I remember Donald Driver saying ”I talked to the receivers before the game and told them 'Anything he throws, we catch". They gave it their all for Favre this game!
When I was 14 my mom surprised me with tickets to this game as an early Christmas present for my first Packers game. I remember the Oakland fans all being very supportive, and it was as if we were witnessing magic on the field.
I'm a Vikings fan, but this was the one game where i made an exception to cheer for the Pack. I remember it seemed like everything was working for them this game. Thanks for the breakdown!
Statistically Favre’s best game ever. Also - keep an eye out for No. 24 on the Raiders defense. Charles Woodson. At this point already a 3 Time All-Pro, who would later join the Green Bay Packers and eventually be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
This game has so many moments that give all the feels when seen in context with what was going on in his life at the time. Incredible performance by Favre & the Packers pass catchers.
A really obscure game suggestion... week 2 of the 2001 XFL season, Tommy Maddox went 38 of 65 with 400+ yards and 4 TD's. It would be a wild look at the XFL and how underneath the 18+ presentation, it was genuinely good football. You'd probably have to call Tommy directly for the All-11 film but I have a gut feeling he has it.
The NFL is so obsessed with the next guy up and the future, new fans like me have very little to no understanding of HOW the greats were great. Everyone just says they were great and thats it. More content like this please!
Loved this break down. Especially hearing your epilogue. As a Favre fan we love the gunslinger moniker but hearing that he went out there and gave it 100 for practice and walk through just endeared him to me that much more.
I distinctly remember watching this game as a teenager in my parents basement on a small TV. I have yet to see a better performance given all the circumstances.
DUDE!!!!!!! You’re doing a throwback game!!!! This is just awesome. I haven’t watched this yet but I can’t wait. I loved watching Favre play back then so I’m very excited to rewatch with your commentary. Who’s next? Montana? Elway? Manning?
What I remember about this game as a Packer fan is it was legitimately magic from start to finish. We all knew immediately we were watching something special and he just kept going and going and going. Perfect throw after perfect throw
Great work, as always JT. I'm an almost 40 year old Packer fan. This means a lot to a person like me. A throwback series would be so cool. Happy holidays.
Thank you for this, definitely a Christmas gift! I've been a Packers fan since I was born, and this is my all time favorite game. As a young fan watching this, I was floored with how the team rallied behind Brett and it showed me that football really is more than a sport at times. Nostalgia overload!!!
My favorite QB since seeing him play in person as a 17 year old freshman at Southern Miss. His ruggedness was as legendary in college as it was in the NFL.
This was a lot of fun. I was never super into football growing up, so there were a lot of amazing players I watched growing up and never knew what I was seeing or who they were. I was a casual GB fan and very young, so I don't remember a ton of Brett. I would love to see more throw back games like this
Favorite Game of all time. John Madden was in the Booth calling it when they announced Farve. Like I miss old School Oakland, even when they were shit, you knew they hated you. That game, when they announced Farve. It was just standing ovations. No hate, no Oakland Fuck Yous. Just love, love for seeing a Kid that just lost his dad leave it on the field.
This game still after all these years chokes me up. Especially when I think of how the Raider fans were All pulling for Brett to have the game of his life!
I haven't watched the entire history of the NFL, but when it comes to pure arm talent, it's Elway and Favre at the top of the list for me. Rodgers, Allen, Mahomes, and Marino had great talent in different ways, but nobody had the ball come flying out of their hands like Elway and Favre.
This was the game that made me a Packers fan. 9 years old watching this 'Gunslinger' light up the defense, all the while my uncle is crumbling because he bet the farm on a Raiders win lol.
Rodgers era was great , but nothing can compare to GB when that initial artery of coaches came with Holmgren from SF /Walsh staff, coupled with Ron Wolf as GM made for a decade of some of the best football ever. When Mike left for Seattle it seemed noone could hold Brett accountable. Whos gonna do it Mike Sherman??? Hes the bad coaching you have to overcome. All the work that went into harnessing the gun slinger was out the window. Went from 3x mvp to interception king. None the less for many in wisco, this game was the first and only day they ever shed a tear.
This is sick! Could we plz get some throwback Big Ben breakdowns? Super Bowl 43 maybe? 6 td game vs colts? Or any game you remember/have all 22 of prime Big Ben Would be awesome, thanks
Fun fact about this game, Tee Martin would make an appearance at QB for the Raiders, his 1st completed pass, was to Jerry Rice. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, and have a happy New Year!
3:39 Wesley Walls - In his final season. He left the Panthers as their best TE, and is second best in Panthers history behind Greg Olsen. He was a baller for the Saints as well. He is, to my understanding, one of the early salary cap casualties the 49ers had to make, as he joined the Saints in the first year of said salary cap in 1994.
Man Javon really was that dude. I wish things worked out better for him. He is one of my biggest “what ifs”. He really wasn’t the same post ACL injury. He was a 1st rounder for a reason, dude had it all. Size, speed, hands, jumping ability! He could have been an all-timer
This was an amazing game. I’ll never forget it. Football was so much more fun to watch back then. Modern nfl isn’t the same and can’t really put my finger on why. Thoughts?
I enjoyed your last few minutes at the end. He was my biggest idol. Now, it isn't easy to accept him as a person. But your experience takes me back to that time. I just hope he figures his shit out, man.
Favre is a scumbag off the field. He terrorized my 9ers for years on it. Only now, after all these years, can I watch and appreciate him. Only because JT is behind the wheel.
Favre was such a great QB, at times it seemed like he could do whatever he wanted with the football. But the lack of playoff success after his first 5 seasons and now knowing what we do about how not great of guy he is, Really makes you wonder how much money he made throwing playoff games the entire second half of his career.
I was at this game with a bunch of Raiders fans (which I am not). Everyone there was stunned and after a while we all just expected the bombs to find their target. It was almost laughable. Even Raider Nation appreciated what was happening that night. Nevertheless, I hate Brett Favre.
We are fired up for throwback games
Yep - so many great games to choose from, and you can do it in off-season.
I want to know who started for the Bears that week....Hold on, give me a minute...Rex Grossman. Oh God, that's hilarious!
Another name for the never-ending debate: not great QB or a great QB that the Bears made not great.
I remember Donald Driver saying ”I talked to the receivers before the game and told them 'Anything he throws, we catch". They gave it their all for Favre this game!
I’ve never seen a squad rally around one guy and collectively step to the plate like I did that night. Man, that game was special.
💯
When I was 14 my mom surprised me with tickets to this game as an early Christmas present for my first Packers game. I remember the Oakland fans all being very supportive, and it was as if we were witnessing magic on the field.
This is a genius idea man. So many classic games that you can cover. Super psyched for this!
Also how about a Herbert video from the TNF Broncos game? Please? lol
Agree. Absolutely genius idea.
Throwbacks!! Yes!! I’ll never forget watching this game
I'm a Vikings fan, but this was the one game where i made an exception to cheer for the Pack. I remember it seemed like everything was working for them this game. Thanks for the breakdown!
I remember exactly where I was during this game. I was at a bar and after a while the entire bar was locked in watching Brett go crazy
This is the Christmas present I didn't know I needed
Statistically Favre’s best game ever.
Also - keep an eye out for No. 24 on the Raiders defense. Charles Woodson. At this point already a 3 Time All-Pro, who would later join the Green Bay Packers and eventually be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
And win DPOY and a superbowl with Gb. It’s where he cemented his HoF career
thanks for letting everyone know the most basic bit of nfl history
This game has so many moments that give all the feels when seen in context with what was going on in his life at the time. Incredible performance by Favre & the Packers pass catchers.
Wow a throwback game. Hope you do more of this 😃

Man, I couldn’t click on this fast enough. This is a childhood memory game for me. I’ll never forget how I felt watching this game.
This is one of my favorite videos in RUclips history. Thanks.
Doug Pederson said he went out and held for an extra point with tears running down his face
DUDE!!!!!!! You’re doing a throwback game!!!! This is just awesome. I haven’t watched this yet but I can’t wait. I loved watching Favre play back then so I’m very excited to rewatch with your commentary. Who’s next? Montana? Elway? Manning?

Great work, as always JT. I'm an almost 40 year old Packer fan. This means a lot to a person like me. A throwback series would be so cool. Happy holidays.
Now that the old school vault is open, we gotta get a JT O'Sullivan all-22 game
This is a tremendous idea, do more please!
I like the laughter throughout... that was an UNREAL game, and the laughter shows how crazy the throws were. Ultimate gunslinger #4
This is AWESOME!!!
I remember watching this game live. Loved it then and now.
Love the throwback. More simple game but really shows off the athleticism.
was at this game. Entire stadium knew right away that it was going to be a special night. Even Raider fans were cheering for him.
Throwback let's go. Really special perspective, special video here.
Thank you for this, definitely a Christmas gift! I've been a Packers fan since I was born, and this is my all time favorite game.
As a young fan watching this, I was floored with how the team rallied behind Brett and it showed me that football really is more than a sport at times.
Nostalgia overload!!!
As a Packer fan that was around for this era… this hits 🔥
More throwbacks please! Especially in the offseason, could produce some nice view numbers. Thanks JT
Watched this game with my old man. Magical performance and special memory.
Love the throwback! Remember watching this game. Brett was the reason I feel in love with football.
Funny and awesome you are doing this game, thanks! Also loved how you pointed out all those great names from the past.
I can still remember watching this game as an 8 year old. What an iconic game
I would love to see more throw back games like this
Love this. Do some of Brett's MVP years people think of him as the interception guy but he was the face of the league and a top 10 qb all time
I've been waiting for these throwback breakdowns. More of this!!
I love the sightings of those legends.
This is an awesome video! No one will ever be as exciting a player as Brett.
This was awesome. A true “I remember where I was when this game happened”
I remember my dad talking about how epic this game was for Brett
Favorite Game of all time.
John Madden was in the Booth calling it when they announced Farve.
Like I miss old School Oakland, even when they were shit, you knew they hated you.
That game, when they announced Farve. It was just standing ovations. No hate, no Oakland Fuck Yous. Just love, love for seeing a Kid that just lost his dad leave it on the field.
Bro I watch this live it was unforgettable.
Appreciate this one JT! Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much for this one JT. Genuinely a little emotional watching it! #GoPackGo
Thank you JT. I have great memories of this game and this video was really cool!! Thank you!! 💚💛
This was really entertaining. Thanks for doing Favre.
Nice retro feel with the low resolution cameras and large should pads.
This game still after all these years chokes me up. Especially when I think of how the Raider fans were All pulling for Brett to have the game of his life!
Beat Favre skit ever, the "Levi's No Fly"
I haven't watched the entire history of the NFL, but when it comes to pure arm talent, it's Elway and Favre at the top of the list for me. Rodgers, Allen, Mahomes, and Marino had great talent in different ways, but nobody had the ball come flying out of their hands like Elway and Favre.
Hopefully you make a lot more of these!
Any possibility you could do guys from the 80’s and 90’s like Marino and elway?
I really hope so.
all-22 from the 2000s? hell yes
Favorite NFL game I’ve ever watched(probably followed by his 2 games vs the Packers😂).
Seriously love the idea of the throwback games. I dig the nostalgia but also the ability to talk about how the game has changed (and not changed).
Halfway through and this is 🔥. We need more of these but i need a JD5 video big dog.
This was the game that made me a Packers fan. 9 years old watching this 'Gunslinger' light up the defense, all the while my uncle is crumbling because he bet the farm on a Raiders win lol.
This was amazing
I remember watching this game in Wisconsin visiting my Dad. It was a wild game to watch live.
None the less for many in wisco, this game was the first and only day they ever shed a tear.
Holgren's coaching staff in GB was no joke indeed. Steve Mariucci, Andy Reid, Jon Gruden just to name a few.
How bout a Peyton Manning game next? These throwback videos are pure genius! Love it. Let’s go
This is sick!
Could we plz get some throwback Big Ben breakdowns?
Super Bowl 43 maybe? 6 td game vs colts? Or any game you remember/have all 22 of prime Big Ben
Would be awesome, thanks
I am a life long Packers fan, I remember watching this game live with my dad when I was 13. I will never forget this game.
Fun fact about this game, Tee Martin would make an appearance at QB for the Raiders, his 1st completed pass, was to Jerry Rice.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas, and have a happy New Year!
Always loved your vids & as a packer fan, this game has a special place in my heart, thank you!
This game was broadcasted here in Brazil and I remember Just like It was today!
You had some deep cuts with those name drops. Haven't heard Nick Luchey's name in a hot minute
If youre not sure what the defense is doing, just remember this is the Raiders were talking about
I watched that game it was pretty wild for sure...
Donald Driver and Javon Walker are two of the most underappreciated receivers in the history of the game. Fricking studs.
That was Tim Brown's 13th and final season with the Raiders (went to Tampa for his final year 2004). Absolute legend.
I remember that game very well; and how many times he just chucked it up and his receivers bailed him out.
Man Javon really was that dude. I wish things worked out better for him. He is one of my biggest “what ifs”. He really wasn’t the same post ACL injury.
He was a 1st rounder for a reason, dude had it all. Size, speed, hands, jumping ability! He could have been an all-timer
This performance was lights out. Would love to see the Eagles-Redskins game when Mike Vick lit it up.
Hell Yes
Get Mike Wahl on the Pod dudes great on the mic and knows ball obviously
It really looks like a smaller slightly less athletic josh allen game film. Own set of rules
class ending JT, real class
Damn!!!!! This was awesome. Montana? Marino? If you can get the footage that would be killer. Especially Montana 😏
[You have a] Merry Christmas, huh? No John McClane references. I'm. Not. Hans.
Favre was extremely accurate and had a quick release, but he also had a really good offensive line
BOSS MAN WE NEED THAT NEW BRYCE YOUNG VIDEO
JT were you on the sideline for this game?!
"now again if they can track it they'd be playing offense" - lulz
It always amazes me how bad these old videos look; I don't recall the videos being that bad looking. I remember how emotional this game was.
I assume it's worsens based on the compression that RUclips introduces
RUclips compression makes it looks worse + all-22 cameras are vastly inferior to broadcast cameras
Favre is a scumbag off the field. He terrorized my 9ers for years on it. Only now, after all these years, can I watch and appreciate him. Only because JT is behind the wheel.
Go pack go!
Favre was such a great QB, at times it seemed like he could do whatever he wanted with the football.

Nevertheless, I hate Brett Favre.
I was super annoyed when the texans drafted javon walker off of the packers.
HAHA! Dude, knows who pays the bills - Packer's fans!
Just don't do any Brady games. You'll be terrifies how good he was
My pour raiders
