It’s crazy how Thailand were the world largest rice exporters for so long at the top considering how small the nation is in comparison to countries like china, India, America or Vietnam, both in-term of population and land area. We heard that Thai send rice to help out people in hardships living areas especially to countries at wars like South Korea and Africa in the past and recently to Japan from the horrible earthquakes.
The soil in Thailand is so rich with the blessing of suitable climates where most things can be grown from north to south. There’s no wonder why their culinary heritage is outstanding in varieties on eating choices as well as distinctive delicious tasty flavors and the obvious unmistakable unique eyes catching presentation of - to good to eat as a cuisine.
Any fresh greens in the uk is soooo boring and expensive. We only get one type of banana on the supermarket shelf for the last 40 years. If we are lucky enough we might get three varieties of oranges to choose from at most. 😢
It was shocking having seen apples and colder fruits from colder regions around the world which are now being grown in testing areas across their northern provinces of the country during our last year summer trip.
So, on top of countless fruits and vegetables that you will ritually be lost on for name tracking, the Thai still continues further investment into many more new breeding lineages of edible crops and carry on advancements in high yield production agriculturally.
This is amazing. Developing high technology is good. Though, it is much better to concentrate on compromising any new modern technology or scientific research impact to what you already have plenty of as assets.
At the end of the day people will still need to eat no matter how exciting the microchip is. Prediction on Food shortages in the future is a big threat and human aren’t robots.
If the Thai can produce more with in agriculture this means higher exports revenue that can benefit locals and relying less on foreigners investment in the future.
Thai are so lucky to have more than enough Rice, sugarcane, corn, durian and strange exotic looking fruits as well as hundreds more of herbs, spices and leafy salads as part of their diet on a daily basis.
Now we understand why the old Thai folks have a pass on saying that = Thai as a country, when you look up across the land there is abundances of rice paddies and when looking down into the rivers there is plenty of fish - so don’t be lazy. This is what my Thai friends taught me.
The best of wishes that Thailand will always stay as a prosperous green exporting country and never have to import so much food like the Uk.
More importantly, the best of luck for the Thai in striving sustainability living goals as a nation. Many nations around the world are working towards this achievements.
Love this country more each day, particularly from knowledgable vlog content like yours, thanks you ❤❤

But why did Thailand suddenly drop production so quickly?? What happened??

    • @beelouwill303
      @beelouwill303 10 месяцев назад +2

@@Dan-xx5jq we guess there’s loads of reasons, from steering engine towards different business within the sector ie - different in demand stocks market crops that gave higher returns and lower to invest. It could be the changeover demographically from generation to generation or even from climate changed and many more variables.
The recent threat for Thai agriculture in rice exporting we heard was the buildup Chinese dams at the top and along the Mae Khong river which is the heart of the mainland within the region running past four countries.
Unfortunately, it’s very hard to fight against huge Chinese super power as they ritually conquered most of the southeast Asian countries economically. Thai being the only institutional monarchy of democratic and not under communist Politically run like all the other four mainland countries whose are now more or less at peace. So the Thai are quickly loosing favor.
While countries such as Lao, Cambodia and now Myanmar are ritually putting themselves on the plate for china and basically any day on the verge in turning themselves Chinese. This is a well known factor in my favorite friends seating game within that region.
As for the coming decades - the Chinese only need to turn the tap off and on from the yangsi. A mind game that have already started for many years in certain parts of the khong and the situation that could become even worse for all the mainland SEA countries.
As expected, it was the cause of water shortages on top of the drought and flooding for countless Thai farmers in the past decade.
From this recent event Vietnam, which is another country that held political power over Laos & Cambodia can now produces as much amount of jasmine rice and may have taken over the Thai for the first times in rice exports.
A new head on country in competition with china that is backed up by the west. We also noticed how the jasmine rice delivered to the uk has also lately been the produced in Cambodia but seems to be owning by either Chinese or Vietnamese exporting cooperation.
Though, Nonetheless of all the reasons given and regardless obstacles, Thailand is still standing as one of the top 5 rice exporter till date.
On a personal note, At this length of difficulty, Thailand should now aim for an even higher grade of jasmine lineage breed with guarantee on premium quality control because this is what lacking most from Chinese cooperator that run rice farming in countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, Lao and Myanmar.
We truly wanted to see jasmine rice products of Thailand resurfaced with even better head turning quality. When you get a good lot of Thai jasmines, the wonderful rice fragrances, the light fluffy texture and the clean taste on your tongue is just absolutely heavenly divine.
And as stated earlier in my comment that we wishes Thailand all the best in accomplishing sustainability living in all areas of aspect and stays for evergreen = is utter most importance. Seeing all countries progress for the better is a close topic to ours heart.
Sustainability of what might be or - might not be as the last resource in maintaining their position at the top five world rice export, but at least as a nation, every Thais has no need to rely on other for food production being imported in.
All the same goes to Whether it is rice, crop, fruit &veg, herbs, spices and medicines and everything else of nature resources values which currently is an asset to Thailand, doesn’t only benefit the local. In the long term a high green capita space per head can also be a benefit to many more lives around the globe. So long live sustainability to all of us out there.

Dear Indian friends, congratulations on becoming the rice export champion. However, you misunderstood China. In terms of total grain output, China is twice that of India. For any food crop you can think of, China's total output and mu output are higher than that of India. However, China does not need to export primary products such as rice, but to export industrial products after processing and appreciation. China is one of the largest buyers of Indian rice. Indian rice does not meet the taste of Chinese people, but it is an important raw material for animal feed. They are converted into meat products and exported abroad. I hope India can industrialize as soon as possible.

India has a big chunk of ganges river delta. The water discharged by that in a year is enough for the whole world to drink. And many water saving missions and smart use of canals and expanding natural rivers to dry regions Made it possible for India to use so much water for rice agriculture and still have plenty of water to use unlike other countries.

Agreed, for such a small country and six time lesser number in population to India they did really well to stay in the top three. The exporting jasmine rice amount is nearly as much as India for a good period of years. Finally they decided that it wasn’t worth it. Rich exports took higher investment with lower returns in comparison to durian. On top of this the soil depletion significantly showed heavy impacts on the quality of the harvested rice. The Thai agricultural minister finally decided it was time to move forward onto other economic crops improvement. Ever since then they never look back with any remorse as the Thai durian are now one of the highest revenue in Thai exporting markets.
