Saw him at the McMillan Library in my hometown a few months back.... He was INCREDIBLE.... He totally opened my eyes to the fact there is FAR more to Guitar playing than just playing fast all the time....
This guy is suuuper picky haha. I love it. I love when guys don't settle and really go for exactly what they want, mixing strings and changing neck wood. He's like the EVH of gypsy jazz
Hey, I think vintage gear is really cool too. But I'm not bothered too much with digital effects, at least not live. The trend I've noticed in these rig demos is that artists use cool old gear in the studio, but rather than breaking all that stuff on the road they use things like the axe-fx live where 99% of the audience won't notice the difference. Cant comment on the zoom specifically since I haven't used it, but it seems comforting to have more effects if you need it. Like the oud imitation.
I wasn't referring to to size. Dedicated spring reverbs break easily (moreso and old school units like the Fender one), are hard to service and is in general not worth the hassle. Especially if you don't need that particular type of reverb, which I'm not sure John Jorgensen actually does. He doesn't specify it in the video, but judging by his music I'd say that he probably uses plate or room instead.

Love to see you play John. Get to the Pacific NW.
We're fortunate to see this set up explained by the master himself, interesting how he sets the mic right on the top of the guitar!
Great player, gear and a stunning ring!!
Definitely loved the pick!!!
Great review. I really like the descriptions John used. I am a gear head so this was a fun interview.
I'd like to see an AL Jourgensen rig rundown
amazing sound!
I use Wegenpicks too. They are all handmade in Holland, and they give a lovely tone to acoustic playing.
Awesome!!!!!

I'd bet touring with a spring reverb unit would suck too.
Wrap to bouzoukaki
probably not shitty since he uses it. John is nowhere near tone-deafness.
Beautiful guitar, great mic's, Radial gear is great, great amp the a SH*TTY Zoom pedal :(
