I used to serve Emma and her family in a ‚wee Tearoom‘ in Scotland, she always asked for builders tea and would tell me hilarious stories about LA diets😍
What a great story.
I didn’t think it was possible to love her more than I already do! What a brilliantly fun and endearing aura she has.

As a schoolboy brought up in 1950's, Lancashire coalfields. I dreamed of living in the Scottish Highlands. This is after a friend, whose parents had money, they had a shop..came back from a holiday in the Highlands, told me stories of mountains, lakes (lochs), etc. Years later I did just that and got a job working on an estate in the Highlands..with my own little cottage. I lived in Scotland for around 28 years..until I moved overseas. My new home has mountains, lakes etc. Now at 72, I am happy in my new home.
It sounds wonderful- my dream is to move away from London and find a home in Scotland ❤️
@@the_exiled_soul Try for Perthshire and beyond. Just go for it. I had £60 in my pocket when I made my move. I just decided to do it. By the way, my ame 'Soulman' nothing to do with music, it's the spiritual path I took later in life. 😆
@@the_exiled_soul Northan soul. The Casino in Wigan, was the home of Northan soul. I was born in Wigan. Went to the casino many times..also a dive called 'Room At The Top' a great dive. dancing. 😆

Emma Thompson told Graham Norton the same tale and I roared just as madly and appreciatively. I also know that Jonathan Ross isn’t that fantastic a host as I had thought - he interjected at the wrong time and missed the best bit of Emma’s tale. Yay to Graham Norton and the ever so lovely Emma Thompson
I agree that Graham Norton is better, but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. I like a host that isn't perfect for once - more relatable to me :D.
Love Graham Norton, have been watching him forever. Jonathon Ross is the Elmer Fudd of British talk shows. One of these days he's going to have that "wascally wabbit" on as a guest.
How she describes rap music is on point though. I can't stop laughing.
Emma Thompson is a legend, a true phenomenal, talented, lovely, quick wit legend. U.K.'s best as far as I'm concerned.

This is one of my favorite humans on the earth. Beautiful, talented, sane, funny and like all the great British actresses, you will never see her alter her face. So many actresses say they can’t get rolls after a certain age, well, tell that to Emma and Helen Miran and Judy Dench, etc.

If someone, anyone, could just get Ross to shut up while guests are answering his question the world would be a better place. He thinks viewers are interested in what HE has to say.
I agree! I watched a Tom Jones interview from many years ago and Johnathon Ross just would not let him speak.....
All of the host of talk shows in the states talk over all of the guests and it is so annoying! And to top all of them Jimmy Fallon cackles like an old witch at his own unfunny "jokes". I have completely stopped trying to watch any of them.

@@crinkle2649 Not to mention Joe Scarborough on ”Morning Joe”- he even interrupts Mika Brzezinski (his co-host and wife) all the time and spends more time pontificating at his guests than listening to what they have to say. Windbag. (Like Mr. Ross.)

I heard this story before I think with Colbert but this version gave more detail and the best - thanks Emma for the laugh as a fellow ageing woman (in Sydney)
It was on Graham Norton quite sure. I don’t recall her also telling it on colbert and I watch most of her interviews lol

she actually turned down the role long before the meltdown; this episode aired in 2012; furthermore, i think it's wrong to "visit the sins of the fathers upon the children"; that said, ppl are known to be irrational, cowardly and unjust so it's entirely possible his family will suffer cuz of his scandal

I thought she was Scottish tho like I swear she was born there and her moms Scottish what amazes me is his Scotland and England are so freaking close yet they have different accents Ireland I understand it’s off a bit sways but Scotland and England not having the same accent and yes I get there’s a diffrent thod of Scottish accent a different type of English accent friending on where u live but the closes ness of Scotland and England u would think it would just be a different verstion of either a Scottish or English accent for both regions yet the Scottish have I even think there own language like .

Sometimes they need to watch the time window how long they can have for each answer to a question and also, they want to ask all the question they prepared.
Craig Ferguson is an underrated interviewer although he’s Scottish that’s not well known in the 🇬🇧 he did the late late show in America for a few years and you’ll find him on RUclips! You’re welcome....

Funny how, as an Italian, I understand way better British accent than the American one. The words are pronounced more distinctly..
