I have seen a lot of 2910-2011 Grand Sport reviews. The reviews with a manual transmission are the only ones I will watch. If you don’t buy this car with a manual transmission then don’t bother. The car is not for you anyway. Ok….. so I found this review to be spot on. From the #’s that they got from acceleration to the QTR~ 1320…all were maybe a tick slow but well done. If a set of rear tires weren’t over $600.00 I would do burnouts like that all the time as well! Only thing that really needs improvement on all C6 Corvette’s is the lighting. I installed the Morimoto LED front and rear LED headlights and rear lights as well as all four side marker lights and the license plate lights and don’t forget the backup light bulbs as well. It’s all very easy to do with the exception of the front headlights. That’s a big job unless you are really good and have a lift. GS six piston front and four piston rear calipers are track ready. Wow do they have relentless stopping ability. I have a power convertible top which is fun but it eats half my trunk space. I got the car 3 months ago and I never thought of myself as a convertible person but I must say: I like it! It’s fun. I had never been in a convertible my whole life! And it’s relatively quiet. Rides nice. If I really want to quiet her down I just pop the 10 amp fuse back into the fuse box and then the baffles close and all is quiet. This car does NOT have a $70,000.00 interior! And that’s 2010 money! Is GM nuts? But the money was spent where it matters horizontally mounted leaf springs and all!😂🤣. But I got mine with less than 40K on her for $35K which is probably $5K too much but I could now sell her 3 months later for in the $40’s especially with all the high tech LED lighting. What an improvement! Makes the car look like a 2021 model. Buy one after this chip craziness ends……in about 12 months.
Annoyingly incompetent review. I own a Corvette Grand Sport, and it is an amazing sports car, with big power and great handling. The performance is so much higher than other sports cars, that you actually have to learn how to drive it effectively. Expertise is rewarded.
I agree. I'm 17 too, and we've had our 2000 Chevrolet Suburban for almost 10 years now, and it has over 197,000 miles on it. Same situation here too, almost no problems, and it still runs pretty awesome.
It's the other way around, the XLR is on the Corvette platform. And the Corvette does not use the same engine as the CTS-V. The base Corvette, as well as the Grand Sport, use the LS3 engine; the Z06 uses the LS7, and the ZR1 uses the LS9. The current CTS-V uses the supercharged LSA engine, which was derived from the LS9, I believe. And what are you talking about with the E85 stuff? The CTS-V runs on pump gas, just like most other cars. In fact, I don't think it was made to run on E85 at all.
damn! don't know what to get now since they have another version of the vette! if this is only a few grand more expensive than the base c6, then i'd definitely go for this one.
Okay, I don't know the VIN.. I'll try to get it, and.. I have the service records in my glove compartment.. Just oil changes, tire rotations, and annual checkups. I just checked.

(3.8 0-60 to 3.6 0-60?)
@ozgaa What the heck r u talking about, lol. Double clutch as in slip the clutch out a little then pause or slow release speed, then let it all the way, out or just (progressively slip the clutch) to prevent bogging down or popping the clutch and getting too much wheels spin. Usually when a car lacks traction u have to use that technique to keep rpms up & tire spin down. I think u thought I meant something else?
reason i chose to buy my 2010 grandsport over the zo6 is simply because of the targa top. My dream car always had the option of removing the roof at will and the zo6 just doesn't cut that bill. for 70 horsepower more and a few thousand extra dollars without the option of taking off the roof, I got my grandsport and can just add extra boosts to match/surpass the zo6

N/J Do us all a favor and change the tampon. Both cars are good. If you wanted to drive your friends around, get an M3. If you live here in America, and want to have a good RELIABLE daily driver, that could also whoop some serious ass on the racetrack, buy the Chevy Corvette Grand Sport. Simple as that. Both are fine automobiles, suck it up and deal with it.
@762SLR762 Actually the Z06 is 3.7 seconds. Motortrend has all of the incremental test times posted on their site... 3.9 seconds 0-60 for the 2010 GS. Trust me, if all they could do is 4.4 they either had crap weather conditions/high density altitude, or a crap driver.

Why didn't he use the Launch control? All of the 2010 Manual Corvettes have it. I have seen it tested and it works awesome and the 0-60 times for the GS are around 3.9. Oh well.

This is literally the best corvette to date. All the options you could ever want, and you can still throw a blower on there and make 600 at the wheels.
maybe you are referring to the old hona cars, most of Honda cars made from 2001 have transmission problems. and i have a 2001 civic lx and a 2007 accord ex.
That was 4.4 with a street start and no spin at all. That was one easy launch. The LS3 Automatics are times at 4.3 so I would hope with LC, this car could hit 4.0 or 3.9.
The corvette is an amazing car in regards as how much is cost and how is compares (driving wise) to supercars. People flipped when a $60,000 American car beat the legendary ferrari's and lambos etc. that are $180,000+. The quality might not be up to par with supercars but it is still great. And I bet my step-dad feels happy knowing his $50K v8 can hold up with the $300K v12s

yes i have driven a car more than 120bhp. i drive an 06 mustang gt vert to school every day. and every once in a while my dad lets my drive his 2001 c5 zo6. i have ridden in a lot of fast cars. but i don't get to drive them. one point im making is that i would buy a hennessey camaro before the grand sport and if i want a fast car for cheap then thats a c6 z06
So for just ten times the cost, that car will stay in my rearview mirror for a full quarter mile. Fantastic! I probably wouldn't mind having one though.

Motor Trend uses the 1-foot rollout method for their 0-60 numbers. Asphalt conditions, temperature, and altitude all affect 0-60 and 1/4 mile performance making comparisons between road tests unfair.

As a factual matter, it does not accelerate, brake, or handle as well as a Z51 or G/S Vette. You can accuse everyone on this board of bias, but the facts are what they are. I make the soccer mom goof routinely because most M3 buyers "need a back seat" or "need a trunk" and the like. Sports cars are not about practicality -- they're about speed.
It’s so funny looking at the reviews on the c6. It’s like every one of them forgot they were reviewing a Chevy and not a Porsche or Mercedes or bmw. Chevy came out with a car that killed them in every stat that matters. 0-60, 1/4 mile, top speed, even economy. However because while the car had at the time it was made many other more firsts for mass production cars features, such as push to start, Bluetooth phone controls on the wheel, heads up display, it is slammed because of its interior. Let’s be honest, i can sit in my drivers seat all day in my vette and not feel fatigued, i can’t drive near as long in any of my other vehicles i have owned in the last ten years. Let’s try comparing its interior with actual cars in its league. A 2010 Camaro, mustang, charger, and challenger would be a better comparison and just for fun that’s throw the 370z the rx8, the Miata and wrx. Putting those interiors vs the vettes are very comparable. The vette is actually nicer than most of the cars on this list. And let’s not forget the cars the reviewers are comparing the car to in general cost double what the vette cost. A base c6 was 40k in 2010, that put it on par with the boxster, not the 911, hell even at 70k for a fully loaded grand sport you could still buy a base c6 to go with it and still be cheaper by 10k the price of a 911. For the money there simply wasn’t another car in the vettes class, and the models that did cost as much as the cars they were being compared to blew them away on the performance side.
You guys bitching are ridiculous. This was a great review. The truth is the GS doesn't improve any performance numbers over a stock C6. But if you're going to track the car it's worth it for the better brakes, wider wheels and dry-sump oiling (which includes a forged steel crank vs. cast-iron in the base LS3). The GS models LS3 is also hand-built next to the LS7 and LS9. Personally, I would rather buy a used Z06 and improve the suspension.
If they had only let you option in the ZO6 engine as well... Cost is too close to the ZO6... Hate the GS badges... Can get a used Z06 for less... Otherwise I love this car.
The GS just doesn't look right without its stripes. It might as well be a de-steroided Z06. And Velocity Yellow Metallic is a horrible color for any Vette. For some reason every mag that reviews it spends time bitchiing and whining about the steering and the interior. Given how expensive(overpriced) the Porsche 911 is, its interior is nothing special. Especially if the same design is used in the Boxster and Cayman

How can you even compare a Corvette and a Ferrari? You can buy a Vette that will slaughter all but the 599, and buy a house with the balance of the money it takes to buy the 599. Only someone who hadn't earned the money to buy a 599 would actually spend the money it takes to buy one.
Get ride of those run flats & watch 60 go away in 4.0-4.2 & 1/4 in 12.0-12.2. U can tell he has to double clutch it so bad just to keep rpms up & reduce wheel spin. I mean I run 12.7@113 in a stock 04SVT Cobra just by adding drs. This car being hundreds of lbs lighter & with more hp should beat me by more than 0.3sec. Id love to see a car mag test traction deficient cars like ZR1, Z06, GS, GT500s- KR, & SS, Camaros & etc with sticky cup tires like a lot of the super cars are tracked with.
N/J -- You really need to read something sometime. L.A. Times reported in July 2008 that 34% of all cars sold in CA are domestics. This is lower than national average due primarily to the fact that fewer pickups are purchased in California than most of the midwest. My guess is that it is NOT due to Californians possessing some unique and mysterious insight into automotive quality that has somehow eluded the rest of the country. And GM market share is up for the last four straight months.

Almost 70K? Couldn't you get a Z06 for just a little more? I think if I was ever in the market for a Vette I'd get the normal C6 for less. And if I ever wanted more from it, I'd call Hennessey or Lingenfelter lol. Not a bad car though.
Think about how great the M3 could be if it tossed the back seat, added more displacement, tossed some of that cabin weight devoted to unnecessary electronics, and dropped the price $20K. Sounds like -- a Vette.

it depens on the dyno. i ve seen z06 making 413 on a dyno.
for the 0-100 kmh(0-62) only z06 and zr1 can acheive times below 4

Cool, that's pretty good. We get about 18+ on the highway with our Suburban going 65-70 mph. It has a 5.3L V8.

Yes they still make the Z06, in fact you can pick up a low option 2010 for about 69k. I have an 07 and it's a blast to drive.

this is a very nice looking Corvette. Bring the Grand sport idea back to the Corvette sport line was a good idea by GM
I usually cruise at 80 and it gets great gas mileage to.. Probably close to 19 mpg highway and 15 city. For a 5.7L V8, that's pretty damn good.
the corvette is on the same frame as the caddy xlr thats why its so darn fast and it has the same engine as the cts-v wich runs on e85 only

The only way a ZO6 might dyno that low is on a Mustang dyno. The 0-60 is more about traction so the times will certainly range.

So what you're basically getting is a regular Corvette with Z06 looks with some gills all for near Z06 prices and less performance.

What a brilliant car! Best bang for your buck. These same numbers in anything German or Japanese will cost $80Grand+

For some reason every mag that reviews it spends time bitchiing and whining about the steering and the interior. Given how expensive(overpriced) the Porsche 911 is, its interior is nothing special. Especially if the same design is used in the Boxster and Cayman

How can you even compare a Corvette and a Ferrari? You can buy a Vette that will slaughter all but the 599, and buy a house with the balance of the money it takes to buy the 599. Only someone who hadn't earned the money to buy a 599 would actually spend the money it takes to buy one.

I already own a twin turbo C5 vette.
Get ride of those run flats & watch 60 go away in 4.0-4.2 & 1/4 in 12.0-12.2. U can tell he has to double clutch it so bad just to keep rpms up & reduce wheel spin. I mean I run 12.7@113 in a stock 04SVT Cobra just by adding drs. This car being hundreds of lbs lighter & with more hp should beat me by more than 0.3sec. Id love to see a car mag test traction deficient cars like ZR1, Z06, GS, GT500s- KR, & SS, Camaros & etc with sticky cup tires like a lot of the super cars are tracked with.
N/J -- You really need to read something sometime. L.A. Times reported in July 2008 that 34% of all cars sold in CA are domestics. This is lower than national average due primarily to the fact that fewer pickups are purchased in California than most of the midwest. My guess is that it is NOT due to Californians possessing some unique and mysterious insight into automotive quality that has somehow eluded the rest of the country. And GM market share is up for the last four straight months.
i get what you're saying. that the vette is almost as fast as a ferrari and a whole lot cheaper. but people buy ferrari for the prestige it has. example: "I drive a corvette" "Big deal, no one care's"/ "I drive a Ferrari" "drooooll"
most cars will last as long as they're maintained properly and not abused to death
they should have used the launch control for 0-60 and 1/4mile
Almost 70K? Couldn't you get a Z06 for just a little more? I think if I was ever in the market for a Vette I'd get the normal C6 for less. And if I ever wanted more from it, I'd call Hennessey or Lingenfelter lol.

its true i own a vette and i get 30 mpgs. my buddy has a 350z with a small turbo and gets 16!! how sad is that half the hp and half the mpgs

ZR1 not made anymore. they only made 2000 or around there.
those chrome wheels have to go. some 2 piece wheels with a yellow lip and black center would look real good.
I will Take a Z06 over the Gandsport any day lol The LS7 is Incredible. The LS3 is awesome but mediocre in comparison.

I think I would respect Ferrari more if they could actually come up with the performance of a Corvette for the price.

Think about how great the M3 could be if it tossed the back seat, added more displacement, tossed some of that cabin weight devoted to unnecessary electronics, and dropped the price $20K. Sounds like -- a Vette.

launching this machine in 4.4 secs takes a real idiot, it is actually harder to get that claimed time than doing a better one with that kind of a driving machine.
