  • Made these a while back for a competition (challenges.rob...) but never finished them. Figured I'd release what I had!
    CHALLENGE 1 - WIPEOUT
Introducing the greatest 2 minutes in robotics - The 2019-2020 game - Vex Robotics Competition - "VEX Wipeout."
VEX Wipeout is played on a 12 foot by 12 foot field by two alliances, one red and one blue, each made up of two teams. The field is set up with 4 parking zones, 2 special scoring zones, 2 scoring rods, and a spinner. The game objects include 16 regular spheres, 2 bonus spheres, 12 blue alliance cubes, and 12 red alliance cubes.
Cubes are 8 inches in diameter. All spheres are also 8 inches in diameter. Scoring rods are 1 foot high, enough to contain three cubes. More can be stacked if desired. The spinner measures 2 feet in total diameter (CHECK), spins freely on a hinge in the center of the field, and has a single yellow panel.
    SCORING
The object of the game is to obtain a higher score than the opposing alliance by stacking cubes in the scoring zones, collecting spheres, stacking on the scoring rods, and by parking the robot at the end of the match.
Cubes stacked on the scoring rods are worth 2 points each. The alliance with the highest stack on either rod at the end of the game earns an additional 10 points. However, if the opposing alliances claims the top of a stack, the points are all theirs.
A single cube in the parking zone is worth 2 points. A stack of 2 cubes is worth 5 points. 3 cubes are worth 10! Every additional cube adds 5 points. The same dominance rules apply - the color of the cube on top owns the stack.
    RULES
Descoring is allowed and encouraged on the scoring rods and wipeout zone, but descoring is NOT allowed in the parking zone. Pinning other robots is not allowed for more than 5 seconds. Robots must fit within an 18-inch cube.
    CHALLENGE 2 - SUSPENSE
Introducing the greatest 2 minutes in robotics - VEX Robotics Competition - SUSPENSE.
VEX SUSPENSE is played on a 12' by 12' field by two alliance, one red and one blue, each made up of two teams. The field is set up with scoring zones of various heights - 18'' low goals, 30'' medium goals, and 42'' high goals. There are 48 team-neutral open chain links and 8 kettle bells, 4 designated for each team.
The object of the game is to obtain a higher score than the opposing alliance by hanging chain links on scoring zones and by hanging kettle bells either on chain links or directly on the high scoring zone.
Chain links are worth 1 point each in the alliance parking zone, 3 points hanging from the low goal, 5 points from the medium goal, and 8 points from the high goal. Kettle bells are worth 3 points in the alliance parking zone, 6 points from the low goal, 10 points from the medium goal, and 15 points from the high goal.
Hanging a robot from the parking zone goal, but below the field wall at the end of driver control is worth 10 points. Hanging a robot above the wall is worth 15 points. Hanging while holding your alliance color kettle bell is worth an additional 10 points.
No matter what, any object that is hanging but touching the ground is worth no points.
