I've never seen this breed of sheep. I'm absolutely inspired! They are well taken care of.. Also congratulations to the Camera/Production team for the quality of the film.
That was a fabulous piece. I was dreading a slaughter scene, but only a birthing scene. €50,000 for a top breeding ewe is an extraordinary price, and Amar the top breeding male is not for sale-just yet. I had often heard about humans cohabiting with their livestock, and this showed how it is done today, and in some luxury. Sheep farmers in my country can only exist by having flocks of many thousands of sheep, this farmer does it with less than 100. The joys of being a farmer of fine breed stock.
I remember as a child in senegal we had one beautiful ladoum for eid al adha, i got so close to him by feeding him and help bathe him that i was so sad when he was sacrifice on eid 😢 💔 but i still ate the meat 😄
Interesting to see a meat breed (as opposed to a wool breed) of sheep being raised in a protected environment. I'm so used to seeing sheep & goats in fields being watched over by dogs and humans, or in barns during intense weather, but then this breed is highly sought after so of course they are kept in enclosures alot of the day! I was wondering about their temperament, they seem pretty mild, and not very noisy too. It's amazing what sheep can provide to people, and have done for thousands of years. Good story, Al Jazeera.
This is different sheep sénégal bread 150 kg to 180 kg in 18 months they grow fest than the regular sheep .the name is Ladoum made in sénégal beautiful sheep and bigger all of sheep and the wold number one.
I could have used some information about what they are valuable for. Is it meat? Probably, since they don’t look like big wool producers. If they also are good at raising their own young and able to hold their own against predators, that would be really good traits for meat sheep. They certainly don’t resemble any European breed of sheep that I know of, but definitely some African breeds, though they are larger and heavier than most African sheep. Anyway, I’m rambling, but I could have used some explanation of their worth.
it's for ritual sacrifice, the local elite competes on who has the best looking and biggest one to impress the neighbours. it's a luxury product for rich people and he found a way to make an impressive amount of money on that by not selling directly to them but to other breeders who breed sheep for that purpose multiplying further their value.
@@Maurazio Really?! How many animals are neccessary for ritual sacrifice? Pardon my scepticism, but that seems like a real luxury industry. I don’t see how the economies of those countries can support something like that.
indeed they are more luxury sheep than anything else. appreciate more their beauty than for their meat or other. personally I find them very beautiful but economically the impact is not very large
Those are luxury animals they clean them every day check out the tidiness of those stalls picture it like owning thoroughbred racehorse champions or owning a nice sport car the only annoying part are those flies but apart from keeping them out of the residential space with mosquito nets and spraying armful chemicals or deploying sticky fly paper traps there's not much he can do because if he doesn't keep an eye on it those useless thieves are going to steal his beloved sheeps that's why he rather keep them close so he always have an eye on it in case of emergency...
Sheep, I'm sure they came from the UK... So yet again another story about how African countries are still using and benefiting from the British empire..... I thought the British empire was bad.... But they are still benefitting from it 😂😂😂
The British empire and the European Union are living off the the blood sweat and tears of African people for over 500 hundred years. Just so you know without the natural resources of Africa and the slave trade , the British empire, EUROPEAN Union, and the United States would be third world countries.
These sheep definitely did not come from the UK. This breed is the result of cross breeding many west African breeds and that process took place in Senegal. Give credit where it’s due and do your research!
The cleanest and sustainable livestock's farm I have ever seen on the media a must visit for me
Because .... Africa is not what the school books shows or what media portrays on T.V 👀 The WORLD is Bigg

Because it’s not really a farm it’s more like a kennel breeding studs and you see the price of them they are for the rich.
