Beautiful metaphor. The december as a representative of the cold, dark period of time, but with its small moments of beauty (christmas, new year) translates to these sad periods we sometimes find ourselves in, yet Dermot tells us that there is always this window of happiness amongst our darkest hours. I sincerely thought we were lost forever.
Thank our Heavenly Father for the gifts He gave Dermot and bless Dermot for his passion, his poetry and his willingness to sacrifice of himself to make the world brighter for so many other people.
Must be the Tiny Desk Vibe... 'An Evening I will not forget' (4:39) became definitly one of my all time favorites! Hadn´t known him before and haven´t found a better performance of him so far! Not the first time I have discovered artists here with maybe their best performance ever! 👏
He and his singers are so gorgeous, what emotion and power. The audience, however, is pretty lackluster. Come on people, holler for beauty!!
They were in awe.
You are pretty beautiful yourself 😍
Most TDC I've seen, I always wonder why the audience is so quiet. I would be shouting, in tears, singing along, etc.
The "Backup singers" are front up! Exquisite all together, big juicy sound!
Live Dermot is something every damn person should experience. Transcends anything that can be explained
Fact
His music is painfully beautiful
I experienced a kind of shock when I heard the first seconds of the first song. I feel blessed. Love to you all.
I feel this in my SPIRIT!!! I am a FAN!!!
Spirit, indeed ;)
Dermot kennedy the goat. Been following this dude for a long time. Its nice to see him the recognition he deserves.
the way one of the back up singers looks at dermot while hes singing "an evening I will not forget"
seriously that is a mood!
Son: Dad, why is my sister's name Rose?
Dad: Because your Mother loves roses.
Son: Thanks, Dad.
Dad: No problem, Dermot Kennedy: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
I don't get it... Lol
Anthony Gangi the “mother” loves roses, the “father” loves this tiny desk performance lol
Dying
Hahahaha brilliant!!🤣🤣
okay big man, you win the internet 😂
Dear God the drummer. You can tell that that’s his life line with the passion in which he plays.
Praise anyone who made this performance possible. I guess Dermot for starters. Love.
Truth be told i wasn't going to watch this , but im glad I did.
Same
Niesha Travis yooo literally same
Me too
COLORS and NPR should get married.
Yep! Two best channels in the moment for me right now.
Really like what KEXP is doing too :)
So true... and also Mahogany Sessions, and Sofar
i like all of them for separate reasons, colors for introduction and aesthetics, mahogany for acoustic versions, KEXP for the concert-like performance and the interviews and lastly NPR for its stripped down, and impeccable recording sound
Ok. So I’m late. What are these other channels?
This man toured all over the world and we got to watch him in Dublin on Christmas eve. Without a shadow of a doubt the greatest concert I've seen
I can only imagine what a blessing it would be to have part in being in the presence of this talented man.
My God. He's beautiful, you can just about read everything he's feeling in each song...amazing. He needs to be given so much more credit. That voice is something so different ❤
The way the backup singers are looking at him when he sings is everything. I love that these singers were from Howard and were exposed to how far soul music's influence has reached. It upsets me that America is so so shut off from the rest of the talented ppl around the world.
I have zero clue how I found this but my god I am so thankful this passion is unmatched
At every radio performance Dermot has done, he and his team scout out amazing local background singers. I've seen so many of them and the background singers are always different - even when he goes back to the same city/station for a second time. I love them scouting out local talent.
