If the bird enemies in the final palace of Zelda II seen at 20:08 are called Fokkas, and the bird knights at 19:58 are called Fokka knights, then I guess that the giant bird boss seen at 20:17 is called the Mother Fokka. A big Mother Fokka at that.
If you aren't prepared and "grind" stuffs and money, plus not knowing the hidden locations for bonus ruppies and Hearts, You're fucked at the 2nd half. However, the Death Mountain in the 2nd run is a bit easier than the 1st one...
I can be a high strung/ anxious person and even I agree. I loved the time because it made the world feel real and lived in. There was always something happening at a certain time.
And the replay value is very good, you can play without slowing down time and this makes the dungeon much more difficult. Almost a different dungeon because you have to be fast
@@petitthom2886yeah kind of - of course its harder, but if you played MM 3-5times you havent any time problems especially in Great Bay - its damn short :o and of course you will reset time before going in every dungeon, just because you have more knowledge :D MM best game
The hardest part of the later dungeons in Link's Awakening is to remember which set of stairs leads where. Thank God that you can put marks on the map in the remake.
Ganon's Tower in LotP is harder than both the Ice Palace and Turtle Rock. You might think you got past the hard part on getting the red mail, but you will then have to face a brutal gauntlet of the toughest enemies with minimal hearts on the way. At least the boss is easy.
It's been getting much more attention now with its last 2 entries. I personally am glad now to see it getting the credit it deserves, or for the 1st time in a while, as there was a time where it wasnt adored as much
I feel Dark Hyrule Castle from The minish cap should be here somewhere. Its not hard at the start, but its ending is gruesome: defeat some of the hardest enemies (including 3 dark nuts) during a time limit to reach one of the hardest final bosses of the franchise, Vaati
Honestly with OoT you said it yourself. Tedious doesn’t equal hard. Therefore I’d say not the Water Temple, but either Shadow or Jabu Jabu for that frankly. The water temple isn’t hard. It’s just tedious as hell.
While I’d say I had the same frustration with the Water Temple as a kid, I’d say Forest Temple or Shadow Temple were more challenging or difficult. I believe we all just missed the platform that raised in the center of the temple with the water.
It's quite easy to miss a key on the first playthrough. When I first played the game, both me and my sister got stuck on both our save files because we were one key short. It turned out it wasn't even the same key. I found one key that she had missed and she found the key that I missed.
i agree 100%. i never understood the water temple criticism; never found changing the levels to be all that tedious, and the difficulty of the puzzles + boss weren't bad at all. shadow temple gave me a much bigger headache.
Hot take: The Water temple is one of the best Zelda dungeons. I like difficulty in Zelda games and it has that. The navigation is the hardest part and switching between Iron boots is annoying but in the 3DS version it is made easier and the pacts to switch the water level is color coded. Also if you use the Biggoron Sword or wait till it stops copying your move Dark Link is a pushover.
I beat the Water Temple on my first try in the 3DS remake, and without a guide. I also didn’t have the Biggoron Sword for the Dark Link fight, but I still got through the Water Temple very easily.
Easiest way I've defeated Dark Link is to just...not use the Z targeting. He copies you big time when Z Targeting, but when you don't, he has a hard time mimicking you
One of the greatest feelings now is when I play through again and I basically speed run these dungeons. Turtle Rock and Ganons Tower I blasted through the fastest I ever had last year when I was stoned with my friends.
I mean.. it CAN be the hardest dungeon - when you go there with 3 hearts, no weapons and no food.. otherwise.. yeah. Its a joke difficulty wise when you have unlimited heal items, all.. or almost every heart, good weapons...
Just replayed links awakening again ,and yeah those last two dungeons are a pain in the ass. Of course the great palace is #1, that thunderbird fight is brutal, even with the spell. Solid list
I hate snowhead more than stonetower in majoras mask. I know i did this dungeon legit a single time as a child back then at its release but today i cant figure out how to do the dungeon properly by raising the pillar and adjusting its height so everytime i get there i just use scarecrow hookshot and bomb hovers to just instantly climbing it without caring for anything.
@Christian.Guluarte.03 even the OoT water temple had a specific pattern which once you learned it made the dungeon pretty doable. I think the most frustrating thing was the fact that you constantly had to switch boots which you could only do in the menu
I played Oracle of ages when i was like 8-9 yrs old and it actually gave me a lot of headaches and frustrations and it felt so rewarding beating that game at that time especially when YT wasn't a thing
In my opinion, the great palace only has one boss. Link's Shadow isn't really even a fight in this game. All you do is crouch in a corner, swinging your sword, and let it run into it.
Stone Tower Temple, Great Bay Temple, Great Palace, Turtle Rock (ALttP), Ice Palace (ALttP), and Ganon's Tower (ALttP) are all ones that stumped me hardest.
I found City in the sky more frustrating and time consuming than difficult, which was a shame because otherwise it had some great ideas and one of the most fun items in the game
The thing I found most challenging in The Stone Tower Temple was finding out that it flips. It didn’t occur to me that you have to go outside of the temple to progress
Yeah, it's not like the Wind Waker is known for difficult dungeons, and the other three are often considered some of the easiest games. The hardest dungeon in Wind Waker is the very first one, mostly because you have to do most of it without your sword, and getting caught can set you back quite a bit. But once you know how to do it, it's more tedious than difficult.
I guess it’s my fault for having expectations, but this video basically boils down to: the final dungeon in each game. Which makes sense, since it’s, ya know, the final dungeon in the game.
Just recently replayed Minish Cap and one of the biggest reasons Palace of Winds is so tough is because its unbelievably stingy with hearts. Nearly every enemy just drops rupees instead.
I still find it odd that people still actively call OoT Water Temple difficult. It’s not really hard at all, it’s more or less just the necessity of constant backtracking.
* Glad you got the Ice Palace in there for Link To The Past. Good Call. The first time I played that I was stuck goin gin circles for sooo long. And the ice definitely did not help. * Also glad you got Eagle's Tower in there for Links Awakening - I went in circles and backtracked so many times trying to get the last iron ball where I needed it to take out the last pillar. Whew. * Also, Also - surprised The OoT Water Temple wasn't first! But the first choice does make sense!
I have everything about Ocarina of Time fully memorized. I've beaten that game countless times. I even do the dungeons in a alternate order... I have to say, that the Water Temple. despite the fact that you have to manage the Ocarina and the Iron Boots...the dungeon has the main hall making it very easy to navigate and clear quite easily. I don't know everyone has so much trouble with it.
Yeah personally it didn't even come close to living up the horror stories around it. Got annoyed by constantly having to menu out and change boots in the 64 version, but that's it.
in LOZ....level 6 & 9 (1st Quest), 6,7,& 8 (2nd quest). ZII AoL....Island Palace, Three-Rock Palace & the Great Palace, just getting there alone is a challenge. Moas (the flying eye balls) & lizaolfs Z LtoP....Skull Palace (i hate that palace, anything with wallmasters), Turtle Rock
Personally I love the Great Bay Temple from Majora's Mask, the most interesting and by far the easiest water level ever created in a Zelda game due to being extremely straight forward. Lakebed from Twilight Princess on the other hand... Nightmare.
Yeah, Level 6 (Dragon) in the original Legend of Zelda's 1st Quest I know is hard--especially the room with Like Likes AND Wizzrobes! Oh, how I hated that room! (As much as I hated Manhandla back in the day!)
You can cheese the Ice Palace in LttP (in the orig SNES version) by doing Misery Mire first for the Cane of Somaria, which can be used to weigh down the switch on B6. Basically try to get down to B6 as quickly as possible (need a few small keys) and you win, Kholdstare is one of the easiest bosses especially if you have Bombos and the magic meter upgrade.
I really don't think BotW's Hyrule Castle should have made the list. Sure if you want to explore every room you're going to be in for some tough fights but when you can bypass the whole thing it doesn't qualify as difficult. It's an optional challenge when things like Ganon's Tower in OoT also has a bunch of tough fights and they are required.
My main problem with Great Bay Temple is that its much to short and to easy... even without manipulate time you are through in less than 18 ingame hours.... I really like Great Bay, but its just too short
Not a single Links Awakening dungeon belongs on thus list. As for the Water Temple, I mean it's tedious but as long as you have a walk through it's not that hard. To me, Great Bay Temple and Turtle Rock ( Link to the Past) are the two most sadistic dungeons I have ever tackled.
I would also mention Zelda 2 does not phase me as long as I play on an emulator (I legally own the game). No, I don't use save states but using a keyboard instead of a controller makes the required movements easier for me.
lol "as long as you have a walk-through" thats like saying a test isn't hard as long as you have the answer sheet, it defeats the purpose of the challenge
Interesting takes however I disagree with Ocarina of time, Major a's masks and Skyward swords' placements as the water dungeon other than Dark link is not very mechanically challenging. It should be swapped with the shadow Temple as you have wind physics invisibility shenanigan's and loads of enemies and not many pots so If you're not prepared then you're going to die as in some areas there is basically nowhere to heal. For Majora's mask the only thing really hard about great bay is the boss Gyrog's arena being badly designed. Instead the Moon dungeon should take it's place As it will test you on all the challenging mechanics to prove that your worthy of the feirce deity mask. For Skyward sowrd I would put in the Ancient Cistern temple as back when I was a kid the idea of swinging a whip felt really unfamiliar which made the boss more challenging as well as the puzzles. Plus you also have your memory tested with combination locks that you have to risk your life to access through careful swimming. As for Links awaking, Phantom hourglass and spirit tracks, While the backtracking can be annoying I think it's worth mention that those games let you make notes in their own way so If your lost for hours on that part then it's a skill issue. As for Twilight princess I don't think any of it's Dungeons should have made it on the list as City in the sky isn't that bad unless you have 3d gyro motion eye issues. Other than that great video
The Water Temple from the original version of Ocarina of Time was annoying, considering that you have to pause the game multiple times to put on/take off the Iron Boots, thankfully they made the Iron Boots an equippable item in the 3DS remake
Also ich fand Hyrule Castle in BOTW echt einfach. Wenn man über die drei Wasserfälle ins Schloß ist, war man in 10-15 Minuten beim Final Fight ohne einen einzigen Zwischenboss
I still argue the the water temple isn’t as hard as everyone says. Yes it was hard at the time, but now with the advent of video walkthroughs, I’d argue that the level has gotten much more easier. It’s frustrating but it isn’t hard. I think the Spirit Temple is way harder than the Water Temple.
Skull Woods is one of the shortest dungeons in the Zelda franchise if you know what to do. Get the Big Key first, then the Fire Rod, go back to the area with the Big Key but go west this time, before you exit find a small key under one of the pots. Then when you get to the final (very linear) section, you can just go straight ahead and unlock the door and proceed on to Mothula, if you got the Cape this becomes a joke.
Water Temple isn't hard. It's tedious and annoying, especially on the n64 and GameCube versions. But it's far from one of the hardest dungeons. Honestly the Shadow or Spirit Temples are harder
I’ve personally never found the OoT Water Temple that hard at all! Tedious and annoying at times yeah. But hard, no. The first time I ever played it back in like 98 or 99 I beat by myself with not too much difficulty. It’s just annoying if anything.
I'm sorry, but I gotta take issue with including BotW Hyrule Castle. Sure it's imposing on the outside with all the sentinels roaming about. But even if you're not good at deflecting beams, you can dodge past most of them. And inside is mostly just bokoblins and other enemies. And including a Link's awakening dungeon in different versions separately and then combining versions for another? Sorry, this was a top 19 list. Not 20
Wow, okay, I'd also say that these dungeons are the most fun and rewarding. Don't know why you put in BOTW in there since you can cheese and bypass everything. All you need is waterfall scaling and updraft, and you're done. There are several reasons BOTW and TOTK dungeons are not worthy to be on this list.
I disliked skull woods in link to the past. So many exits and entrances, easy to get lost. Plus many rooms had the infamous wall masters ready to take back to the beginning! Tbh, i found most b if not all dungeons with wall masters to be a pain
Ok the BotW castle is not that hard of a dungeon you can just run away from 90% of the enemies the only time your forced to fight would be if you try and get the shield

I actually didn’t struggle at water temple at all without any tutorials, lucky me😂
Great Bay Temple is not hard but it's easily the most annoying
I never found it annoying. In fact, I think it's one of the best dungeons in the series.
Actually jabu jabu's belly is the hardest dungeon in the entire series
I remember not being sold on links awakening remake, but now i want every game remade and its spoiled me
Skull Woods: ALTTP . . Am I wrong?
Skull Woods is one of the shortest dungeons in the Zelda franchise if you know what to do. Get the Big Key first, then the Fire Rod, go back to the area with the Big Key but go west this time, before you exit find a small key under one of the pots. Then when you get to the final (very linear) section, you can just go straight ahead and unlock the door and proceed on to Mothula, if you got the Cape this becomes a joke.
Great bay was probably the best dungeon ever made. At least it was top 5 for me
Putting stuff like the water temple above death mountain solely due to tedium is ridiculous
I love the Sky Keep
Hot take: the stigma against the water temple is unjustified

The city in the sky reminds me of the dungeon in skyward sword
damn...im seeing lots of zelda contents lately when i just started playing botw lmao
That’s hilarious
I’m a little surprised that the water temple is not top of the list.
The Water Temple from Ocarina of Time is hard. I beat it on my first try in the 3DS remake. Without a guide.
Tears of the Kingdom feels like Ike long complicated dungeon.
If anyone says the water temple in ocarina of time is hard they really just need to get good. It's not a hard temple
In ALttP, I think the ice caverns was harder to beat because of the god forsaken ice mechanics, and the annoying levels.
Not 20
The final fight in BOTW felt way too easy; just me ?
I remember how long it took me to beat heras tower in alttp with that stupid boss
List is kinda wrong but i get the diversity. If the list was true, top 7 would all be Zelda 2 dungeons
Great video Great videogame Great youTube player
I disliked skull woods in link to the past. So many exits and entrances, easy to get lost. Plus many rooms had the infamous wall masters ready to take back to the beginning!
Tbh, i found most b if not all dungeons with wall masters to be a pain
You put dark link instead of mothra poor amoeba
O,25 no that nightmares
The Water Temple isn’t even that hard… it’s just a massive slog
Hard is different from tedious - I’d say the water dungeon is tedious as you say in the video. Great bay temple is harder imo
You should unstretch the 4:3 footage and reupload the video.
stonetower and city from twilight? you never play any of this 2 games or?
Only the major console releases count tbh
ill choose water temple over great bay any day f the week
Ok the BotW castle is not that hard of a dungeon you can just run away from 90% of the enemies the only time your forced to fight would be if you try and get the shield
