Set up is so important, I use mostly hybrids in my game and it has made me much more consistent, so to be honest I have replaced most of my Long irons with hybrids, taken away 6,7,8 iron's, what's in my bag, obviously a driver, 3 wood, 5 baffler, 6, 8 hybrids, 9 iron and PW, SW and chipper just in case I would say that's due to inconsistency or belief in my own shot ability. To be honest I am now more consistent now that I have replaced my Long irons. Again great video Chris
I bought a hybrid a few years ago as I struggled to hit driver but was never able to master the hybrid. In the meantime my driver improved so it's been sat in the bag untouched and even lent to a friend for a time. I've gone back to it as I need a club for approx. 200 yards and watched your video this morning with a view to practicing hybrid. Your video tuition was excellent and taking on board your 3 points I hit my hybrid surprisingly well I'm now and looking forward to using it next time on course. Ball flight and distance were incredibly pleasing. Tee drill worked well and I applied these points to my 3-wood which I've struggled with too. Thank you so much for the video, it is invaluable.
I am new to golfing and I need to have everything simply explained to me. This video is exactly what I needed. It tells me where the ball should be in my stance and how to strike the ball. These points may sound simple to the experienced golfer but mean all the world to me to eliminate frustration on the course.
I just bought a hybrid 2 days ago, used it yesterday with very mixed results (more bad than good). I've watched a few videos about hitting them but yours seems to be the most straight forward. I plan on heading out to the driving range soon to get better acquainted with my (hopefully) new best friend. Thank you very much.
One thing that really helped my hybrid inconsistency was matching my plane with the club lie. I found I was too shallow and that being more upright and steeper seemed to help. Could you someday do a video on swing plane to lie relationship? It seems logical that the sole of a well-fitted club would sit flat on the ground, with no toe up or toe down but you don't see this subject discussed. Thanks Chris.
I watched this video this morning and played this afternoon. I immediately corrected the ball position for my hybrid and hit some great second shots. Chris explains things very well, great detail.
Biggest thing that have worked for me as I find hybrids to be difficult is slowing down my swing. It really doesn't take much to crush a shot with a hybrid. So I probably take off about 25% of my swing that I would normally use with a regular iron.
Watched this vid the other night on the exercise bike.Just got back from the range now where I really started crushing my recently purchases G410 19 and 26 degree hybrids. Couldnt believe the groove I got into hitting these clubs, even when placing the ball in old divots/pitch marks the ball flew out beautifully. Great vid, thanks!
Very easy to understand as Chris gets back to simple instructions . Going down to the Coomealla golf course to try and put it into practice. Thank you kind regards Brenda thomas
Chris, thanks for all the videos, they have really helped me understand the golf swing much better. You have a great understanding of not only what to teach but also how to communicate it in a very easy to understand way. Please keep up the good work and know that you are doing a very fine job of helping a lot of golfers
This video has helped me hit my hybrid like I'm supposed to - especially the part about placing a broken tee two or three inches in front of the ball and trying to make contact with both. Well done, Chris. Thank you.
With regards to hybrids I am in the process of purchasing one and was wondering what make you have found to be the eazliest to hit? please let me know. Glenn from Canada
Thanks Chris.. Every one making videos about hybrids are only focus on the 3-hybrid.. I'm getting older and find the #4,5 and 6 to be very useful.. I would like to see an in depth study on all of them, not just the #3.. Looking at ball flight, swing thoughts etc.. Thanks!
Good video. I struggle for any consistency with my hybrids and this video lays out three clear and easy things to keep in mind. Looking forward to trying them out.
Chris Ryan, to be clear on sternum position relative to the ball position then...your sternum or "button's on shirt" should be 3-4" BEHIND the golf ball ?
Hey Chris recent sub here. I just bought the Ping G410 19 degree replacing a 10 year old Clevland Launcher 19.I always struggled hitting it.I noticed the Ping is almost 2 inches shorter and has a much smaller head.I'm thinking I will be able to hit it better because it's shorter. Thanks for the tips.
Hi Chris, I heard you first said to focus 3-4 inches behind the ball, and then later said to focus 3-4 inches on the target side (front?) of the ball. Can you please clarify what you exactly meant? Thanks.
Chris good instruction. I can't hit a hybrid to save my life it goes low rolling on the ground 120 yards to the right and upset those on the other fairway.
Hi. I m new subscriber Thank you so much. You are very clear on your instructions. But I m a bit confused on where to concentrate. on address. With this one, As i think you said behind the ball then after the shot ...You said on the target side of the ball. Can you please clarify for me. Thank You again for great instructions ! Neil
Thanks for the advice, I'm new to the game and I have a real fear of using my Hybrids only because I'm I don't have confidence that i will hit a solid shot or what direction the ball will travel after i make contact. I will be working on the lessons you just provided so that i can build the confidence needed to Rip my Hybrids.
Stan is correct Chris......slo-mo from 'face-on' and from 'behind the ball' would be of great help in visualizing your instruction. Keep up the great work with your instructional videos....they help me a lot!
I grew up using hybrids [im young], and i seem to be able to hit them farther and more consistant than my fairway woods, it seems like its just a different thought process.
I use an 18 degree hybrid as a driving hybrid but I tend to hook it left. Without looking at my swing, what are some things I'm doing that could cause this. When I say hook I mean...HOOK lol. Thanks and again great video.
Path to much in to out relative to face - put head cover outside line of path to encourage less in to out. Second reason, hitting too much on toe. Third reason ball position too far forward. Good luck. Also search Chuck Cook Hook. Perhaps Chris can do some tips on hooking.
I'm aware that at impact my left wrist should be slightly bowed and my right wrist cocked back ....but should both wrists also be bent thumbs down (ulnar flexion) or simply straight ? ... .thx
You appear very entitled, Jim. You can unsubscribe yourself. These video instructions are free. imho, Chris Ryan’s instructions are one of the best out there, in clarity and demonstration.

This helped so much. Im at the range now and was struggling. The shoulder idea really hit home! Much love.
Thanks Don glad it helped 👍

Many thanks, Chris - came back to this video after playing a few shockers with my hybrid - helped a lot to identify why - cheers!
Very helpful teaching. Thanks. Heading to golf right now. Glad I watched this while loading up my bag.

Great tips Chris. Really struggling with my hybrid at the moment. Need to go back to basics. Thanks.
I'm a relatively recent subscriber and new-ish golf fanatic. Thanks very much for your very informative & effective tips! Looking forward to more.
Thanks for your comments and for subscribing, very much appreciated. Hope the videos help your game.
My favorite club in the bag, good lesson.

Very good straight-forward and simple instruction. Thank You!
Another great video Chris.
Great help, took it to the range. It was fun can’t wait to tee off.
Good video. Have felt hampered by hybrids....but no better feeling than when I hit one solid. Maybe now I can do it more often. Thanks Chris.
Just got new Hybrids, information very helpful. Thanks
First rule, I stop thinking about "ripping". Swing easy, make solid contact, and the club will do the work. Easiest club in the bag to hit well.
Use a 22 deg hybrid a lot, with mixed results so this video helps. Many thanks.
Thanks Joe
Thank you great video. I have lots of trouble with my hybrids and just use my iron. I will try this. Thanks.
Thanks Chris, I used this in an earlier video with fairway woods. Great tip 👍
Great video. I know from my lesson with Chris that these simple steps work.
Thanks Matt, hope you are well
I can hit all the irons pretty well, the driver also but I havent hit a hybrid shot at all yet. I will try it today with the tee.
Just bought a G400 17 deg,lovely performing club,find a lot easier to hit than a wood.
Perfect video. Still can use this video today in 2023
Very informative video. Thanks Chris.
You're the man Chris! Love the videos!
Very helpful Chris, I use TaylorMade as well. Can you tell me why when I hit my hybrid I get a severe draw. How can I correct this....thank you
Chris Ryan, to be clear on sternum position relative to the ball position then...your sternum or "button's on shirt" should be 3-4" BEHIND the golf ball ?
Great stuff, cheers, Chris.
Chris, I really enjoy your videos. It seems the easier I swing my hybrid4, the farther and straighter it goes. Any idea why?
Nicely explained, will have to try the tee drill. 👍🏻

Will try. Thanks for video.
Great video Chris this is the information I needed. I've been struggling with hitting my 19 degree hybrid for a while now.
Great tips. Are you gonna be at the London golf show this as I would love to get some tips off you
Hi Chris, I heard you first said to focus 3-4 inches behind the ball, and then later said to focus 3-4 inches on the target side (front?) of the ball. Can you please clarify what you exactly meant? Thanks.
..."focus 3 to 4 inches target side of the ball..." (you said this). Does this mean focus NOT on the ball when hitting it? Thanks...
yes ball just gets in the way
Chris good instruction. I can't hit a hybrid to save my life it goes low rolling on the ground 120 yards to the right and upset those on the other fairway.
this should help me loads! Thanks for the lesson.
+Mark Jackson thanks Mark hope it does
Thanks Chris

Chris love your video, can you please demonstrate how to hit a hybrid out of the rough, thanks.
you usually dont :D
very helpful thanks 🖒

4:19 - Full turn relating to proper rhythm... hmmm, perhaps a topic for further discussion/video?
Great! Just keep it simple!
Great tutorials but they could be even better if face on slo-mo and down the line slo- mo were added
Hi Stan, thanks for the feedback, will certainly try to add that element moving forwards
Stan is correct Chris......slo-mo from 'face-on' and from 'behind the ball' would be of great help in visualizing your instruction. Keep up the great work with your instructional videos....they help me a lot!

can hit low irons for fun, keep topping hybrid!! Help.
bob j tee it up a quarter inch and make sure your wrist is firm until impact.
Chris did you say to try an focus target side of the ball or behind the ball?
Would be good to put some focus target side of the ball to help with a slight downward hit
He did say behind the ball, but I think meant target side.

Ok thanks for the reply brother. Will definitely give those a try.
I'm aware that at impact my left wrist should be slightly bowed and my right wrist cocked back ....but should both wrists also be bent thumbs down (ulnar flexion) or simply straight ? ... .thx
FairwayJack you should change your name to heavy rough because your all over all golf vids
Chris, your comment about that snap back made me laugh for a while, lol
Which golf manufacturer is that fitting centre / driving range sponsored by? I can’t quite tell in the video
Would this differ much from 3 wood?
Not too much, would be slight differences in set up but many elements would be similar yes
👏🏻👏🏻
Keep hooking my M2 Hybrid, very frustrating.
just the ticket
Get on with the 3 key things
Everyone says hitting a hybrid club is easier than a long iron...I find the exact opposite to be true.
I can’t rip anything but my pants. It’s hard as hell
Pretty much contradicts what other "experts" teach.
That's obviously a nine iron you were using there, where is your hybtid
fatlittleparasite I have three hybrids and I know that's a hybrid.
A 9 iron definitely doesn't have that big (wide) of a clubhead.
PLEASE STOP talking in the third person! It’s sooooooo annoying. ‘what WE see’ ‘what WE want’ ‘what WE need to do’ etc.
Why do these guys talk sooooo much damm can he even hit a ball
😂😂
Kind of weird that you are not looking in the camera when you are talking
Out of this helpful video, that was your biggest observation? C'mon, man.
I'm confused! In order to really see the ball position, you must have a face on camera view
This instruction video is ,sorry, rated a 2 out of 5!
jim swail haha, thanks Jim, I'll take a 2 out of 5 then!
Please unsubscribe me from all future videos.
