Baloff leaving Exodus after this and then never recording a single finished album ever again is the saddest thing in music. He was the best. I guess he wasn’t an easy guy to work with.
@@InformationSniper-xb2snI’m aware yes. I meant finished albums with decent production. Piranha had a few songs that are ok. The Heathen demo is absolutely amazing but also just a couple of songs and the quality is shit.
Exodus is equivalent to slayer musically their actually older then the big 4 as a band and they couldn't get bonded released fast enough that album was done I think in 84 the only reason megadeth gets to a part of the big 4 is mustaine's tender with metallica that's also megadeth situation they couldn't get killing out in 84 so it came out in 85 it's all good now the big 4 is really not relevant metallica makes the big bucks and the other bands are comfortable
Definitely. Imagine Bonded By Blood in 84 and this in 86. Exodus would’ve been huge. But in the end they are still the best thrash band ever. I love most of their albums. And the 1997 live album with Baloff on vocals gave us these songs in all of their glory. I just wish they recorded something new during the Baloff reunion era.
I dig Steve Souza, but Paul Baloff to me was Exodus! Even though the almost sound the same. I think Baloffs vocals were more sinister, and he added a demonic hiss in his vocals. Bonded By Blood, is an epic fuckin album!
Tom Hunting is an incredible drummer. Also this shit sounds better than the studio versions lol. I wish they can re-record or remaster this album, it’s mixed pretty muddy and the guitars lacked balls in the end

This sounds exactly like what a natural " Bonded by blood " follow up should had sounded . I was there at the time as a mid teen into Metal and I can recall very vividly why I couldn´t get into "Pleasures of the Flesh " after "Bonded by blood " ...Zetro could never replace Paul in Exodus and plus by then as somebody has already pointed out : "lesser bands " had released more consistent, more sophisticated albums This demo is a great insight into "what could had been " ,if anything. Was Impossible to find this on any trading list back in the day btw .

I agree. I just think people credit zetro so much is because he kinda stepped in when Paul was seen as flailing due to the partying chaos. Zetro had a sense of control sorta, that helped exodus break through into the video world, multiple album continuity. Otherwise, when it comes to Baloff, those that know, KNOW!!!
Best "new" thing I listen to in quite a while! Very nice surprise! Fantastic! It's like hearing the strutter Kiss demo: the album version Is better but the demo has something special. I think I prefer Zetro vocals but Ballof was the creator of these vocal lines, WOW. Also, the production of the drum sound is not so annoying in this demo.

To me, Exodus had a classical record with "Bonded by Blood" and then they continue their carreer with Steve Souza... change their formation a lot of times, until today... but, at least, until 2022 they where a great band... with all the vocalists... my favourite album of the band: "Pleasures of the Flesh"... but love them all
I never understood the hype of Baloff or Bonded By Blood. Seems more like the cool thing to say. Souza killed it on this album. Pleasures of the Flesh is the most underrated Exodus album. It’s raw yet precise. The only flaw was that it was recorded at a low volume for lack of a better term. Trust me, this album will grow on you.
At least for me, BBBB (Baloff plus Bonded By Blood) and Exodus (with the H-Team and Hunting) are the ultimate in the thrash live experience. Nothing tops it.

I can see why Baloff is so popular and respected but he does seem to run out of breath a lot in some live performances. I understand how hard it would be to be a thrash vocalist but it didn't seem to be a problem with their other singers. As @jaymo2511 said, Zetro was incredible on this album. I also agree that this album is often overshadowed by BBB and FD, two 10/10 masterpieces. Pleasures has a TON of really mean, guitar work and entirely brutal drums. It's just too bad the drums on POTF sound off to me. They could have used a bit more reverb or gating. besides the drum production, this album is just as good in terms of guitar riffs along with how threatening and hostile the tone is here.

Their first 5 albums are almost perfection and I did say Exodus with Baloff is as good as it gets live, but Zetro live ties it in quality. Actually to me it's perfect all through TOTD. Then it went downhill.
Possibly in the minority but I think seeds of hate is better with souza. Pleasure of the flesh is 100% better on this demo than the album version though. Would have loved to hear Paul do deranged
