What can I say really? my whole world as I know it has changed and im almost broken because of it.
As some of you are aware I have lost everything in the Lismore floods that totally wiped the town and surrounding villages and almost did it again only 4 weeks later so I have been busy trying to make sense of it while trying to keep my sanity.
It's been extremely hard both physically and mentally to try and get through this and I was ready to walk after the second flood reared it's ugly head. I don't know what the future holds for me but right now I have to try and sort out the mess that is.
I look a mess I know. I havent shaved since the first flood back in late feb. I've lost a lot of weight as a result of not eating. I've only just brought a laptop and have had to deal with bad phone reception etc. It's a nightmare right now and hearing rain at night is just anxiety inducing to the point of not being able to sleep at all because of ridiculous fear of waking up in knee deep water. I could go on but I think you get the picture. I've put together a few different clips that I have collected since the flood just to give you an idea of what has happened here. I also downloaded a free version of my editing soft ware so excuse the watermark. I don't have any of my old stuff from my old laptop so everything you see is very raw.
Since i lost everything including my camera and my external hard drives I doubt I will be doing any explores again for a while and what I did have saved is now gone. My channel has now changed because of circumstances beyond my control so that could mean the end of my channel because all i'll be posting now for awhile will be house renovation vids. If my description sounds all over the place it's because I am mentally.
I'm lucky that dylan was not home when the flood happened. I'm lucky that the neighbour across the street had two kayaks he tied together to get us and the dogs to safety. I'm extremely grateful that non of the dogs freaked out while hauling them over the veranda railing and placing them into the kayak because I feel sick to my stomach thinking of what might have happened
Im grateful that we got out safe. I'm grateful the house didn't get swept of it's foundations like some I have seen. I'm grateful for all the people that have been there in our time of need with offers of food and shelter. I'm grateful for all the volunteers that saved so many from roof tops. I'm grateful for the ADF for the help they have provided to so many as well as the fire brigade and countless others that have provided support.
I don't know what else to say.

It is only when we see the misfortune of others that we appreciate our own situation. You are a brave soul Michael, dealing with the devastation around you and with your cancer at the same time. Your video, showing not only your own home but some of those around you was done with great sensitivity and respect. If you feel up to filming the renovation of your house then I'm sure we will all keep following you. Gill 🇬🇧

Why don't 'we' ALL get together and send you our SAVED VIDEOS that you've made?! Then the videos wouldn't really all be 'lost'.
While you're working doing important 'stuff' just from time to time pop on a 'saved video' once in a while that could help keep your channel going, hopefully also help you to still get paid by You Tube.
Since it's almost 4 am where I'm at I'll be watching most of this latter today & will put down some good medical info I found that can help with the cancer.

Can understand why you are emotional and shell shocked. Your channel just has to become a renovation one for a while. Sad that your scans aren't good.

I guess in that area one almost has to have a house boat on stilts so it could detach and float if needed.

I have been so worried about you with all the flooding down there. My sister lives between Kyogle and Casino and the flood came up just under the floorboards. I'm so sorry you lost so much but I'm glad your safe. Hoping you get some help from the government to help to fix your place up
I cried for you while watching this.. this crap ain't fair. You've had it so hard the last few years. I know this has been devastating for you're son as well as yourself.In the beginning I watched for the explores but now its to see and hear you because you are more like a friend now.I'll be praying for you morning and night for your healing. Such devastation! I’m so sorry for the loss of the irreplaceable items and your poor chickens and that lovely antique picture of St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower. In happier days we enjoyed watching the Barbara Restoration. This will be your biggest restoration. Stress seems to exacerbate illness. Please pace yourself. You have the caravan to live in while you work. I’m sure some don’t even have that. You are in my prayers always.💖

I am so very sorry this has happened to you, your family and your community. It is devastating, both mentally and physically. Watching your video clips brought back so many vivid memories of my own experiences of what life was like in the aftermath of major flooding, as this year will mark 50-years since Hurricane Agnes hit my hometown in upstate NY - so your first reaction to seeing the horrors of your home in that first walk-through was very touching (I saw my tough, WWII veteran Dad cry for the first time ever that day we walked through our home); ass you tried to comprehend just how fierce that water was flowing in and amongst your stuff by seeing how jumbled everything was (our dinning table was sitting on the washer and dryer in our kitchen); and then seeing the flood mud just everywhere, covering everything (in the few pieces we manage to save, years later we would still see dried, brown mud oozing out of them...and the smell! Oy, that smell of an old river bottom still haunts my dreams), the weeks and months spent just laying everything out on the lawn, in the sun, just hoping it could be saved...especially the photographs - like you, we realized how precious those memories were, those things that could never be replaced. And then you did that walk around the neighborhood, more memories of my own were brought to the surface - of houses torn from their foundation and carried away (one 2-story house laying upside down in the street), but mostly I remember the quiet - it was so very quiet in my neighborhood after the flood, as few people returned to salvage what could be saved of the mess. No electricity. No running water. Sleeping in a borrowed trailer (caravan) in the front lawn (you'd have loved that caravan, Michael, very classic aqua blue and white). We had help though as food and drinkable water was provided for pick-up at the local schools (Army K-rations and bring your own 5-gallon jugs to fill), clothes and shoes donated by the Red Cross and we even had the nearby Genesee beer company fill their cans and bottles with water for us to drink, and delivered it free of charge (since I was just an 8-year old kid at the time, I thought I was pretty cool sitting in the sun with my can of Genesee water); HUD (Housing and Urban Development) delivered hundreds upon hundreds of 2- and 3-bedroom trailers for people to live in while they either repaired what they could or relocated to new neighborhoods, and I'm not certain which government agency (or insurance company) helped with this, but I remember my Mom spending hours listing everything that we lost in a little booklet and, when we moved to our new home about 5-miles away (since even with months of grueling work, our house was condemned), but it was furnished with all new stuff. I hope it goes as well with you there. I hope, as tragic as this is, that before too long you can get a sense of relief and peace and know what was lost was just stuff, the biggest gift of all is looking upon the faces you love and seeing them return your smile...even when you're so gosh dang exhausted you could cry, there will always be that...and I hope someday you can hear the rain again and not get a knot in your stomach, all good things in good time, right? Peace to you and yours, and thank you for letting me ramble on about my own experiences - believe it or not, there will be a time when all this is in your rearview mirror.
Michael, I'm thrilled to hear from you on any subject you have time & energy for. We love you & seriously pray every day the powers that be bolster your health & push down the cancer... or at least hold steady. Hate hearing the scans show growth maybe once you can settle down from the rages of what the flood did to your home & belongings. The video of the night the storm hit looking out at the street turned river with the eerie sound of gas cylinders bumping & making noise as they floated by was like a scary movie. My heart hurts for you & everyone there, looking at the horrendous aftermath @ your home & surrounding homes & businesses. Are you all getting any area assistance/help with food, free damage/rubble removal during this, etc. During the past couple of months? Please keep us updated when you can & only if you're up to it. Totally understandable with so much happening there. Know that you"re in my mind & heart, hang in there, we love ya!

I'm sitting here crying my eyes out I'm so sorry dear and I keep thinking how much more damage there would have been if you house wasn't so high up. I haven't heard anything about the floods I'm in the us. But brother my heart aches for y'all I'm so sorry man. Plz know we're all sending love and prayers as well as patience and well wishes for your health too. I just got my lungs scanned for the 3rd time, noduels and masses so far there not growing.

This just literally breaks my heart 💔 I couldn’t imagine anybody, nobody to have to go through this and you’ve gone through this how many times in your life? I remember when you built that house and you were doing a series of videos showing us from where you were living on the property to building this house, seeing everything you had to go through and getting approved by the city. From the start to the finish all the detail everything that needed to be approved and now you’ve had to go through this a second time this year. I hope you were able to salvage what could be salvageable? Know that you are in our hearts we’re all here for you and you know you’re not alone. You’re strong you have come this far and you will get through this with the grace of God and Jesus by your side when you feel like you’re going to fall he’s going to pick you up because he knows that you’ve got this you’ve been fighting and you’re going to illness remember don’t let any situation control your life you control the situation. Judging by the debris you guys lucked out that nothing hit the under structure of your home and knocked it off those stilts. But man that's crazy. At the very least it didn't float away. Seeing the large stuff float by brought reality to the situation tho.

Hi Michael. I will still follow. I really hope you can recover, I would love to see what the finished product looks like. I had this happen to me in the first flood, I lost most of my clothes, and in the second, half of the walls. I will pray the Lord can heal you, and I'm sending big heaps of love and light. Never apologize for raw emotions, I feel like you are apologising for being real. All that silt starts to stink after a couple of days, I hope that help has come. Don't do any more abandoned explores till you have settled back in. I really feel for you at this horrible time.
