Bojan Babic I just figured I’d let you know a rule of baseball that should prevent hidden ball tricks. If the pitcher doesn’t have the ball, he can’t step onto the mound, if batters would just look to the pitcher, they could know when they are safe to step off the bag.

This really isn't what the sport is about. It's about hit the ball hard, run the bases. Throw the ball hard, run fast to catch the ball, decide where to throw the ball. Not trying to trick someone. It's not a game where trickery should be encouraged.
@@SeriouslyYavi Well we don't want the game to turn into a circus. I understand people's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter but that's no reason to start clowning up the game.
i love the hidden ball trick. exemplifies the best of baseball. we can't see it from the stands but we can see it from a replay tv close up. I love this game
What happened on the last one: the runner (Stassi) thought he was already out, he thought Andrus (the shortstop who was supposed to have caught that throw) actually caught in and tagged him, so he started to head for the dugout. He wasn't aware that the throw had gone off Andrus's glove and into Kinsler's glove, until he tagged him
5:08 wasn't the hidden ball trick that was just the runner being straight up sloppy and the baseman wasn't even planning anything but saw an opportunity
I'm a simple man. I don't watch Baseball nor do I know who Frazier is but I accidently click on a RUclips TikTik about this hidden ball trick, I am intrigued but then I click off it by reflex because it was an accident in the first place, and I search up "the hidden ball trick" only to find a compilation & thank goodness the clip I watched on the RUclips TikTik is the first clip of the compilation.
The ump sort of tips the runner off running to get closer to see the tag @ 5:09 great play. These tags, foot off the bag is a thing of beauty. I did it once in Little League caught the runner off like that.
I've seen most of these incidents before but I want to say thank you. I love the fact that you're showing more than just a 5 second clip. So much more informational.
Maybe there's a rule I don't know about. But when this happens on first or 3rd, where is the coach to tell them he didn't throw the ball back, don't move?
I love these. I did that once in Little League. The runner was on the bag and you just put the ball glove on him and people are fidgety, his foot came off the bag, called out. You do it in front of the ump.
None of these trick play videos has my favourite of all time: with a guy on second, the batter hits one over the wall. Larry Walker leaps up for the catch but can't make it and hangs his head in disgust. Runners trot around the bags. Only, Walker was acting! He has the ball, hitter is out, throws to second for the force. 2-run homer turns to DP!
If you are a baserunner and it is between pitches or batters, don't leave the bag until the pitcher is on the mound. Remember pitcher has to be off mound during the hidden ball trick.
I like how none of the runners get mad and just walk off after getting out. For all the unwritten rules and ways you can offend the other team, this isn’t one of them.
Announcers in the last clip are idiots. Clearly the runner thought he was out because the throw beat him and he wasn't looking, the ball hit the fielder's glove so it probably sounded like it was caught and he thought he was out so he started walking towards the dugout. Like he's not taking his lead for the next pitch or wandering off the base or anything, if he knew he was safe he obviously would've stayed on the bag, he's clearly walking dejectedly back to the dugout thinking he's out. How do you watch baseball for a living and you can't even recognize that lol.
@@SarahDigsHockey Umpire is obligated to make a ruling to inform the players. By Stassi's reaction, I think it's clear there was question as to whether he was safe or out.
@@nicholasquazzo5435 That's why you never see umpires signaling safe as a player runs the bases after hitting a home run. On a play like that, you rarely see the ump make a signal. Players need to pay attention.
@@SarahDigsHockey Yes but just like when there's question as to whether a home run was fair or foul, the umpire makes the call before a player runs the bases, not after. It's the ump's job to pay attention to the play. The player SHOULD but isn't obligated in the way the ump is.
Would it be legal if they had a mound visit and there is a runner on base and a positional player took the ball from the pitcher when the visits over and tags the runner?
No not really. You can have a mound vist and (You are on time) the a position player can take the ball when leaving the mound and off time the players just have to make sure of 2 things the umps know you have it and nobody calls time
SEA vs LAA: The runner was stealing and didn't see the ball get hit and where it went. The ball was caught in the outfield, but the infield players were acting like it was in the infield. The runner didn't tag up with first base after it was caught, therefore he's out.

late to the party but the reason there are 2 outs is because the first one comes from the fly ball getting caught by the outfielder so the batter is automatically out, and the second out comes from the hidden ball trick. we see the baserunner trying to steal the second base but he doesnt know where the ball went to so the basemen next to him are faking having the ball but in reality the ball was caught by the outfielder as i said previously. when a flyball is caught the runner must go back to his previous base and touch it before he gets forced out by a baseman stepping on the bag with the ball in hand. in our case thats what happened. the runner didnt return to the previous base not knowing the ball was caught but when he finally noticed it was too late because the ball was thrown to the first baseman, thus called out.
Why'd Stassi give up so fast? Even if he thought Andrus had the ball, he knew his foot wasn't on the bag so it wasn't a force play. Doesn't look like he tagged him either. Stassi just slid into second and then gave up, lol
