I'd like you to do a video about the Limited Express trains on both JR and private railways. For anyone who wants the full Japanese rail experience, they're essential. Many of them have unique design features that give them individual character. The advantage they have over the Shinkansen is that you really get to see the scenery, some of them offer a forward view. One train that was particularly enjoyable was the Wide View Shinano from Nagano to Nagoya. I managed to get a front row seat behind the cab's clear partition. It was like a bigger and faster version of the Swiss mountain railways and when it really started moving, it was like an amusement park ride. There are trains like this in most areas of Japan along with plenty of spectacular scenery.
That sounds fantastic! Added it to my list for Matsumoto (which is where I was going to go on my cancelled trip last year)! Can't get enough of Japanese trains!
Yes please to more train videos! When we visit we want to go on as many train trips as we can. Two of my fiancé's great loves are trains and penguins so he really enjoyed this video 😊
Hi Amy, can’t wait to go back to Japan (I’ll carry your book this time!). I’m very curious, have you booked your flights to Japan? If not when are you planning to visit? I should have travelled in April this year but couldn’t.. I’m still undecided whether I’ll go in Spring time or Autumn. Thanks for the video!
I can't wait to go back, but I'm waiting to see what happens before booking anything. So far there's no indication on when Japan will be re-opening to foreign tourists, and I don't want to risk cancelling again and possibly losing money. Japan's being quite slow with the vaccinations, and the overall situation's so unpredictable. So personally I'm waiting to see what happens. Both spring and autumn are great times to go though so either would be good!
The galaxy train reminded me of the anime Galaxy Express, with a train travelling through space, have you seen it? I loved it but it’s an old one though, I watched it I think in the early 80s!!
I haven't watched it but I recognise one of the characters! I think there was a cut-out of her in the Himiko boat in Tokyo (which was designed by the same anime artist!).
@@cakeswithfaces the blond lady with the black fur coat? Yes she’s quite iconic, I also used to watch Captain Harlock which might have been by the same artists as they are very similar. Both quite melancholic but beautiful anime.
I wonder if the planetarium trains are references to Ginga Tesudo no Yoru, which I read in translation as Night on the Galactic Railroad. It's a childrens' book, but I want to warn that the ending might be a bit shocking.
It could be! Sometimes childrens stories have a special place in peoples' hearts! Definitely going to keep an eye out for Suica penguin merch next time...
Random question (: How does it feel visiting Japan with unusual/fashion hair colors? Do you think it gets more negative attention? Planning my first trip to Japan, and I'm just curious o:
I'd say you get more attention, but not necessarily negative. Obviously it's a generalisation, but Japanese people tend to be quite polite and reserved, so I think there are more people looking but I haven't experiences anything negative. I think in most countries colourful hair makes you stand out so that can happen anywhere! :-) A few times people have wanted to take a picture with me - and in Harajuku other tourists wanted to take photos of me.
@@cakeswithfaces to be fair, there should be trains going around the world. I would be more comfortable spending 22 hours on a train, rather on a plane any day
Japan so Amazing ❤️🇯🇵 thank you for 🎬 nice documentary 👏🌹🤩💫🌏
It really is!! Glad you enjoyed it! :-)
I dare anyone not to fall asleep in any Japanese trains in winter. Those heated seats in winter are addictive.
💤💤💤
OMG! Can't wait to go back
Me too!!! 🤞

@@cakeswithfaces Bazinga!
The penguin cafe and hotel looked adorable! The lamp was ridiculously cute.
I'd love to go to the Penguin afternoon tea - too cute to eat!!
I didn't know that I was a fan of the Suica penguin until now.
Somehow the combination of penguin + sweets makes it even cuter!
I took the random tram in 2019 to Arashiyama. It was a great experience. and schoolchildren etc were using it as well.
It's interesting seeing all the residential streets and houses along the way!
wow, that's so cool! Yes please keep showing us more trains please. :D
I think there'll definitely need to be more train videos...!
Hey Amy I enjoy your new videos.
Thank you!! Hopefully I'll make some more train videos in the future!
I can t wait Amy.

If there is a MUGEN TRAIN, I'd def ride it, even if it costs me my life. (Slowly...slowly...into the dream...)
😱😱😱
This was really really fun to watch! I love the galaxy train! I could be curious to see more trains featured! :D
Thanks! I think more train videos will have to happen...! :-)

And now I want little Suica Penguin stickers to put over all my lamps to get fun faces. :)

Definitely going to keep an eye out for Suica penguin merch next time...
If you like unusual trains try Ressha Sentai Toquger and Kaman Rider Den O
Thanks for the recommendations!

Did someone say TRAINS!?!?

Japan: Already preparing for a climate change end of the world Snowpiercer scenario
😂😂I kept thinking about Snowpiercer in the part about the luxury train!! First class!
@@cakeswithfaces to be fair, there should be trains going around the world. I would be more comfortable spending 22 hours on a train, rather on a plane any day
It vexes me terribly that air travel, very polluting, is cheaper than the environmentally safer train travel.
