      @@JHeck1989 thanks amigo! Pretty much anything to me on this truck is a breeze been working on Powerstrokes for years, the Cummins is so nice after smashing my hands up all those years. The fuel mileage I get stock just blows my ford out the water. F250 deleted with tunes and stage 2 turbo 450 Hp 360 miles per tank. Same routes in the ram no tune 515 miles per tank. Most of the time i fill up with 26.5 to 27.3 gallons. But yeah man im loving the ram just missing the sound. Emissions warranty just ended and somehow that dang DPF system fell off. I've also got about 2000 lbs of tools and boxes that roll with me daily.

    What did you have to do after gear swap for your truck to shift normal again i went to 4.56 from a 3.42 and a 35 inch tire my tuner said to send him a data log of my truck shift points and he could make me one to shift closer to stock meaning now I shift into over drive and through gears a lot faster now due to higher trans output shaft speeds ect obviously I know it's never going to shift at the same points it did with 3.42 due to higher rpms now but there has to be something you can do to make it more enjoyable to drive without shifting through gears so fast. also have the 68 trans as well I'm sure I'm experiencing a little more earlier shifts then you did due to I'm running a 2 inch smaller tire

    Best video i have seen for sound clips of exhaust on a cummins! I want to go with the 8" BDS 4-link & 37's as well but not sure if the truck will be to high for the police in my state. Every video on here that supposedly has this setup the height looks completely different from truck to truck. In New Hampshire they go by the height of the bottom of the bumper. Is there a chance you could measure from the ground to the bottom of yours? It would be much appreciated. Im not sure if they count the air dam or not so a measurement of both would be great. Thank you so much in advance. Great video (you should make more!) and great truck...

      An 8in lift is HUGE my guy - I had a 5in lift w/ 35s on my 2nd gen and even that was a pain to get in an out of. Also, you can fit 37s on these 4th gen Cummins with a leveling kit and minimal trimming. Good luck!

    Sweet truck Brandon , was wondering where you ordered all your led's from ? And also how you went about installing the cabin filter , Thanks!

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  7 лет назад

      I got my interior LED's off Amazon. I found a package that included all necessary interior LED's for a Ram. They all fit and work great. Installing the cabin air filter is very simple. You just need to pull out the glove box and cut out the area marked on the heater box, then put in the filter and the cap over top. You can read up on it more on it in post #612 of my build thread - www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=151614&page=62

    Hey this is my first vid of watching you and I have 07 cummins with an H&S mini max aswell, Just wondering how much did the tuning cost roughly? How long did they take? Btw sounds great man

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  7 лет назад +1

      Custom tuning typically costs around $150 or so but it depends on the tuner. Then you also need the MCC unlock code which is $300 and I'd recommend the trans tuning unlock code as well which is $200. Turn around time is generally very quick as it's all done via email. They just need your VIN and then they can write the tune file and email it to you. If you want some more information contact Ray Rich at Double R Diesel and let him know I sent you and he can get you taken care of.

    Thinking of doing the 4.56 gears on my truck as I'm also running 37's. Would you say they made a really big improvement in the trucks performance, especially while towing? Thanks

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  7 лет назад

      They were one of the biggest improvements performance wise for sure. I couldn't stand driving it with the 37's and stock 3.73's; swapping to 4.56's made it WAY better to drive. And towing it's pretty much unstoppable. I've pulled this trailer weighing in at +/- 10,000 lbs up 7% grades in 5th gear and don't even slow down. I'm very impressed with how it performs with weight behind it.

    I know this is an older video but I gotta ask, given the chance would you go with this gear ratio again? I just bought a 2018 and I’m planning on getting 35s so i know I’m going to need a regear in the near future

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  4 года назад +2

      If I did it over again I'd probably go with 4.30's for 37's. The 4.56's tow like a beast but are a little low for unloaded highway driving; I'd like to get the rpm back down for those trips when necessary. So it partially comes down to your own needs/setup for the truck and what you plan on doing with it.
      Grimm Jeeper is a good online gear ratio calculator to determine roughly where you'll end up with different gear ratios/tire sizes.

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  7 лет назад

      It's fully stock still with the exception of custom tuning. I haven't had any issues with it so far. I believe the custom tuning definitely helps. I'm running increased line pressure and have changes pretty much all the shift points both up and down to keep the truck running in a good rpm range. Keeping it from lugging at low rpm goes a long ways. Then a big factor is how you drive it. Not mashing the skinny pedal in the overdrive gears (5th or 6th) helps a lot as well.

      Hey bud, don’t pay attention to the last post, John Doe, that’s a pretty ignorant statement to say. Everyone’s finances are different just as much as their choice in a truck. Some finance, some pay cash. I traded in a 2015 SLT CCSB automatic Cummins that was paid for, for a new 2018 CCLB Cummins G56, put down a couple bucks too & only financed $21k. My son bought a 2004 CCLB automatic 2 yrs ago for $19k & paid cash for it so I don’t agree with what that last guy said. Buy what you can afford & work ur way up to what you really want, it’ll make your final purchase worth the hard work.

      Brandon Jansen Not bad. I've heard people claiming 22-24 mpg on the highway at like 70 mph with the newer 6.7 doesn't seem like that could be possible for such a large truck and motor

      the 2013+ trucks with the new ECM and DEF do get far better mileage. I'd say 22-24 mpg is reasonable given the right circumstances however most guys will be lower. I also don't believe anyone that goes solely off the EVIC. Need to use an app or hand calculate to get proper numbers for sure.

    Truck sounds and looks badass man! What would you recommend I do first to a 2012 2500 Cummins automatic? Would like to delete the egr valve and cooler, delete the DPF, and possibly the muffler too. Wasn't aware they had a turbo silencer ring, probably will delete that as well

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks man!
      Deletes are one of the first things I did and I highly recommend it. When you install a delete tuner you have to delete the DPF at the same time. The tuner will turn off the EGR as well but I recommend removing it completely along with the cooler.
      The turbo silencer ring is a bit of a pain to remove. You have to take the compressor housing off the turbo and drill out 3 pins to get it out. Definitely does make the turbo louder though but it's not as clean of a whistle sound as a fixed vane aftermarket turbo.

    Do you have a defuel level set for egts ? If so what temp and where is it located ?

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  5 лет назад +1

      Jeebraa Pskiii nope. Don't run defuels on a MiniMaxx for anything. They only pull pack fuel and not injection timing which is a great way to blow a head gasket. You're better off just watching your gauges and let off a bit if the EGT's are getting too hot.

    • @jeebraapskiii5848
      @jeebraapskiii5848 5 лет назад

      Brandon Jansen what is too hot for a 6.7 cummins ? My pyro is on my manifold right by cylinder 5 and 6 in egr blocker plate. My bully dog gt diesel has defueling so when boost is too high or pyro temp it returns truck to stock tune until it's back in the safe numbers.

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  5 лет назад +1

      Jeebraa Pskiii I'd still turn them off completely. Bully Dog uses the same tuning platform as a MiniMaxx. Returning it to the stock tune fuel level wise doesn't pull back the timing.
      The block off plate typically runs about 100-150 cooler than the collector. In the collector typically 1250 sustained is a good number but it can handle spikes up to 1600 for short periods of time.

    • @jeebraapskiii5848
      @jeebraapskiii5848 5 лет назад

      Brandon Jansen, you got me confused a bit with the timing if my boost gets to high and it defuels even if it only pulls back the fuel I shouldn't blow a head gasket cause it won't explode as hard with less fuel but same timing ? Em I close to right ?
      And with egts, when u say collecter you mean where manifold goes into one right before turbo ? cylinder 5 & 6 are the hottest any way so I probably shouldn't let them get over 1200 ? My truck is all stock other than 5" turbo back straight pipe and the bully dog tuner ? I seen max boost psi was 32 on my truck on stock tune so I set defuel to 34 so it can't go over 33 and I have been running it in performance tune for the most part and noticed a littler high egts when WOT, 940 max sorry if I ask to much questions hehe
      Oh and also can't I keep my defuels on ? because it will kinda help and mainly tell me when I'm pushing to hard so than I can let of cause when it defuels I let off I don't keep on the throttle.

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  5 лет назад +1

      High boost (in this application) isn't what could cause the head gasket to blow. Too much timing with not enough fuel increases combustion pressure which can potentially blow the head gasket. That's why it's best to turn the defuel settings off and just monitor your gauges yourself.
      Yes, the collector of the manifold just before the turbo flange. That's the hottest location and typically about 150°F hotter than having it in the rear block off plate. It's also most accurate as the heat in the turbo is what you're trying to monitor so the closer to the turbo the better.
      32-36 psi sounds about right for your setup. You don't want to push the stock turbo much past that as it becomes inefficient past 36 psi. 34 psi is a good max number to see.
      Again, I would turn all the defuels off and just monitor your gauges and let off when needed.

      If you dont care as much about frills and can wrench a bit, go for a 2nd gen 12v(94-98.5). Simple motor that doesnt throw a fit over a bad ground or some cheap sensor.
      The 24v vp44 (98.5 - 02) are a bit more problematic with expensive electronic fueling issues and other electrical problems (mopar 🤷‍♂️). 3rd gen common rail 5.9's (03-07.5)are nice and a bit less problematic.
      Just try to stay clear of anything around 08 from any manufacturer really (since they were all trying to figure out emissions then)
      No matter what you go with, if its dodge try and find a manual one if you have any plans to tune/tow heavy often. These autos dont stand up to much abuse unless you shell out the cash to build them.

      The difference in size changes the sound. 5" is deeper. Once you get into higher performance than a 5" is required for air flow as well but a 4" works fine to 600-650hp.

      +Bryce May nice! I was just through Mt Vernon last weekend with the truck and trailer. Went down to Bremerton for drag racing.

      No way man! Ive been watching your truck vids for years now and always loved them, that would've been the coolest thing to see your truck in person driving down the road

    How’s the noise inside the cab

    • @brandon.jansen
      @brandon.jansen  3 года назад +2

      The 4” straight pipe got pretty droney in the cab when towing. I ended up swapping to a 5” system with a muffler after this video end it’s a far better setup overall in my opinion.

      @@brandon.jansen I just put the 4" straight pipe on my 6.7 and it's pretty loud..thinking about adding muffler..i love the sound but my neighbors hate me😆

      @@koas8478 totally fair. I ended up switching to a 5” with muffler in 2016. Just never made a video of it. The 4” straight pipe was obnoxiously loud and ended up having quite a bit of drone towing on longer trips.

      @@brandon.jansen just curious..what made you switch to a 5 and not just put muffler on the 4?

      @brandon.jansen  2 года назад

      @@koas8478 wanted the deeper tone of the 5" as well. I ended up getting the pipes full power coated as well so I wanted to start fresh rather than trying to clean up the old 4"

      In this video it was pretty empty so it was around 5500 lbs.

      Variable Geometry Turbo. That's what all the 6.7 Cummins run from the factory. If I remember correctly it's a Holset HE351.

    Could use some grease on that hitch...

      It was greased right after this video. This was the first time out with it this year and I didn't realize it was so dry before hooking up.
