@@curtisphilumalee1447 I think this might be better..at least for me. . *The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset (Live 1973)* - ruclips.net/video/YIlxLO-XjX0/видео.html But each to their own.
This song came out when revival houses in the US and the UK (and to a lesser extent TV) were resuscitating an interest in Golden Age Classic Films and Stars… that nostalgia has largely waned for this generation but it was powerful for the boomers….
Rays songwriting was inspiring. He wrote some jems. I bought The Kinks Low Budget album and ruined it trying to figure out the songs. Especially the Superman song. Another song I loved was a remake by the Pretenders Stop your Sobbing. They don’t get better than that.
The Kinks performed a lot of great music. This show was OK, but didn't include any of that in my opinion. The original studio version of "You Really Got Me" 10 years earlier was a shining example of proto-punk. This episode was during the period between their 2 worst albums "Preservation Act 2" and "Soap Opera", when the band were at their least creative. It wasn't until "Sleepwalker" in 1977, when they returned to form. Ray Davies recorded 2 spectacular solo CDs in the 2000s : "Other People's Lives" and "Working Man's Cafe" that are just as memorable as anything he did with brother Dave in The Kinks.
If you covered him with garbage George Sanders would still have style And if you stamped on Mickey Rooney he would still turn round and smile But please don't tread on dearest Marilyn 'cause she's not very tough She should have been made of iron or steel but she was only made of flesh and blood
Some music ages well and still never really gets old. Perfect example!
Absolutely great song! Kinks were one of the best British Invasion bands.
certainly the most original too! after the first record that is
Ray is one of the greatest story tellers that ever lived
A great homage to the stars of the Golden age of Hollywood
Such a beautiful, wistful, and sad song. The Kinks could go places in songs that other rock bands never could.
Always liked this song from the first time I heard it . 🙏
Love this song 💝

GOD SAVE THE KINKS
Sentimiento en su máxima expresión
Lovely song, lovely voice and instrumentation. Anyone else think Ray looks like Ozzy Osbourne with the hair of the era?
Yeah, it's a great song. I see what you mean about the Ozzy resemblance, too. ✌️

Sleepwalker was a great album. I think I need to play the vinyl tonight. 😃

They always seem to omit this on the live version. I just did it at karaoke last night and it’s in there.
❤
Grupazo!!!
🤘
👍😃
People don’t appreciate the kinks enough
Ray Davies’ masterpiece!!
They just don't write em like that anymore.
LOL! This song was such a joke. We all made fun of our parents' dead idols when it played. (:
Wow you’re kind of an asshole
