For me the Wide Wheel was the sweet spot - got it a couple of weeks ago and I love it. No way I was riding on damaged city streets as a daily commute without a suspension, so the Boosted Rev was out. And while I like the Turbo Wheel, it’s just too big and heavy to be storing in the corner of my office every day. Just doesn’t look ideal for tight spaces, either on the road or in storage. The Wide Wheel has worked out perfectly, and costed much less (preorder was $1,000 for the dual motor version, which was over $600 less than the other two).
I was deciding between the Zero 10x (same scooter as the turbo lightning), the mercane wide wheel dual, and the boosted rev. I ended up putting a pre order in for the boosted. Although it is slower and has no suspension, I think boosted quality is simply unmatched. I have multiple electric skateboards, some being even more expensive than my boosted and still my boosted is the best and most durable board I have. This is why I made the choice I made.
The lack of suspension at that price bracket is unbelievable, they’re selling to their skateboard market primarily, if you’re into action scooters you’re not going to buy that, even city riding is going to be uncomfortable, and you’re probably end up buying another scooter with suspension in a few years time
@@SharpFitnessLook I was thinking that but at the same time I have a scooter with air tires and it handles bumps pretty well. For me I live on a 4th story walk up apart in NYC and have to carry it up which was another factor.
They are all great scooters. Just depends what you mainly use it for. If commuting take the turbowheel. If on a budget then the boosted. If on a budget, and you want something for messing around in then the widewheel is good as it has suspension compared to none on the boosted. I need suspension as the roads are not great where i am so boosted will not do. Ive gone for widewheel as i dont need more than 1000w.
The power of this thing is insane u do 30mph in less then u think :D im smasing cars in the city. If u dont hold the handlebar strong and ur in good position u fall off instantly(never happened but i can imagine it easily w someone never ridden any before)
Thanks for this review. I was debating between the boosted rev and the widewheel and completely agree. The booster rev's build quality really spoke to me, the reason I decided against is was the lack of suspension. They really dropped the ball on that one. I just saw a new Lime scooter and even those are getting suspension. Non-suspension scooters will be a thing of the past soon. I love the design of the WideWheel plus the suspension looked more than capable. The one thing I didn't like about that one was the lack of a speedometer and a way to change in-dept settings. Because of your review I found the Zero 10X, which is basically the Turbowheel. I realized that that's really what I want. No compromises anywhere, except for the fact that it's 77lbs. I live in an apt with an elevator though, so even though its a large drawback, it's not really for me. I can just walk it up to my apt. Proud to say, my Zero 10X is on it's way!
Thanks Micah for your reviews and comparison of different models of E-rides. They have been instrumental in helping those of us who can only afford "one" of something make the right choice. Your battery book should be on everyone's desk, even if you have no intention of building a battery as it give valuable insight as to what makes up a battery and how to care for it. Looking forward to your next post.
Chris Chen I’m thinking why close it up and if you need to go to your apartment just walk next to it and give it very little throttle and then close it down
One thing to mention about scooters since I noticed it at a glance is the theft protection when not in use. I see two had keys and the boosted had nothing so that could be a definite buy or sell point for someone.
Great review/comparison. I would be a bit nervous about riding a scooter at 40 mph too. Wow, that’s fast!! I also would’ve appreciated a scorecard at the end.
Excellent reviews and comparisons. Thank you for the terrific production values. One small suggestion: could you put the results in a table and display it for a few seconds? That'll help your viewers decide on which would be right for them, based on their own criteria. Thanks again. Top notch.
Thanks for the review, this thru view. Made me look? Into. The lightning versus the rev and wide whexclamation point and I couldn't be more happy!! This thing is an absolute beast that will take me anywhere, But it's also very comfortable In low speed situations which is perfect!
Nice review. My favorite part was you comment on $300 vs $1,500 scooters. The same crazy comments are on Reddit. The fact is on all products, you get what you pay for. I am on my 3 electric scooter in 6 months. Each time I give my past scooters to one of my family members. New scooters are always higher priced. Kind of like buying an RV. We should always buy your last RV first. Thanks again.
I can see 40 being useful on the wide open road without a lot of traffic, just to get you from point A to point B faster. But at those speeds especially the rider should probably wear full on motorcycle level protective gear.
Great review! You really covered all of the important aspects of these scooters so that I can make a decision on a scooter. Your review helped me decide on going with the TurboWheel Lightning, that thing is a beast!
Great comparison. I just bought one of those disposable scooters. (Quest Jetson) It's ok but I think the WideWheel looks like a great scooter for 1200 bucks.
We want the turbo lightning but you know when something goes wrong with a scooter the boosted is the one you want cause they're a brand name and parts are available
Can I fold the handle bars down and roll the scooter on one wheel if necessary or do the tires stay locked when turned off? I have to walk the scooter through an office building about 200 ft to an elevator so if I have to pick up and carry a 70 lbs scooter that rules out the lightning.
Turbowheel Lighting and Zero 10X are the exact same product. I have my 10X on the way from REV RIDES to join my Kaabo Wolf Warrior and Zero 9. Can’t wait!
What would you say would be the best scooter to buy for a commute from the train station to work (corporate office)? It’s a 2.8 mile commute, and I weight about 270. I’m new to scooters, and I’m hoping you can help.
Great review - thorough and eclectic (not electric!) Some charts might help - visually summarising key point , like rand, battery power and price. Thanks.
I would want to buy one of these scooters in the near future but I'm worried about the scooter breaking. What if the battery goes bad and are they built to be water proof? The batteries are expensive too. Is there a way to properly maintain the battery so it last a long time?
Product support, build quality, repairability, longevity... I'll stick with boosted... a solid company. Boosted cares about their reputation and that's worth the extra $ Great review. Thanks.
I agree with you about quality and reputation but for me the speed is all that talks, I would go with the lighting 40mph, boosted Rev is rated at 24mph
Ah man. I cancelled my widewheel preorder and preordered the boosted rev instead. Widewheel doesn’t seem ready yet due to certain issues and lack of certain features. Boosted rev doesnt have suspension but the build quality sold me.
Chillin' - I cancelled my widewheel after watching all the videos and reviews i can find on it. The handlebar isnt as solid and the build quality made me change my mind. Suspension doesnt matter to me as much as i dont have bumps or potholes here. Even the boosted rev is giving me second thoughts due to the throttle system they use which seems like it will be difficult to control at low speeds.
Chillin' - Another thing that changed my mind about widewheel was the reviews on their website. The latest reviews on the new batch are not that great. There are customers with issues regarding build quality.
I average 7-9 mph on my m365 around downtown and i ride on sidewalk. going full speed at 15mph is dangerous, if I fell I would break my neck or teeth. Plenty of power. I could ride on the street next to regular downtown traffic just fine on m365.
Thanks for your video, I am still not sure which one to get it. Love all three for different reasons. Living in NYC and riding a Xiaomi which I hate by the way, especially after putting tubeless tires on it. It became even slower, heavier and harder. Potholes hurt. Going uphill, forget it about it. I am not a scooter guy and instead of a road cyclist guy who commutes and run heavy mileage on road bike as a sport but the Xiaomi was a way for the wife to allow me into this market and for going around from time to time without a need of gear etc. It was ok for 3 months and I was kind enjoying until I had my first flat tire. Don't get me wrong I can change my road or an MTB tire tube in less than 5 minutes, no problem and no dirty hands, but the Xiaomi was a pain. After replacing, I had another flat after one week and another one after 2 weeks. Pretty fed up, I've decided to go tubeless and the first tube was impossible to fit and destroyed my hands. I got a different one and still could do it so I sent to a bike shop and spent $90 to replace the tires. Now the stupid stuff is slower, harder and heavier and I take no pleasure of riding it. I love the boosted and think is the best cost vs benefits in NYC but the suspension worries me as the pothole situation can be unbearable and the Turbowheel Lightning suspension makes me really jump on the board as you did. I love the power but feel that I would soon crash in NYC. Cycling at 22-25 MPH in the city I face at least 10-12 near misses during my rides, most unaware pedestrians or tourists on their phones.WideWheel looks cool but somehow it feels like the Xiaomi and poorly finished in some places, especially the handlebar area looks naked/unfinished. Knowing Boosted and how good of a creative company they are and since this is their first scooter, I think the next version will likely have a good suspension system for all the reasons you've mentioned in this video.
Thank you. Just what I was hoping for. A review of the top dual motor scooters. Would be great if you had a summary slide at the end to tie the whole video together.
Great review, thank you! At those price points I still prefer my own scooter that does 60mph, with a range of 80m, full suspension, and enough power to do a wheelie at 40mph.
Hey, I love your videos man, keep up the great work, I needed some advice. Im getting an e scooter with a $1000 budget. what do u advise, Im looking for something fast and will last a long time.
Nice review and good work 👏👏👏, but I think that Turbowheel is an “upperclass”, so can you make a comparison only with Widewheel and Boosted Rev please ???
I'm getting the boosted rev. I had a 70 pound scooter before not nice carrying it around. Now the boosted rev you could get a protection plan with it. Even thou I don't think you'll need it
Hey, I’ve been a fan of your channel for a while now and am pleased to say I’ve learnt a lot from you. I know 2 wheeled transport is your passion but just wondered if you think a tricycle would be a interesting project or even something you would ever be willing to take on. I think due to the shape and design I’d imagine you could possibly find a way of adding a much larger battery pack which if balanced right to overcome the extra weight could allow you to maybe get a much greater range along with a more comfortable relaxed on road ride.
I'm interested in your thoughts on the different throttle methods between these scooters. I've only used the thumb throttle similar to the one on the wide wheel and is wary of the comfort level of the finger throttle and scroll throttle of the other two scooters.
cool video Ebike shcool.com the mantis pro or the turbowheel lighting im trying to pick one i like both have you tested the mantis pro. i weight about 230 lbs thanks
Living on an island teaming with native wildlife, the idea that the Turbo wheel lightning can run over a cat without causing me any discomfort has got me sold on it right away! What a brilliant feature! Ha! Ha!
Know what, Micah? I'm stoked I came across your vids. I've been trailing along on an EcoSmart for a few years now. I'm epileptic and have DL issues here in FL because of the disease. I love the stability of my EcoSmart with its 12" wheels. Ever ridden one? It's slow as Santa the day after Xmas, but comfy, even w/o suspension. I'm this close to ordering a TurboWheel Lightning. I've been thru 3 batteries and literally 1000s of miles on the EcoSmart. But 4-6 miles per charge at ~17mph is disheartening. The research on upgrading the EcoSmart leaves a bill of about $1200....worth it or time to advance to more modern tech? I like the big wheels and a basket...but I like fast and fun too. Opinions? Awesome job bro...much respect.
Consider building a lithium ion battery pack for your eco smart. I built a 14ah battery for a local scooter shop. The customer claims he rode it for 3+ hours.
Seems like the rev is right in the middle “sweet spot “of both the other scooters, not too hot and not too cold, just right! Thanks for the review, good work!
I feel like the wide wheel is the perfect middle because it has good range and performance as well as good portability.. and dont forget it's the only one that actually seems affordable
I just ordered a Mercane Electric Scooter | WideWheel | Dual Motor 13.2A man I can't wait to rock the street on a just Scedule,I literally stonished by the powers of each of these scooters, for me it's a dream come true,I never thought I'd see this day,by the way wonderful ideas from you amazing.thnx also I will be shooting a RUclips video when it arrives.so follow-up on my channels in the next 10 days .
Battery on boosted doesn’t charge all the way so it’s regen braking doesn’t stop working if you start out going down hill. Same reason for it’s skateboard (and other brands).
I agree with everything except that i love the high deck on the TWL. Its almost like you've got a lift kit. I used to link 4 or 5 12v SLA's in series on the e300 and we'd have to build the deck up with wood to ride it. Fun times. Whats the most jerry rigged dangerously fun frankenstein electric scooter you've ever built? I should have some photos of what we did back in the day somewhere.
The lightning is by far the best value although 40mph is too fast imo, great review and interesting that boosted have finally realised people prefer scooters over skateboards.
I'd love to have one of these beasts, but the allowed scooter speed in my country is 20km/h which makes me hesitate to invest so much into something that is technically illegal :-/
Great review on the scooters! Is there a safety disconnect on the throttle, simular to what is on an outboard motor in case you get separated from your machine?
No, but the throttles spring back to closed position so it shouldn't really need a deadman switch. Even so, the best practice is to stay on the machine while moving, at all costs. If you get separated, you're on your own!
Nice video, I got marcane pro , it’s great, but it’s a kinda heavy, and xiomi 365 , a light weight, I would love to go for more powerful scooter, but the more power the more weight,
bonjour et merci pour tes videos , la turbowheel c'est la meme que la x10 , g1 kugoo ou la kugoo g-booster ou encore la meme que la dualspeed 10 ou encore la E4-8 non ? merci pour tes retours :)
Hi There. Your videos/channel is awesome. The detail and explanation is great. Just in regards to this video, are you able to do a video on the battery pack of the Mercane Wide Wheel? Explaining voltage, construction, cell type and Ah etc. Thank you.
@@micaht725 Awesome!! I'm trying to decide whether to purchase a fast scooter, create my own Super Fast E-Bike, or E-Motorcycle. I'm traveling 2.5 miles to work and would like to reach speeds of 35-45 mph, while dealing with risky traffic. What do you think would be the best mode of transportation? In the end, I'd like to own all 3. Also, is it worth waiting until Black Friday times to purchase items like the Turbo Wheel Lightening? I just purchased your book on Lithium Batteries and am excited to build my own EBike!!
Thanks for the great variety of videos and electric themes that it deals with, all are very interesting. I bought your book "DIY Lithium Batetteries" is very easy to follow and really interesting to follow the construction of batteries. Thanks and I follow you on Instagram and RUclips
How is the throttle response? Ive ordered the dual motor, and hearing kinda negative stuff about the throttle. I am used to the m365 throttle so hoping it’s similar or better.
Hi Micah I have a son in college who's killing me with scooter rental fees. It looked at the zero 9 but it's not going to be available until November. On the less expensive, I've looked at the Levy with an extra battery $660 shipped. I've looked at the Wide wheel at $1030 shipped. I've also looked at the E move Cruiser $1300. Honestly with three other kids the Levy is in a better price range but I don't want to regret not spending $350 more for the wide wheel or waiting until November for the Zero 9 which is $930. What would Micah do?
Charles Abbott Hey, I’m a college student myself and my advice would be to buy the Turbowheel Dart. It’s basically a Zero 9 with a few upgrades like a better battery (made by LG). The supplier based in the US has stock that can be delivered to you in 1-5 days (That means you don’t have to wait until November or whatever). They also provide a year long warranty. The only drawback is the $998 price tag. I just got mine a few days back and I love it. You can order it online at ewheels.com - Hope this helps :)
@@thelifeofjosh91 Thank you VERY much for the reply. I LITERALLY just pulled the trigger on the 2020 Mercane Wide Wheel (dual motor with 48v 634 wh battery) I guess that means higher capacity?. I wished I would have seen this six hours ago. Well I purchased directly from the manufacturer so it as $816 shipped. I only wish it has more lighting. Any suggestions on that front?

Yeah, that’s not safe on a scooter that offers no protection if it crashes.

I think durability is the top thing I look at for most purchases, So I like the Rev.
Did he just say you can run over a cat without noticing? Lol.
Mr Garda
With enough hipster beer in your belly, that's possible while riding anything. 😁
No mean he can jump over a cat while driving it
He means you can go over a bump at high speed and the suspension will absorb it.
Wouldn’t that fur ball be charmin soft to run over anyways?
almost triggered huh?

At those price points I still prefer my own scooter that does 60mph, with a range of 80m, full suspension, and enough power to do a wheelie at 40mph.
Jeez that sounds nuts! Ride safe!
@@EbikeSchool he is safe because only in his mind does it go that fast.
Hey, I love your videos man, keep up the great work, I needed some advice.
Im getting an e scooter with a $1000 budget. what do u advise, Im looking for something fast and will last a long time.
Best comparison of scooters ever
Nice review and good work 👏👏👏, but I think that Turbowheel is an “upperclass”, so can you make a comparison only with Widewheel and Boosted Rev please ???
I'm getting the boosted rev. I had a 70 pound scooter before not nice carrying it around. Now the boosted rev you could get a protection plan with it. Even thou I don't think you'll need it
Would you prefer these compared to any ebike ?
Hey, I’ve been a fan of your channel for a while now and am pleased to say I’ve learnt a lot from you.
I know 2 wheeled transport is your passion but just wondered if you think a tricycle would be a interesting project or even something you would ever be willing to take on. I think due to the shape and design I’d imagine you could possibly find a way of adding a much larger battery pack which if balanced right to overcome the extra weight could allow you to maybe get a much greater range along with a more comfortable relaxed on road ride.
You should try the dualtron series of scooters by minimotors. They are priced higher but you would not regret it :)
Thanks for a great overview of the 3 scooters!
I'm interested in your thoughts on the different throttle methods between these scooters. I've only used the thumb throttle similar to the one on the wide wheel and is wary of the comfort level of the finger throttle and scroll throttle of the other two scooters.
Good to see various electric scooter options proliferating. Choice is good!
cool video Ebike shcool.com the mantis pro or the turbowheel lighting im trying to pick one i like both have you tested the mantis pro. i weight about 230 lbs thanks
*The zero 10x design is the ultimate all round scooter for me,speed,off-road capabilities and range*
Thanks for the video. Great info for someone considering to buy one of these scooters! I think the Mercane fits my needs best.Thumbs up!
Which of the scooters has the best water resistance for riding in the rain, puddles and going through streams?
One more good video, but I will stick with my ebike. I like your reviews on Electrek, keep up the good work!!!
Thanks Henry, I appreciate the feedback! Happy riding :-)
Seems like the rev is right in the middle “sweet spot “of both the other scooters, not too hot and not too cold, just right! Thanks for the review, good work!
Almost make one of these go on my list of want to have? The main problem is between one's top speed/range and one has dual suspension.
Love my turbo wheels lightning plus !
I wonder how would you compare NanRobot d5 to Turbowheel. My d5 specs are comparable but was only $1300.
Beautiful, short , precise! That’s like a “TM”!💪
Good morning I wanted to know the mercane wide wheel 2020 dual motor scooter or the kugoo m4 is better
Nice video, I got marcane pro , it’s great, but it’s a kinda heavy, and xiomi 365 , a light weight, I would love to go for more powerful scooter, but the more power the more weight,
Nice video. Appreciate the details provided on each scooter.
The TWL is a Zero 10x right? The 10x beats them both imo, the suspension power and battery alone, the design as well, with the lights underneath.
No way does it win.
Are these scooters easy to drive slowly for walking my dog or on crowded sidewalks?
Great video review! How about including info on manufacturers and aftermarket support in your reviews?
bonjour et merci pour tes videos , la turbowheel c'est la meme que la x10 , g1 kugoo ou la kugoo g-booster ou encore la meme que la dualspeed 10 ou encore la E4-8 non ? merci pour tes retours :)
Hi There. Your videos/channel is awesome. The detail and explanation is great. Just in regards to this video, are you able to do a video on the battery pack of the Mercane Wide Wheel? Explaining voltage, construction, cell type and Ah etc. Thank you.
Thank you very muchoh, I haven't got a scooter yet but I am looking and I think that cleared it up for me. For me I think it's the lightning.
Do you think the Turbo Wheel Lightening would fair okay on dirt roads for a weekend? Also, is it worth a 220lb 6'3" person riding this?
Oh yea, it would do great on dirt. And it could carry your 220 lb self without breaking a sweat.
Thx! Great comparison...
I hope you do more of these : like maybe one for single motor rigs, and one for budget category/entry level scooters.
3:29 Just use a Voltmeter to check voltage..
Thanks for the great variety of videos and electric themes that it deals with, all are very interesting. I bought your book "DIY Lithium Batetteries" is very easy to follow and really interesting to follow the construction of batteries. Thanks and I follow you on Instagram and RUclips
Received my WideWheel almost a week ago and I'm loving it :)
How is the throttle response? Ive ordered the dual motor, and hearing kinda negative stuff about the throttle. I am used to the m365 throttle so hoping it’s similar or better.
79Sarwar Sadly, it’s still not nearly as smooth as it should be at start up and at low speed
How are the wheels holding up? Also are they replaceable?
R.Louis Concepts The wheels are holding up fine so far. Yes, the wheels are replaceable at this time
Is it more feasible if traveling longer distances on commutes to go with an E-bike rather than a scooter?
Your review is on point...Your books also look interesting....nyc commuter with a Swagtron swagger 5 and I need better thanks
Great comparisons. Are aftermarket pneumatic tires available for the wide wheel
Hi Micah
I have a son in college who's killing me with scooter rental fees.
Any suggestions on that front?
just as i was comparing the wide wheel and the lightening i find your video. simply put... thank you 👍🏽 great vid
I have no problem shelling out the 💵 for the Boosted Rev but I’m still undecided as to which one to buy. I have about 4 motorcycles so I won’t be commuting on the scooter but I want something durable that will last
5:13 That happened to me the other day !! 🤦🏻♂️😂
