I always felt that Living With The Ghost was Jons statement on Richie leaving the band. Some of it seems to fit really well.
One that i think deserves more attention is Only Lonely. Very strong lyrics and i like how some of the lines run into each other. Cleverly done Jon.

I love your appreciation for Burning Bridges. It's my favourite album. I swear even the band forgets that it exists. I was 13 when the album came out and was actually starting to understand music on a deeper level. Blind Love got me through some classic teenage relationship feelings. Though Some Day I'll Be Saturday Night is one of my favourites lyrically, like " I wanna blow myself away, don't know if I can" have so much depth to them. It can be read in an optimistic or pessimistic light. You can view it as wanting to achieve a dream but not knowing if you're good enough or giving up. Then there's "I'm only 16, I feel 100 years old", I felt that one on a personal level during GCSE's. I could type about this for hours but I'll leave it there. 😂

@@Savemeattwight ooh I always forget about that one! Not necessarily my favourite song but lyrically? A masterpiece. I will definitely try to include it if I make a part two.
Burning bridges is SOOOO underrated, and I think it's partly as you say because the band abandoned it! Not to mention the silly cover is pretty unforgettable. But some of the songs on there are the best in Bon Jovi history

This list is perfect but here are some songs I would consider including for a part 2
    Hey god
    These days
    Lie to me
My guitar lies bleeding in my arms
    Wedding day
    Dry County
    Someday I’ll be Saturday night
    Living in sin
    Fingerprints
    Blind love
    Kiss the bride
    Last man standing
    Etc
I don’t like mixing Bon Jovi s work with Jon and Richies solo work but Santa Fe is just too good to leave out
Even songs like it’s my life and wanted dead or alive have amazing lyrics, also the these days album itself is a masterpiece especially lyrically so any of those song can make it on the list
Btw thank you so much for making this video I’ve been waiting forever for someone to make a video talking about how good Bon Jovi’s lyrics are🙏

Past year being 40 in music industry; read something where his lyrics compare Jon to the great Renaissance painters; IF you ain't heard, look up "Bitter Wine" from the "These Days" era; there's a line that WILL make you go: WTF???????

Glad there's others who value the lyrics as much as I do when it comes to good songs. Shine makes me think of my wife. I've always loved it and Luv Can.
A Judas kiss simply refers to Judas Iscariot betraying Christ for 30 pieces of silver. He sold out his professing "Lord" for materialistic money. Then he felt the weight and negative consequences of his actions, even wishing to return the money, but it was too late. Teardrop is a mixture of anguish, let down feelings, insignificance, and really a sort of Ecclesiastees type of vibe. (Read it if you haven't before, it's a short Wisdom Text of the Bible). The word vanity used is more accurately described/translated as shortness or brevity, that life is but a vapor.
Living With The Ghost is great lyrically, but I was never huge on some of the instrumental choices. I love how the bridge pretty much wrote itself. I was fortunate to hear it live in 2018!
Mystery Train has some beautiful lyrics. River Runs Dry is an interesting type of song lyrically as well.
My wife loves My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms all around.

@@ericgilbert8725 I did start writing about my guitar lies bleeding so I’ll definitely include it in a part II. River runs dry was also funnily enough on my list of possible songs to do before making the video.
Shine and Luv Can are two of my absolute favourites, I think Jon’s crazy for not at least putting them on the main album.
Really appreciate your input 😁😊 you have great taste

I 100% agree that Jon is a lyrical genius. It's hard to make a list of the best BJ songs as majority of their songs are beautiful, passionate and heartouching or on the other hand funny. In fact I don't know any ugly BJ song. In terms of lyrics sometimes it's difficult to understand it for people like me who are not English native speaker. Sometimes I feel the real deep meaning of the song because of Jon's passionate performance and gestures while singing. Because these lyrics are pictures of his heart if you know what I mean. I would love you to analyse the song My guitair lies bleeding in my arms if you do the second part of your video. This song is also hauntingly beautiful❤ Thanks

I think as a songwriter Jon was smart enough to move in different directions and write songs that moved with the times, especially after “Blaze Of Glory”. Whether you like certain eras or not, but who wants to listen to a guy in the 50s or 60s singing songs about chicks, booze and the rock & roll lifestyle. You can write these songs when you're in your 20s, but after that it gets boring and silly, especially if you're a family man.
