Just wait and maybe you get lucky 😀
You need to find a balance and not aim for best performance. These settings has that power that they can smooth the game as a flat line really but what's the point if textures look like you mentioned melted! So begin with a pool size of 2048 and then slowly decrease it by 300 value. once you find that game look ugly enough then just change the value to last one , meaning increase it by 300. This will be the best looking and best performing poolsize for you. Do this for Frames for full updates too. Start with 10 and then slowly increase it by 5 and when you feel like textures loading really slow decrease it by 5 and then you will have best of all worlds!
You are using an integrated GPU which shares VRam and this game is really VRam dependent. Also your Ram is kind of low for new games. If possible try upgrading your Ram to 16 GB as this will enable dual channel configuration for Ram boosting both speed and quantity! Other than that you can try increasing frames for full updates to 60. Good luck
@@davide_longo27 As low as possible and bearable to your eyes. It hurts textures going down 1024 so reduce by 100 and see if that looks good enough. Happy gaming and Happy New Year 🎊
My Hogwarts Legacy Lag fix video is based on Ram usage and patterns. This video and that video both will be helpful for you. Do let me know if you need any thing else..
Your Ram is really low and since it's mobile parts the performance compensation from other parts like CPU and Ram also becomes an issue. This patch generally fix issues related to Vram. I am planning on another fix for low end PCs like I have myself and till then you can check another video of Lag fix by me for the same game. I hope it helps as there isn't much that we can do really. Also let me know your settings that you applied..
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming yeah i figured that i have no chance left lmao, i did a 1024 and 10 like on the video and tbh it helped me to play the game atleast even with the couple of lags, so still a thank you
@@mxrislyna You know don't go lower than a 1024 really but you can go higher on Frames for full update like 20 or even 30. It will be slower texture loading at first but once it loads it generally doesn't bother that much and you will have a much better experience. Good luck
I will give this a try... I have 4070ti and this game works like crap. I'm gonna upgrade to 32 gb ram this week and see what happens...I play in 4k with dlss but still haven't installed the patch so I hope combination of a patch and 16gb of ram more along with this thing will make it smooth. Right now in 4k with dlss quality and ray tracing on with most of the settings on ultra but some on high I get around 50-60 fps but sometimes it drops to load the textures... Does this thing makes it look worse?
Won't make it look any worse if you don't go below 2048 in the pool size and mostly the same with 3096 pool size. Also 10 Frames for full update is really fine and 20 is doable too. Really depends on how much you notice the game. Gameplay improves drastically BTW..
2048 is fine it's 1024 that gives visually lower quality and even that is bearable. But when you go below 1024 it will become immediately noticeable. So 2048 is completely fine, it's nearly max to be honest..
Sorry but I have not experienced the same issue and cannot replicate it. Maybe on Reddit someone can help. Try creating a post on the respective handler there and post as much information as you can on the topic so that people can respond to the actual problem rather than guessing. If I were you I would load a previous save file and try again that area where you are stuck as it could be a bug that won't repeat again. Good luck

I understand and yes HDD to SDD is a massive boost. Make sure you choose a good SSD. Also no need to install everything again. You can just put an SSD in the system and install games on it only. Also make sure to watch the LAG Fix video of mine and allocate the virtual memory on SSD. This will help the game tremendously. Also if possible then open the task manager and sort the processes by disk usage and then kill some processes that are not absolutely essential. This will free up disk for necessary times. You can also alt + shift + Ctrl to open task manager and then select Hogwarts legacy and then right clicking this you can adjust the priority to HIGH. This will help with scheduling it and will maximize the min FPS.. Good luck
Any recommendations for a potato laptop? I'm sorta running my own experiment trying to get this game to work on a potato laptop with 6gb vram. I have pretty good specs and can run sea of thieves on high settings at 60fps consistently, my only real downfall in terms of hogwarts legacy specs are vram and ram. 6gb vram and 8gb ram. So I've been potato-ing the hell out of this game since I got it a few days ago just for my own amusement while I save for a better system.
Frames for full update to 30 or 40 if you can bear with it. Also pool size to 1024. Do check my Hogwarts legacy Fix video as that has recommendations for low Ram systems. I am working on yet another fix that will boost FPS with Even weaker systems too. I will release it shortly I am working on it..
I will advise you to go lower as 4096 is kind of the default setting. To get better performance start with 3072 and go down if you are not satisfied with it till 1024. Don't go below 1024. It just compresses textures way too much. Basically lower is better for more performance! And the other setting is higher is better for more performance. I personally use 1536 and 25 respectively.
I have an RTX 3070. And the game is umplayable. The nvidia control panel shows that the gpu usage is between 0-15%. The fans wont even start on the game. Any idea or anoyone has a similar problem?
Let us know your rest of the PC config as this is definitely not the case with anyone, unless you are using everything including RTX at ultra and having a really old CPU
My cracked version crashed to desktop, what should i do? On ultra settings they say that my 8gb od vram is too small for this. But when i use lower settings and fsr quality game crashes after 1hour or faster. I will try your solution, maybe this is it
It has nothing to do with cracked version. You need to increase virtual memory size on your C drive. See my Hogwarts Legacy Lag fix video and increase the Virtual memory size manually to 12 GB
This was by far the best solution for the game's stuttering. Thank you so much sir EDIT: What's your recommended poolsize value for a GTX 1650 Super with 4gb of vram?
Depending on your CPU if its single thread performance is good enough then try 1500 Pool size and if its older CPU like 6 years + old then try 1024 pool size. This game is actually really CPU bound too so CPU can counter some of the performance for you also. But since Vram of 4 GB is quite low already for this game you should try to stick with 1024 size. But then again if you see nice enough smoothness for your need on 1500 then there is no need to go lower. Basically try highest setting like 2048 first and if you don't like stutters then move lower by 500. Let me know where you settled..
That math is for a game that is well optimized for memory usage but this game has memory leak so for a 3 GB card 1024 or even lower pool size. As I have told others notice how the game looks without this video settings applied and then try to memorize the textures. Once noticed quit the game and apply the settings and then try the game again. If it looks bad then it was before then you set the settings too low. Otherwise you can set the pool size to even 512! But there texture compression becomes noticeable.
@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming the graphics look horrible bro , the texture is like pixelated , Still little bit stutter I think my hardware below than min req Running in i5 2400 , gtx 1050 3gb , 12gb ram , hdd I never have stutter like this before in every game...
@@arifnurabidin2509 Yeah this game is exceptional in anything I have seen. And as you go lower than 1024 then the textures compression gets worse. Also setting frames for full updates to more than 30 makes it really noticeable that textures are loading. I am working on another fix that helps but we will see how much it helps you. This new fix is letting me do everything at ultra including ray tracing but stutter don't go 100 percent even now..
@@piashsharier8261 You mean in game settings? You need to decrease any setting that says Vram and CPU intensive. These are Draw distance setting, Texture setting, effects setting and Population setting. You put these to medium. Also Foliage to high and shadows to low - medium. This will help the game even further..
I have a 3070Ti so it's pretty similar to yours as mine is not getting fully utilised. About logic then a pool size is what is used for temporary texture streaming. That means if a game needs 16 GB of Vram but implements this feature of texture streaming it can get away with loading only that texture which is visible and currently needed. Think of it as your own vision. You can only see to a certain distance so if developers don't load textures that you cannot see won't harm right. But this requires texture swapping from Vram to and from. Which causes stutters.. This pool size is generally half of Vram reserved for this purpose. If implemented correctly you can do away with half the value of your graphic card Vram. But this game has a memory leak that fills Vram so we are trying to reduce this space so that memory leaks don't cause as much lag. For me I need it to 1500 as pool size to avoid major stutters..
I tried to set it to 1024 and it works like charm, but I have 6gb rtx.. I tried to set it to 2048 and it stutter more... Is there anything wrong if I let 1024? Or I cant see anything wrong with it just by eyes. Thanks for answer..:)
Nothing wrong with 1024 pool size. I have 3070TI and I use that value as well. Its just texture gets compressed with lower pool size and its up to us if its noticeable. If its not then carry on with it and if it is then try increasing in intervals of 512. Good luck :)
There won't be much to do for a 2 GB Vram card but you need to have a good look at your current graphic and then put the pool size to 768. If that didn't bring any change then reduce it further by 128 again and again. You will see an image degradation below 768 pool size so try to just increase the Frames for full updates to near about 40. If that didn't bring drastic change try Max of 80. This is all you can do in conjunction with setting Vram related settings in-game to lowest.. Good luck
Frames for full update to 10 or 20. 20 will be smoother but textures will load a bit slower. And pool value to 3072. You may try 2048 Pool size too but 3072 will be just fine for your graphic card!
In terms of visual quality, is it better to do this or reduce the texture quality in game? because I set my game to medium textures and it rarely stutters and still looks very good 3070 Ti 8GB btw, thanks for the video mate
@@xiyax6241 Yeah that's true but nvidia is known to be far behind AMD in Vram options for good graphic cards. Always increasing the Vram in small quantities to outdate them immediately. My RX 580 has the same amount of Vram and that's from like 7 years ago..
You mean in-game settings or this video related? If in case it's video related then you can just delete all those pasted settings and if it's in-game settings you are talking about then it depends on System to system. My game defaulted me to all High with RTX off. Also these crashes are mostly because of Ram being completely filled and swap memory space is feeling too much pressure. Try to close everything before opening the game and maybe saving more often to play it safe..
A good pool size for any card is when a game is unable to fill your Vram buffer. Your card has a 12 GB Vram buffer so whatever pool size consumes up to 11 GB would be good. But this game has a memory leak issue so we need to set a bit low in this particular case. You can try setting it to 3072 as you have more vram than our 8 gb cards. This is the recommended size for 8 gb but it still stutters. You can try 4096 too and if it doesn't stutter then keep it otherwise decrease it. First go for 4096 and if not satisfied then only go lower.. Happy gaming
@@Anas_fazil Thank you too friend. BTW I will upload another video of a new fix that is even more beneficial for PC gamers like you. So keep an eye out for at least that one. Happy gaming 😀
Then the pool size should be around 1024. Also before changing anything shown in this video just watch how your game looks by default. Then make these changes. Try 512 pool size as your textures might be getting compressed already. If that feels bad look wise then increase the pool size. Basically lower the pool size higher the performance and worse the compression. So it really depends on what you want from your hardware..
The best part of this video is that you actually explain what the changes are doing. As a programmer who doesn't know much about game coding, I really appreciate that extra bit of insight. Cheers!

@@mastersboom3723 Thank you 😀 and happy gaming.

My settings are:
[SystemSettings]
r.Streaming.PoolSize=3072
r.Streaming.FramesForFullUpdate=5
r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1
r.TargetPrecompileFrameTime=30
r.PredrawBatchTime=30
r.TextureStreaming=1
r.Streaming.UseFixedPoolSize=1
r.VirtualTexture=1
I have not tried to set it higher yet.

Good luck
This really help fixing the lagging problem. Appreciate for the work to solve this. Thanks bro 👊

This fix is an engine related fix. This should be done from the developers side. I had some knowledge of game development too so I thought about what meaningful changes we can bring by doing this. It did take me 2 days to tune and find what works.

@@TiagoResende yes it made the game 100% smooth and playable for me as before I could not play because it would stutter terribly.
8 gb VRAM should be enough for the textures even on
Ultra.

It doesn't work after the latest patch...plz tell the solution
I haven't checked the patch yet. I will see what I can do..
Hello. What is your recommendation poolsize for rx570 4gb. Ryzen 5 3500x. 16gb ram
1024 I would say but you can try 1536 too. Also set Frames for full update to 20 or 30 depending on how much stutter you are facing!
I did not find the folder "Howarts legacy" in "Local" folder. What should I do now?
It could be a folder named Phoenix. Many have this issue. The rest of the steps will be the same. Also make sure you have access to hidden folders...
Bro, thanks so much! Seems to have helped, even though I haven't tested it a lot yet :D
It surely helps specially when in areas that have most stutters..
Its a Ram issue as well . its eating lots of RAM ... they have to give us the performance patch of this game
It sure is!
What is Your recommended Poolsize and framesforfullupdate
On rtx4060ti 8gb and I5-13400f ?
Mine recommendations will be 20 for framesforfullupdate as it's a good balance between loading and reduced stutter and 1024 for textures. I do say that 2048 pool size is good too but after a while 2048 pool size causes textures to get compressed as there is no more free Vram space left so the game starts to stutter.
One more thing is that if you are playing at 4k then try DLSS Ultra performance, this decreases the vran requirements by just enough to get a near flat frame time graph. I will be making a separate video on this but why wait for video when you can do this right now 😀
does the poolsize value need to be specific? like can I write any random number like 2500?
@@Darkknight9035 Yes you can write random numbers too. It's just that memory is addressed in 2 to the power of bits because of 0 and 1 as final binary calculations and that results in an even number of bits. This then converted to bytes and so on. Also 1 GB is 1024 MB and since we have space in GBs so most of these weird looking numbers are actually numeric multipliers of 1024MB.
Don't worry you can use any number as you want as these sizes are in MB and doesn't affect anything in a negative way if used in non traditional way 😅
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming the higher the poolsize value the better the textures?
@@Darkknight9035 Depends. The higher the size more space gets allotted for textures to stream in and hence this reduces those texture pops but if this allotted space is not available then this has adverse effects. This is why compressed textures are ok rather than a stuttery gameplay. Also choose a low value where you don't notice compression. This is key in determining how you want the compromise to go in your favor.
It works on my 4050 laptop, thanks man

Hi sir. I have ryzen z1 extreme 16gb ram cpu with integrated gpu. My gpu is set to 6gb vram which pool size is better for me ?
For integrated GPUs I will suggest go for the lowest possible size. I believe 768 was the lowest value other than 1024 from where game starts to get worse in image quality. Check if you can play at 768 pool size. Also set the framesforfullupdates setting to 40. Hope this helps..
@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming ok thank you sir. I will try and keep it posted
Hogwards legacy is a huge cpu and gpu intensive game
1. dlss in nvidia Optimus sucks please don't use that use TAA
2. disable shadows and ray tracing which is bug please disable it
3. It uses dlss 2.3 please update it to 2.5 for non nvidia Optimus users
Also increasing Ram will help as this game has memory leak issues.
not hogwarts related, but do you have a same method for yuzu with tears of the kingdom as a game? its using 86% of my memory

I did this but now my textures are really low and their faces look melted, how can I fix this ?
You need to find a balance and not aim for best performance. These settings has that power that they can smooth the game as a flat line really but what's the point if textures look like you mentioned melted! So begin with a pool size of 2048 and then slowly decrease it by 300 value. once you find that game look ugly enough then just change the value to last one , meaning increase it by 300. This will be the best looking and best performing poolsize for you. Do this for Frames for full updates too. Start with 10 and then slowly increase it by 5 and when you feel like textures loading really slow decrease it by 5 and then you will have best of all worlds!
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming thank you ! I tried that out and now my game runs smooth with the characters having good faces !

You are using an integrated GPU which shares VRam and this game is really VRam dependent.

Your Ram is really low and since it's mobile parts the performance compensation from other parts like CPU and Ram also becomes an issue. This patch generally fix issues related to Vram.
@@Indie1Up_Tech_Gaming thx mate! I appreciate your info
Does 2048 poolsize look noticeably worse than 3072?
2048 is fine it's 1024 that gives visually lower quality and even that is bearable. But when you go below 1024 it will become immediately noticeable. So 2048 is completely fine, it's nearly max to be honest..
i have i5-10300h with gtx1650 4gb vram, how much should i set the poolsize?
1500 as pool size and frames for full update to 20. If only the stutter is unbearable then reduce the pool size to 1024

It has nothing to do with cracked version. You need to increase virtual memory size on your C drive. See my Hogwarts Legacy Lag fix video and increase the Virtual memory size manually to 12 GB
This was by far the best solution for the game's stuttering. Thank you so much sir
EDIT: What's your recommended poolsize value for a GTX 1650 Super with 4gb of vram?

@@piashsharier8261 You mean in game settings? You need to decrease any setting that says Vram and CPU intensive. These are Draw distance setting, Texture setting, effects setting and Population setting. You put these to medium. Also Foliage to high and shadows to low - medium. This will help the game even further..
Which GPU you are using ? my values are 3072 because got 8gb vram 3070 .. what is a logic behind it ?
What is the poolsize for 2gb vram graphic brother?
There won't be much to do for a 2 GB Vram card but you need to have a good look at your current graphic and then put the pool size to 768. If that didn't bring any change then reduce it further by 128 again and again. You will see an image degradation below 768 pool size so try to just increase the Frames for full updates to near about 40. If that didn't bring drastic change try Max of 80. This is all you can do in conjunction with setting Vram related settings in-game to lowest.. Good luck
Nice video! Please recommend values for a 6700 xt? Appreciate it very much.
Frames for full update to 10 or 20. 20 will be smoother but textures will load a bit slower. And pool value to 3072. You may try 2048 Pool size too but 3072 will be just fine for your graphic card!
How else would I find this? Because following the video doesn't help. Currently Windows 11.
Please let us know your GPU as that matters with settings. Also what exactly are your issues to begin with. Let's see if we can fix it..
In terms of visual quality, is it better to do this or reduce the texture quality in game? because I set my game to medium textures and it rarely stutters and still looks very good 3070 Ti 8GB btw, thanks for the video mate

What would be a good poolsize for a 3080TI?
A good pool size for any card is when a game is unable to fill your Vram buffer. Your card has a 12 GB Vram buffer so whatever pool size consumes up to 11 GB would be good. But this game has a memory leak issue so we need to set a bit low in this particular case. You can try setting it to 3072 as you have more vram than our 8 gb cards. This is the recommended size for 8 gb but it still stutters. You can try 4096 too and if it doesn't stutter then keep it otherwise decrease it. First go for 4096 and if not satisfied then only go lower.. Happy gaming
What to do 4 gb Memory vram 3050 RTX 40 watt tdp And 8 ram Cpu i5 10th gen i don't face much stutter but minute and it annoys me
1024 pool size and 20 frames for full update setting will help you in that case

@@Anas_fazil Thank you too friend. BTW I will upload another video of a new fix that is even more beneficial for PC gamers like you. So keep an eye out for at least that one. Happy gaming 😀
Thanks brother Really helpful
Glad to know it helped. Happy gaming 😀
Nothing like an indian man to make my Gaming experience 1000 Times better 1😁
Happy to share this video too 😀
what if my gpu is 3gb vram what pool size should i use?
Then the pool size should be around 1024. Also before changing anything shown in this video just watch how your game looks by default. Then make these changes. Try 512 pool size as your textures might be getting compressed already. If that feels bad look wise then increase the pool size. Basically lower the pool size higher the performance and worse the compression. So it really depends on what you want from your hardware..
I have rtx 3050 with 4vram should i put 1024 or higher
1024 is best for 4 to 6 GB cards. 1500 will be a good compromise for lower stutter and better textures too..
It fixed my stutters and gave me 10fps more. 1050ti ryzen 2600 and 16gb
Glad to know it helped the 1050ti too. Happy gaming 😀
Thank you so much my guy, the game is a lot smoother nou
