@@dplocksmith91 I almost did this to my own DM once, but he cheated a bit to stop it from happening, my team was facing the big bad of the campaign over a pit of lava and as he was giving his grand speech i teleported next to him, grappled him and then threw him into the lava, my DM's eyes bulged then he said "give me a sec" and poured through all his notes to try and find a way to not let this end this fast, in the end he cheated and used a legendary action to teleport before he hit the lava, even though later we found out this wasn't possible, or at least not until he actually hit the lava, i did get an inspiration point for that though.

Compared to what Goblin Slayer *could* have thought up to wipe them out, this practically counts as euthanasia for those goblins. At least they weren't drowned, burnt alive, slowly poisoned, buried alive, dowsed in acid... the list goes on.

Looks like the elf ranger isn't used to wet work. Especially killing defenseless opponents who can't fight back. When dealing with goblins, however, the kid gloves have to come off.
SHe's also (from what I hear anyway) a shut in that hasn't experienced anything outside of her homeland. So seeing and doing all these things is new, foreign, and (in terms of what happened earlier) traumatizing.
I still find it crazy how he lists all the important reasons goblins are dangerous from day 1. And yet still no one educates people on them. These are literally the number 1 monsters that show up and successfully raid villages and have the ability to become high class monsters...

The second they get organized they immediately become more of a threat but nobody realizes it until it's too late. He may be crazy and jaded but he knows what's going on.

It comes down to not considering them a worthy opponent. Adventuring heroes are always looking for stronger monsters with greater treasure that give more XP. If you aren't lower level you don't want to fight nasty disgusting lower level creatures. Goblin Slayer has the person trauma/hated plus he knows that they are a persistent problem that is bigger than people give it credit for. Which is why this all culminates with an entire horde going to raid the farm which would have then led to them overthrowing the town. Yet everyone felt fighting goblins beneath them.
The Year One side story literally has a girl pointing this out, they can write volumes of text, filled with warnings and lessons, but if people aren't willing to consider them a danger, they'll never even start reading any of it
I never understood why his friends had a problem with the way he dealt with the Goblins. He's been doing it a long time, he's smart and he's figured out ways to quickly and efficiently take out as many of them as possible. I'd understand it more if the Goblins were sad, sympathetic creatures that don't know any better, but they all seems to be naturally evil.

"Gate works anywhere your wizard has seen with his own eyes" "Cast Gate to Surface of the moon" Sucks Tarrasque through hole like the hybrid alien in "Alien Resurrection" as vacuum is non magical it has no defense against it. And since vacuum could literally swallow entire planet if given enough time, there is no saving throw high enough to stop it. The only defense would be teleportation or another gate spell. But since the Tarrasque is a purely physical creature, it may survive the gate transfer but is now stuck off world and can't breathe. Combat ended

Remember: a good DM isn't angry that the players "ruined" their plans for a 40-goblin fight, they are thrilled that the players used their intellect and the tools at their disposal to come up with an awesome way to handle the problem, likely getting a great story out of the encounter. If your characters are roleplaying properly, they likely want to avoid fights. Even the military treats open conflict as a last resort, preferring to deal with enemy positions through other tactics that don't endanger their own lives.
It's also a time-saver. Stick your own blade in that deep and you have to take the time and effort to remove it, probably clean it off after a few uses. Instead, just use their weapons - they don't need 'em anymore, and you can just leave them in and move on.
Yeah , but the guy's been doing it all his life and he's hella ripped , compare to that little girl who's never done this before. Which is weird , considering she's an archer , and actual warbows are so ridiculously hard to draw that you need to be at least as ripped as GS to draw them.
@@afinoxi Archery is hella complex and hard to dominate IRL, not only you have to be strong, you have to be cautious and if you're using it like the old times, you must aim carefully, because there's no sigths for it, that's why medieval archers were hard to train and were limited in number, deployed only in necessary occasions and used mostly for defense It's one of the reasons guns phased out bows even if it meant firing 1 shot per minute against 6 arrows per minute
I don't understand something, did the elf live a very sheltered 2000 years in elf utopia or something? It seems like she became a silver rank without really having to get her hands dirty.
as far as i can tell, while it's not said in the anime or manga, it can be extrapolated that even at 2000 years old she's considered young in terms elf years, this insinuates that elves probably have a very long period where they are considered children, combine that with the fact that she's not just an elf but a high elf and that in most stories involving elves they are a race that tends to shut themselves off from the rest of the world, you can insinuate that she has indeed lived a very sheltered life, probably receiving combat training but not really attaining much combat experience. further proof can be taken from the anime as well, 1) she's the one selected to deal with goblins which are considered by pretty much every nation to be fodder, not much for a seasoned veteran but perfect for a beginner warrior 2) she's very picky about only using elf-made arrows despite the fact that they are an expendable resource, only resorting to using goblin arrows as an absolute last resort 3) despite being 2000 years old her maturity level is around that of high-schooler, perhaps even younger. everything about her character screams "fresh naive adult that is stepping into the real world for the first time"/
She likely only fought in skirmishes with relatively limited numbers of enemies, or with sufficient allies so that each person only had to hand a few. That is one of the problems with goblins- they heavily rely on numbers, and it is exhausting and dirty work to deal that many killing blows, even when they are helpless.

This is exactly why no DM lets me roll a Wizard more than once. I'm kinda shocked at how many assume that I'll actually waste spell slots on 1d4+1 damage to a single target when I have a perfectly good crossbow, especially when I can put entire camps of monsters asleep or drop an oil slick that leads off a cliff with that same spell slot.
Check out "Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards" (for Pathfinder or 5e). Overall guide is boosting your allies and de-buffing your enemies. Boosted allies let them think they are the ones winning fights, and by de-buffing the fights are easier. For example it is better to us Bull's Strength on the Fighter (18 turns of boosted strength minimum), than a Fireball that enemies have a chance to dodge and can only be used once
Listen. Why would we take 6 turns waiting for the fighter to attack 12 enemies or so, when I can roast 8 of them with that fireball, and fry the other 3 left alive (cause the fighter got his turn) with a quick lightning bolt? It's only better to buff your team when there's one or two big guys... and after that I'm still free to throw my fireballs and things.
This is some monkey brain d&d logic...In 5e, Sleep is effectively just another 'by the numbers dmg spell' wherein 5d8 hp worth of enemies fall asleep...except everyone of those enemies gets a save / can be woken up. It's actually numerically less effective than just dealing the exact same amount of damage in a single spell. In 3.5, Sleep is never going to effect a whole camp - due to the non-scaling, 4 HD cap - requires you to get exceptionally close /w a character that can't possibly be sufficiently stealthy to do so, and is immediately countered by either a) a bit of luck on the saves, or b) the opponents waking each other up. Your DMs are actual bots if these strategies are paralyzing them into banning wizards.

Sleep and silence, the ultimate combination! Except in a video game, where after the first hit those effects will pretty much be nullified or have a ridiculous short duration, making them pointless.

Total kills: * Goblin Slayer: 23 goblins; * Lizardman: 14 goblins; * Elf Archer: 1 goblin, but killed 76 times just to make sure - that would not be raised even by Vecna himself.
Consider that his stealth was at such a level that he crept up on an elf ranger/archer in an enclosed environment without being heard. He probably developed the skill to assassinate crowds of sleeping goblins without the aid of sleep spells.
I totally forgot the very 1st seconds of this video. Elf is a Hunter/Ranger, so she have skill to easily detect presense, but GS just casually sneak to her side without her notice until he talked.
1 - GS has been sneaking into goblin dens for 5 years, i'd be more surprised if he wasn't good at it 2 - elf girl was tunnel-visionned on the goblin, mainly due to the hatred she newly acquired after what she saw. it's insane how much tunnel vision can dull all your senses

It would be B as a d20 dice rolling a 1 is literally Orcbolg (Goblin Slayer) whole shtick of him going Red Eye beast mode. The "gods" the series speaks of are literally a DM and their players and Orcbolg is literally the character that they not only allow to break the rules of D&D but actively *encourage* him to even if they never directly address him in the series. After all, of all the beings in their universe, Orcbolg defying their rules, the dice they roll, and acting beyond their control makes him the most interesting and entertaining being in that universe, so why wouldn't he be their favorite?
I'm more concerned the stabbing motion, and the repetitive stabbing, on sleeping enemies is a lot more energy expended and possibility of the weapon being lodged in the body, than just slicing the jugular with the long edge and moving on.

Shooting something dead from yards away is a whole different experience than having to plunge the knife through their bones and organs with your own two hands up close. That's what elf's expression is saying to me right there.
While Goblin Slayer doesn't see himself as a hero or an adventurer, there's no denying he's a professional. All his skill, knowledge and strategy makes him damn near valuable and even irreplaceable.
Early on Goblin Slayer would have a chance, but once the re:monster guy (can't remember name) starts eating god-blessed creatures, Goblin Slayer's chances start going down drastically. Rimuru* Tempest would have a much easier time, pretty much whoever breaks out the hax moves earliest might win.

Yeah , but the guy's been doing it all his life and he's hella ripped , compare to that little girl who's never done this before. Which is weird , considering she's an archer , and actual warbows are so ridiculously hard to draw that you need to be at least as ripped as GS to draw them.
@@afinoxi D&D logic, you only need strength for composite bows (which hers likely isn't), and ranged relies solely on dex if it's not a thrown weapon.
@@afinoxi Archery is hella complex and hard to dominate IRL, not only you have to be strong, you have to be cautious and if you're using it like the old times, you must aim carefully, because there's no sigths for it, that's why medieval archers were hard to train and were limited in number, deployed only in necessary occasions and used mostly for defense
It's one of the reasons guns phased out bows even if it meant firing 1 shot per minute against 6 arrows per minute

I don't understand something, did the elf live a very sheltered 2000 years in elf utopia or something? It seems like she became a silver rank without really having to get her hands dirty.

as far as i can tell, while it's not said in the anime or manga, it can be extrapolated that even at 2000 years old she's considered young in terms elf years, this insinuates that elves probably have a very long period where they are considered children, combine that with the fact that she's not just an elf but a high elf and that in most stories involving elves they are a race that tends to shut themselves off from the rest of the world, you can insinuate that she has indeed lived a very sheltered life, probably receiving combat training but not really attaining much combat experience. further proof can be taken from the anime as well, 1) she's the one selected to deal with goblins which are considered by pretty much every nation to be fodder, not much for a seasoned veteran but perfect for a beginner warrior 2) she's very picky about only using elf-made arrows despite the fact that they are an expendable resource, only resorting to using goblin arrows as an absolute last resort 3) despite being 2000 years old her maturity level is around that of high-schooler, perhaps even younger. everything about her character screams "fresh naive adult that is stepping into the real world for the first time"/

She likely only fought in skirmishes with relatively limited numbers of enemies, or with sufficient allies so that each person only had to hand a few.
That is one of the problems with goblins- they heavily rely on numbers, and it is exhausting and dirty work to deal that many killing blows, even when they are helpless.
We all need to remember he probably didn't have a way of making them fall asleep himself, so he was actually doing something much harder
something along the line of filling up the cavern with flammable gas, setting it on fire and then killing the stragglers as they come outside. drowning them with the scroll of water he had prepared or worse.
This is exactly why no DM lets me roll a Wizard more than once. I'm kinda shocked at how many assume that I'll actually waste spell slots on 1d4+1 damage to a single target when I have a perfectly good crossbow, especially when I can put entire camps of monsters asleep or drop an oil slick that leads off a cliff with that same spell slot.
Check out "Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards" (for Pathfinder or 5e). Overall guide is boosting your allies and de-buffing your enemies. Boosted allies let them think they are the ones winning fights, and by de-buffing the fights are easier. For example it is better to us Bull's Strength on the Fighter (18 turns of boosted strength minimum), than a Fireball that enemies have a chance to dodge and can only be used once

Listen. Why would we take 6 turns waiting for the fighter to attack 12 enemies or so, when I can roast 8 of them with that fireball, and fry the other 3 left alive (cause the fighter got his turn) with a quick lightning bolt? It's only better to buff your team when there's one or two big guys... and after that I'm still free to throw my fireballs and things.

This is some monkey brain d&d logic...In 5e, Sleep is effectively just another 'by the numbers dmg spell' wherein 5d8 hp worth of enemies fall asleep...except everyone of those enemies gets a save / can be woken up. It's actually numerically less effective than just dealing the exact same amount of damage in a single spell. In 3.5, Sleep is never going to effect a whole camp - due to the non-scaling, 4 HD cap - requires you to get exceptionally close /w a character that can't possibly be sufficiently stealthy to do so, and is immediately countered by either a) a bit of luck on the saves, or b) the opponents waking each other up.
Your DMs are actual bots if these strategies are paralyzing them into banning wizards.

Consider that his stealth was at such a level that he crept up on an elf ranger/archer in an enclosed environment without being heard. He probably developed the skill to assassinate crowds of sleeping goblins without the aid of sleep spells.

Elf is a Hunter/Ranger, so she have skill to easily detect presense, but GS just casually sneak to her side without her notice until he talked.
1 - GS has been sneaking into goblin dens for 5 years, i'd be more surprised if he wasn't good at it
2 - elf girl was tunnel-visionned on the goblin, mainly due to the hatred she newly acquired after what she saw. it's insane how much tunnel vision can dull all your senses

I kinda laughed when Elf Archer just got shocked and gasped from seeing a bunch of goblins sleeping. It felt way over what was needed , but was hilarious.

The character's names are hardly mentioned or not even mentioned at all. They are just called cleric/priestess, dwarf, elf, and of course goblin slayer.
It would be B as a d20 dice rolling a 1 is literally Orcbolg (Goblin Slayer) whole shtick of him going Red Eye beast mode. The "gods" the series speaks of are literally a DM and their players and Orcbolg is literally the character that they not only allow to break the rules of D&D but actively *encourage* him to even if they never directly address him in the series. After all, of all the beings in their universe, Orcbolg defying their rules, the dice they roll, and acting beyond their control makes him the most interesting and entertaining being in that universe, so why wouldn't he be their favorite?
I'm more concerned the stabbing motion, and the repetitive stabbing, on sleeping enemies is a lot more energy expended and possibility of the weapon being lodged in the body, than just slicing the jugular with the long edge and moving on.
