I have reused my head bolts at least 5 times, thank you Matt if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have a turbo LS on a Terminator

You definitely missed torquing one of the head bolts on cylinder 1, but I'm assuming you only did that to trigger us 😊

Just a heads up for everybody, a lot of LS9 head gaskets over the last year got made with “front” printed on the wrong end. Pretty much all the major brands of LS9 gaskets come from the same company that makes the GM gaskets, so be sure the end with the holes for coolant to pass through get installed towards the rear of the engine.

Dude, I owe you a drink. I had never heard of this before. I put my heads on and tightened the bolts down, and played this video while doing the final torque. I saw your comment and scratched my head. I bought 3 sets of gaskets years ago and checked the other gaskets. Sure enough, they were printed wrong! I pulled the heads back off, and you saved me. Thank you for your comment.

You forgot to torque the head bolt closest to the waterpump outlet. Cylinder 1 top left bolt.

Ps. Currently building my third home spun turbo project ( second turbo LSx Foxbody). In between was a turbo big block Chevy Factory Five pickup.
None of them would have happened had I not found your RUclips channel and learned about 6 years university worth of knowledge.
    Thank you Matt!!!

I'm switching mine to ls9s now. Pushing water anything past 15psi on my sbe 5.3. I reused the head bolts Soo many times a buddy of mine gifted me a set of arp bolts. But even they couldn't save the coolant pressure lol 20psi 17° on e85 fairly conservative still pushed water fingers crossed the 7 layer ls9s do the trick and nothing is warped lol.

Beginning was spot on. 😂. Just FYI, I bought one of those Quinn digital torque wrenches from Harbor Freight a couple years ago to do the TTY bullshit and it works great. I think it was around $125 with a coupon I had. I’ve put two engines together and done a couple head replacements with it and it’s been flawless. So are those the BTR LS9 style small bore gaskets? Cause I’ve got a set of them sitting here for when I put this LC9 back together. Guess I’ll get to see you test them out first. Lol.

Really liking the old time ‘back to slop’ content!
A quick question…do you have an approximate torque spec you use for reused bolts? Look like you’re putting between 65 and 75 lb/ft on them…so I’m curious.
Have been watching your videos since 2008.
    Cheers
