It’s crazy how Thailand were the world largest rice exporters for so long at the top considering how small the nation is in comparison to countries like china, India, America or Vietnam, both in-term of population and land area. We heard that Thai send rice to help out people in hardships living areas especially to countries at wars like South Korea and Africa in the past and recently to Japan from the horrible earthquakes. The soil in Thailand is so rich with the blessing of suitable climates where most things can be grown from north to south. There’s no wonder why their culinary heritage is outstanding in varieties on eating choices as well as distinctive delicious tasty flavors and the obvious unmistakable unique eyes catching presentation of - to good to eat as a cuisine. Any fresh greens in the uk is soooo boring and expensive. We only get one type of banana on the supermarket shelf for the last 40 years. If we are lucky enough we might get three varieties of oranges to choose from at most. 😢 It was shocking having seen apples and colder fruits from colder regions around the world which are now being grown in testing areas across their northern provinces of the country during our last year summer trip. So, on top of countless fruits and vegetables that you will ritually be lost on for name tracking, the Thai still continues further investment into many more new breeding lineages of edible crops and carry on advancements in high yield production agriculturally. This is amazing. Developing high technology is good. Though, it is much better to concentrate on compromising any new modern technology or scientific research impact to what you already have plenty of as assets. At the end of the day people will still need to eat no matter how exciting the microchip is. Prediction on Food shortages in the future is a big threat and human aren’t robots. If the Thai can produce more with in agriculture this means higher exports revenue that can benefit locals and relying less on foreigners investment in the future. Thai are so lucky to have more than enough Rice, sugarcane, corn, durian and strange exotic looking fruits as well as hundreds more of herbs, spices and leafy salads as part of their diet on a daily basis. Now we understand why the old Thai folks have a pass on saying that = Thai as a country, when you look up across the land there is abundances of rice paddies and when looking down into the rivers there is plenty of fish - so don’t be lazy. This is what my Thai friends taught me. The best of wishes that Thailand will always stay as a prosperous green exporting country and never have to import so much food like the Uk. Dear Indian friends, congratulations on becoming the rice export champion. However, you misunderstood China. In terms of total grain output, China is twice that of India. For any food crop you can think of, China's total output and mu output are higher than that of India. However, China does not need to export primary products such as rice, but to export industrial products after processing and appreciation. China is one of the largest buyers of Indian rice. Indian rice does not meet the taste of Chinese people, but it is an important raw material for animal feed. They are converted into meat products and exported abroad. I hope India can industrialize as soon as possible.
Rice is a water intensive low value crop, that's why it's not smart to export it. As it also takes lots of subsidies to grow. Otherwise US & China has many times higher per acre production.
I am rooting for Thailand as the people are very good. They don't have that excessive pride you see all the time from the first country. I am so sick of it! These people and their ego.

There was a time when I saw first hand Soviet ships in Kandla Port unloading wheat, and then for last decade or so get to see India becoming a major exporter in many food commodities including becoming #1 Milk producer and #2 Fruits producer in the world. 🎉
I'm from the Philippines. So sad to say the country was once one of the leading rice exporters but now we experience rice shortage and imports Rice from neighbouring countries in SE Asia. Rice prices in the market are soaring and the government is struggling to control it. Agriculture is considered one of the poorest sectors in the Philippines.

Growth of India is phenomenal. Till 1978 not in the picture to 2021 , by far the biggest exporter of Rice despite of Corona times. Cheers to Thailand for always maintaining top 3 positions of Rice export and most of the time being no. 1.

Indians designed rice to withstand extensive floods. India have do many regions that flood easily. Many rice fields are designed to flood easily. Along with that India have too much water. India has a big chunk of ganges river delta. The water discharged by that in a year is enough for the whole world to drink. And many water saving missions and smart use of canals and expanding natural rivers to dry regions Made it possible for India to use so much water for rice agriculture and still have plenty of water to use unlike other countries.
I am rooting for Thailand as the people are very good. They don't have that excessive pride you see all the time from the first country. I am so sick of it! These people and their ego.
The other perspective (and irony) : India ranks 111 out of a total of 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2023, with its progress against hunger nearly halted since 2015, reflecting a global trend.
Lol stop being a Bih of western reports. I never understood how they produce these rankings as most of their rankings are laughable n based on their own standards n rules set by them🤣🤦
Agreed, for such a small country and six time lesser number in population to India they did really well to stay in the top three. The exporting jasmine rice amount is nearly as much as India for a good period of years. Finally they decided that it wasn’t worth it. Rich exports took higher investment with lower returns in comparison to durian. On top of this the soil depletion significantly showed heavy impacts on the quality of the harvested rice. The Thai agricultural minister finally decided it was time to move forward onto other economic crops improvement. Ever since then they never look back with any remorse as the Thai durian are now one of the highest revenue in Thai exporting markets.
I still remember.... During late sixties we were importing PL-480 type of wheat from USA where they considered this type of wheat as unfit for consumption even by pigs.... We have come a long way......
Rice isn't eaten daily here in the US and it's mostly grown in the South by states like South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.Rice grown in South Carolina is considered by many to be the best in the world.
Basmati rice of India is considered to be the best in the world that's why it gets more exported to other countries but this year's best rice tag went to Vietnam

Despite Thailand a small country and it's small land mass, the productions for rice is huge compared to Big landmass like India, it's a tough competion untill few years back. Congratulations 🎊
Singapore does not produce Rice. Singapore is only a rice trader. It buys rice from rice producing countries and sells it to importing countries. The rice is shipped out from the principal supplier to the end-buyer. You may correct your incorrect information. The same goes for U.A.E., it produces oil only.

So proud of Indian, Thai and Vietnamese farmers ❤
There was a time when I saw first hand Soviet ships in Kandla Port unloading wheat, and then for last decade or so get to see India becoming a major exporter in many food commodities including becoming #1 Milk producer and #2 Fruits producer in the world.
🎉
All thanks to Green Revolution and Operation Flood.
India is also the world’s largest consumer of Rice. It feeds 1.4billion people and then export.
Look where India was a decade ago and where is India now ❤❤
I'm so proud and thankful to God 🙏🏻

I'm from the Philippines. So sad to say the country was once one of the leading rice exporters but now we experience rice shortage and imports Rice from neighbouring countries in SE Asia. Rice prices in the market are soaring and the government is struggling to control it. Agriculture is considered one of the poorest sectors in the Philippines.
Same here
Agriculture is heavily subsidized in every country. You need strong government support for the sector.
Dats because all Filipinos consume rice 3
to 4 times a day

Rice is a water intensive low value crop, that's why it's not smart to export it. As it also takes lots of subsidies to grow. Otherwise US & China has many times higher per acre production.

Rice is a water intensive corp. No wonder why the super powers backed off.

The other perspective (and irony) : India ranks 111 out of a total of 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2023, with its progress against hunger nearly halted since 2015, reflecting a global trend.
Lol stop being a Bih of western reports. I never understood how they produce these rankings as most of their rankings are laughable n based on their own standards n rules set by them🤣🤦
Those rankings are given by western countries and they just check 2000 -- 3000 people, and giving ranks blindly😂😂😂
Many many Thanks to all farmers all over the world ❤️❤️🙏💐
Rice requires max.water, India should focus on oil seeds, pulses and other productive produces.
Respect to Thailand they compete 😊very well with us
Agreed, for such a small country and six time lesser number in population to India they did really well to stay in the top three.
In Brasil, Rice and Bean are "compulsory" every day.
Basmati rice of India is considered to be the best in the world that's why it gets more exported to other countries but this year's best rice tag went to Vietnam
I think you forgot California...especially in Sacramento Valley which is considered to be the 2nd largest rice field in the US.
You should eat basmati rice better than pizza and burger.
Lol for americans everything made in america is best 😂. Because they are like frogs in a well

A good leadership 🇮🇳 makes big difference
India started Rice export only after 1985 but Pakistani started in 1965. How important it is to have a right government.
Despite Thailand a small country and it's small land mass, the productions for rice is huge compared to Big landmass like India, it's a tough competion untill few years back. Congratulations 🎊
india also has highest rice consumption
Singapore does not produce Rice. Singapore is only a rice trader. It buys rice from rice producing countries and sells it to importing countries. The rice is shipped out from the principal supplier to the end-buyer. You may correct your incorrect information. The same goes for U.A.E., it produces oil only.
