Nice to see family HELPING instead of criticizing and wanting to put someone in a home. Good for them. She needs aftercare, of course. I feel hopeful about her.
The full episode has the criticisms and family bickering. The mom caused Sarah to have dissociative personality disorder and they also claimed abuse by her. One of the sadder episodes when watched in it’s entirety

Hoarding is such a complicated condition and definitely a mental health one. Trauma, bereavement, grief etc can all lead to it and recovering takes time and effort. I myself had an issue after losing both parents and grandparents suddenly. It’s taken years to come to terms with and it’s only recently I feel change in myself. I no longer hoard and want to make my home a happy one again. Please don’t judge those who do hoard especially if you don’t know the root cause of why they do it.
I just want to see one episode of hoarders that doesn’t have trash everywhere. Sad that every single person has experienced a tragedy. So sad. Thank God there are programs like this that help. We need more follow up episodes!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I would hope that a property management company would be handling the rentals. She would be a terrible landlord for tenants to have to deal with directly.

Trauma seems to trigger so much. Grief without help is just tragic. I wonder why her children didn't intervene sooner. Once the anger is there, will making mom any madder and end up with this?
I really like this mental health professional. I think some of the others on the series are too passive with the hoarders. He pushes them into making positive decisions for themselves

Respectfully disagree- I think he's very sensationalist and aims to make a "show" of it for A&E. I don't think he truly has the hoarder's best interest in heart.
Whenever this series talks about renting or selling these houses and apartments they have cleaned, it makes me wonder just how many places I have been in that have a coat of paint covering a wall of mold, or at some point had a dead rat in the fridge I am currently using. Every time I move I go over all surfaces in a new place with bleach, but I know some porous surfaces still have gross things lurking.
If I'm understanding correctly, the family & crew ONLY cleared the rentable areas and did not even touch her personal living area, which is the entire upstairs.
Her children chucked all the things but I don't think she really felt why she was in danger and how to work with this desire to keep things (because I am sure she still has it). They did great together, but hoarders really need psychological help too.
Do you want your children to judge you? Do you want to know you’ve let them down? Wouldn’t you rather have a neutral voice for all of you to release pressure? Someone to take a position without blaming? Be real.
This lady can go from apartment to another to make food, go to another to eat, etc...yet has to sit while everyone else is working? This happens in so many of these cases. I also hate when the hoarder finally lets go of the furball or whatever an everyone claps and says “good job” like the person is a 5 year old.
Omg, she is hoarding children as well... Respect for all of them being so supportive and the woman wanting to make the change, but there is something so weird about how they call themselves 11th or 8th child...
The team never seems to say, “you can keep this OR that”, or, “you have 10 of these, how many can you let go”, or, “let’s take a picture of this, and let the thing go”. Always seems to be all or nothing, and a lot of pressure. Not letting the person learn, to be able to do it on their own.
Agreed. I spend a lot of time wondering why photo albums of removed items never feature. Things like that are important tools the hoarder can use for the rest of their lives. Also, the legitimate collections rarely get any attention. One hoarder loved decorative butterflies, and had them all over, from lawn ornaments to fridge magnets. They weren't anywhere close to being the bulk or core of the hoard, but I didn't see a single butterfly in the "after" shots. They even bought her a new, boldly printed comforter, but not a butterfly pattern. Floral. I can bet she went nuts buying new butterfly items as soon as the cameras left. Respecting the tastes of the person and leaving them something of their favorite things (say half the fridge magnet butterflies) teaches them to set limits for themselves, and discourages immediate re-hoarding of loved items.
Well done. I hope she can keep it like that and let out the apartments and dance studio and have time to work part time rather than part time if she wants that and look after herself. I have found taking a photograph eg of my children's toys before throwing them away helped as I can look at them through the photo
This makes me sick. I am a victim of Kathy's. This house should have been condemned. It is full of black mold, very dangerous black mold. I lived in the main house on first floor and had the whole basement. The mold was throughout the whole place. I became very Ill. My son became very Ill. Even my dog will I'll. Upon calling in a Montana state mold inspecter, I was told it was the worst strain he had seen. After checking contamination of all area surfaces I was told to take my son and leave. Not to take anything out of home. I lost everything out of my 4 bedroom home. All furniture, all keepsakes, all of my children's things, clothes photos, everything. As I was so I'll I was not able to take any action. She has put my family's life in danger and all who she rented to. What is worst is that by cleaning up her hoarding, now she has surely causing life time lung and brain damage to how many more. The video shows my kitchen... And no wallpaper etc has even been removed. As I have learned about black mold I can guarantee that her mental issues have evolved so extremely since I moved out. Her not taking responsibility for black mold is unforgivable. Anyone living in her house is in grave danger. Please be advised. 😢😢😢
I think there is something really wrong with the mind of an extreme hoarder. The house will be full of bacteria, germs, insects and dirt if you live like this even for a week. I hope they will always be given help.

She owns all that space and could be making money off apartments
Thank you for sharing this video.
Dorothy is so great! Wish I could hire her.
I think there is something really wrong with the mind of an extreme hoarder. The house will be full of bacteria, germs, insects and dirt if you live like this even for a week. I hope they will always be given help.
I’m pregnant with my first child & I honestly don’t see how she did it 13 more 😂😂😂😂
A hoarder will not accept help from family members. If she terrorsed them when they were younger, nobody is going to tackle this problem.
I love how the word "stuff" is thrown around so much on this show.
Old age makes people very stubborn and illness makes it worst
14 children and OBVIOUSLY no one cared enough to let her live like this for so long. Wtf.
