Where does leadership come into this?

    • @Dr_Larken
      @Dr_Larken 2 месяца назад +6

@@TTFN55 it’s leadership! Just because you have a high rank or in charge of a bunch of Marines. It does not mean you’re a good leader! The OIC under a firefight may freeze and an NCO or fellow young devil “even the kid you never imagined” would be the one keeping his shit together, directing other Marines being that leader, we never asked for but needed!
Personally, I think leadership you either have it or you don’t! You may be able to get it overtime, but I think & believe there’s two types of good leaders, natural and power-hungry/ drivin! What I mean by that is some people crave the power and ultimately end up in a leadership position. Others end up in a leadership position and or phenomenal leaders, they could care less, but when they need to leave, they lead well!
Edit: knowing your shit, confidence and putting someone in their place when they’re out of line!

Power can be both perceived and actual. Perceived power can vanish nearly instantly -- in a word, this power is perceptual, it is in context of the senses. Actual power is grounded in reality -- this consists of physical, financial and mental strength. One does not perceive oneself to the tops of the highest, coldest, most remote and dangerous mountains on Earth.

They have created false ceilings for all of us to protect "their" lifestyles, how best to do it but to indoctrinate the children early and often. A way the government does it is by giving financial aide to the states but only if they implement certain protocols in schools, public life and policy. So the heads of that particular state are held by their own greed.

Reputation creates an invisible compounding effect that works in the background, either for or against you, depending on your past actions that have shaped your reputation. If you have a good reputation, everything you do benefits from it, even minor mistakes may be viewed more leniently. However, with a bad reputation, negative actions are magnified, and positive ones are minimized. Be mindful of how you continue to shape your reputation today, as it can impact your future self. Keep this in the back of your mind when making decisions or actions.

People aren’t the only thing continually judging you. Your iPhone is doing it now. People have zero clue how sophisticated the AI interface is on their phones. It isn’t just listening, tracking and, seeing you. It’s actually thinking about what kind of person you are. It’s way beyond simple anymore. It’s digging into your personality, your friends, your perspectives. Your phone is a valve through which your entire life passes. And you cannot turn it off. If you throw it away your acquaintances phones will pick up where yours left off. Think about that.

Reputation is like a box. It's human nature to categorize you and mentally place you into a labeled box. If you jump out of that box, it makes them uncomfortable and they don't know what to do with you. Now they have to rearrange all of those mental boxes in their mind and it throws their perception of things out of whack. It's fine if that box is categorized 'loser' or 'nobody' and you jump out, but if your box is categorized as 'top dog' and you jump out, it causes one hell of a stir.

I do it while batting... skilled players will look at your foot position to gauge where you will hit the ball... well I just add an extra movement or two to make it look like I'm doing one thing but then I do the opposite.

The Midwest is known for a pleasant and passive culture. Charlie Barens the comedian has made a career from it. I realized lately that they are that way because they have to play the long game in classically small and non transient communities. A harsh word or mis step can affect your standing for life. Gma always kept a certain amount of money in the bank because the tellers would gossip to the town who had money problems.
The upside to this culture is the peace and prosperity of the Midwest. The downside is the passive aggressiveness plus depression and alcoholism and whatever else would never be discussed so suicide happens in bad times

    ChatGPT:
"Psychologists and academics tend to be skeptical of Robert Greene’s work because it lacks empirical evidence and scientific rigor. His ideas are usually categorized as popular psychology or self-help rather than serious psychology. Most psychologists wouldn’t rely on Greene's books for insights into human behavior or power dynamics, as they prefer theories backed by research and reproducible results.
However, his work is often embraced by people who find his narrative appealing-especially those who are interested in strategies for gaining power or influence. It's less about it passing a rigorous "reality test" and more about resonating with people who like his framing of history and human behavior. In short, Greene's ideas appeal more to individuals who are drawn to his storytelling."
In short, everything he writes is BS with good story telling to make it sound true

My background is Org Psych and I’m a successful CEO. Most of my career has been studying successful CEO’s. Some of what Green says is true but mostly it’s an observation of psychopaths and sociopaths in power. It is not what’s required to be there but rather an observation of many that get there. Point being, what he describes is not a recipe for success but rather a common glitch in the system. If he’s describing a glitch to enable it be fixed, great but, I rather think he’s describing what he thinks it takes to get to the top. In that regard, he’s offering very poor advice. Some of the most successful people in the world are very little Iike Greene describes. Many are, many are not. I suspect he’s hung around with and read up too much of the wrong type of leader. His personal fascination with Julius Ceaser is case in point. Ceaser existed in another time when the only way to the top was how Green thinks it still works. The world evolves and Greene misses that critical point.

@@averyintelligenceyes but mine is based on 20+ years working and studying ceos and political leaders intensively and internationally. Many are like Greene describes but critically, many are not. Suspect he’s done far less work to have concluded anything solid.

The first video of Greene that I didn’t like. The only reputation that should matter is the one you have with your self. Worrying about how people perceive you and adjusting your behaviour to fit that perception you want other people, who don’t even know you, to have of you, is a waste of time and leads to emptiness. It’s shallow.

@@SensibleNutter Actually, I do. Power, especially in the context of politics, is nothing more than attaining control of apparatus that allows one to dominate others. Desiring that, in itself, is sociopathic in nature. Add to that the fact that arrogance, deceit, treachery, and corruption are what leads to attaining that power, and you have the ingredients for a sociopathic playground.
