You’ve hit the nail on the head! I wish more people talked about the change in instrumentation that happens with each rendition, because that tells a story in and of itself. The first version used more edm/synth instruments to invoke the nature of the Titans, but still paired with classic rock to invoke the humans fighting back. Two entities fighting each other. The second version still has these elements, but adds in more orchestral themes and instruments (along with an emphasis on a solo string) to signify a great turning of the tides, but also a level playing field. Then this third version. There’s a solo string that’s ominous and sinister; purposefully “out of place” and disorienting as it carriers through the piece (I like to think the solo string from S3 and S4 represents Eren and his role. The same effect occurs in AOTF-s1 and in the S4 0sk rendition, during Grisha’s confrontation with Frieda). Can’t believe it has almost been a decade since I first heard the original song, and here I am still listening to (the remix of) this masterpiece. Thank you for an amazing decade, Sawano-san
I ADORE how this song gets more discordant and chaotic every time Hiroyuki Sawano revisits it, like an exact parallel to the story and how it's devolving into pure apocalyptic chaos incarnate. The ultimate culmination of Attack on Titan's musical DNA has arrived at this moment. There's nothing else to say except the AOT soundtrack (and AOT itself) will go down as one of the best pieces of art I've ever had the privilege of listening to and watching evolve over the years. Masterful. This is a composer who knows his craft down to the bone, he knows what his job is to portray and he didn't miss a single goddamn beat. Hiroyuki Sawano is a true legend.
Feel like I should add: if you're thinking about dropping a reply like "not after that ending" please don't. If you hate the ending, cool. That's your opinion. I'm sharing my excitement for the anime and manga which I personally love, and I don't need to hear about how much you hate the ending with no purpose except complaining. Listening to this next to the original version of the Attack Titan theme shows just how much had changed about Eren and the series. What was once combative and heroic is now horrific and devastating. The eerie strings replace electronic percussion and synth. What was a song of hope and courage through fear, is now a theme of fear itself before cataclysmic apocalyptic devastation. Masterful storytelling through music.
@@Skylingale regardless of whether he was right or wrong to do it the remix does seem to have shifted the music towards that sort of feeling. doesn’t matter which fictional drawings you decide to side with, this theme is playing over an imminent genocide so it’s not unfair to think it’s meant to be horrific 💀

"The earth is blushing and roaring. People will remember this tragedy" I wish they included those lines from the original. Blushing is a reference to the enormous bloodshed and roaring is a reference to the pending footsteps of doom approaching the rest of the world. AOT is just the GOAT of anime. Music is S tier, and the plot is SSS+ tier.
The scene wouldn't have been the same with this track. When the camera pans up and shows the founding Titan, with the track playing, I just felt pure dread.

@@Kalypsoo Well he could have stopped at Marley but then the entire Rumbling would've been pointless so there's that I guess
@@furiousdestroyah9999 Marley was the only one who attacked them, the rest of the world wanted to stay neutral and not take part. Destroying Marley with the rumbling would have been an enough warning to get peace for Paradise for a long time. But destroying the world ? Even Eren knew he was killing millions of innocent people and that he was doing something horribly wrong and bad, and if you read the manga, you know the reason why Eren did that is the worst reason possible and the most childish one, so he really has no excuse. If you're anime only, then I won't spoil his motivation

3:11-3:22 oh my god the scene and music hits right deep in the soul 💀
ONG BRUH 💀💀💀💀💀😭😭😭😭😭
The chorus and the strings going like ↑↓↑↓ is the best
While everyone will be talking about the main drop, 2:26 oh my god this part blew me away. The way sawano creates tension in the track..
It sounds like a horror game theme lol
But isnt it horror to get stomped by a giant slab o' meat while sleeping?
And those Violin are deadly.
It’s like the suspense of the Marley soldiers waiting for the titans to rise out of the water
3:37 ここからの映像と音楽めちゃくちゃ合ってて好き
It is fitting considering the chaotic cataclysm that is the Rumbling.
You can keep it to yourself and continue on with your day if you hate it
I've seen the same copy paste "not after that ending" type statements so many times now that at this point, I have literally 0 interest in debating over it. I would rather celebrate all the good that Attack on Titan brings
@@irecordwithaphone1856 it's gotta be better than GOT or Rise of Skywalker - I more or less know by spoilers and logic and am still looking forward to it. If I had to guess I bet it is more accepted in Japan but not in the US. Anyway good analysis of the soundtrack.
@@decafjava8565 Don't wanna get into the ending discussion too hard but I will say it's not even comparable to the clusterfuck of game of thrones' ending or RoS. Also thanks, I love the OST for this show dearly

Eren is in the right tho. So your comment about the new music being 'horrific' is kinda bullshit.
@@Skylingale Found the genocide denier
@@Skylingale regardless of whether he was right or wrong to do it the remix does seem to have shifted the music towards that sort of feeling. doesn’t matter which fictional drawings you decide to side with, this theme is playing over an imminent genocide so it’s not unfair to think it’s meant to be horrific 💀

3:10 the boy that wanted freedom, what an anime, what a story
"The earth is blushing and roaring. People will remember this tragedy" I wish they included those lines from the original. Blushing is a reference to the enormous bloodshed and roaring is a reference to the pending footsteps of doom approaching the rest of the world. AOT is just the GOAT of anime.
