    Personaly id keep the cj and wheel it the way it is and still build up the Comanche with parts off of a pre built xj as they are everywear and cheaper then a built cj would be

  • @MULIES4EVER
    @MULIES4EVER 6 лет назад +3

    Honestly I respect what you are doing. I want to build a comanche as well but it would literally kill me to tear that CJ apart. I would add it to the collection happily and stick the comanche on the backburner until I could afford the parts to built it also. This video was rad all the way up until the "I'm going to part out my CJ to build my MJ" part. Don't get me wrong, the MJ is going to be awesome. I kind of want to see you fix up and wheel that beast CJ. That would be one of the coolest builds you've done.

    • @mattwells4613
      @mattwells4613 6 лет назад +1

      I absolutely agree! Save the CJ and fix it up a little more. Then you can have more cool vids for the channel and an awesome CJ. I agree to buy a semi-finished or wrecked project to get the parts you want cheaper, but buy something less awesome to tear apart!

  • @TheQuartermaster55

    Hard to see you gut that CJ7, but honestly, I would never build a CJ7 that way to begin with. YJ, sure, TJ, yep. I'm one of those people that love seeing jeeps made into hardcore rigs, but look at CJs like classic cars. I know, I'm weird.

    • @Saya-fs1jo
      @Saya-fs1jo 6 лет назад +1

      yeah I'm with ya there, I'd love a cj like above. but left to my own devices it'd probably stay awefully stock, cupholders seats and 3point belts may be about it(well maybe a 4.0 but externally stock at least)

      hey he can make some interesting stuff, I'd never part out something in that good shape, but it'l defenately be building something interesting.....plus if he happens to have frame and tub laying around for a while, and an mjs running gear maybe hell wind up deciding to price some stuff together. the channel does need a few more cjs, well probably see that from Tim, but it'd be great to see Matt's take on a wrangler

    Matt, first of all let me say yes you did a good thing and that was a great deal with all of the parts. Secondly, you really made me feel good with this video. I knew right away why you bought it and I felt totally justified with my recent purchase. 91 Cherokee with a 6.5 inch lift, 32 inch tires and a 4.0. All for only $750.00!!!The kid didnt know what was wrong with it. Once i changed the fuel pump and the cps it runs great! All i need to do now is get new off road bumpers and a winch and I'm ready for the trails. No other money is required to get it the way I wanted it! Definately a cheap budget build. Thank you Matt. Really. I feel so good about this and I'm glad that you understood the whole idea of saving money. Love your channel. Please keep up the great work!

    I have always wanted a Comanche. It's a jeep... And a small truck. Combined. What's there not to love? The fact you got an CJ7 with all that new hardware and having it equipped with LED lights, spare fuel cells, dual batteries, and all that awesome stuff is amazing. $10,000 vs $18,000+? (to exclude shipping fees and wait time if you were to buy them online) it's way worth it. I dare say you may have gotten a once in a lifetime opportunity on this deal. Especially when the Comancheep will be all done ready to take on the world.
    You're doing what this Jeep lover wants to do: see what happens when you breath a new life into a Comanche. Best wishes on this project! I can't wait to see the end results! 🇺🇸
    Furthermore, I want to go to school to learn how to do all this stuff one day. I've already learned alot watching the channel, since I own a '98 Grand Cherokee Laredo, but man, there's so much work I want to do with it. Makes me wish it were possible to meet you guys. I feel like I'd learn even more. I always look forward to what id learn next on this channel. Other amateur channels are kinda vague and recorded in like the 2000s 😂

    Matt from the parts stand point its a good deal . from the build stand point
    you may be better off by removing the body from the CJ7 and putting the comanche body
    on the full frame. due to the uni body design to handle all that torque from that v8.

    Hate to see a cool 7 go down but I've cut up some good vehicles down through the years. I get the feeling it won't be as quick and dirty as you let on, you'll never be able to throw it together without redoing a bunch. Not because it won't fit, because you can't just let it go. I've watched a lot of your videos and seen your skills and tool collection grow. The builder bug is firmly entrenched now. Just my opinion but this is going to bloom into a bigger job than you are telling yourself. Have fun!

    Good point and something I do frequently, especially around October to January when everyone is selling their incomplete projects for holiday money. Just think of all the time alone in procuring all those parts before you could build each component too! Lastly, sell off some of the stuff you don't need like OnBoard Air and buy a scuba tank for example.

      Jon Kern I missed out on 2 other jeeps in this sort of condition before I was able to snatch this one. Been looking for a while so must have been some Christmas credit card bills that needed paid for them to go up so cheap.

    Wow! That a good plan and you Will save money! I think you got the CJ for a very good price if everything works on it! And there are quality parts on it
    And now you can make vids on how to remove/unimstall part aswell!

    That's how I lucked out buying 01' XJ. for $500 Been setting for a couple of years. Had a lift of 6" blown drive-shaft and Blown transfer-case. Found a transfer-case, new old stock, now get this $250 . 33" BFGs, 90% tread. Front and rear diffs by "Solid" What a score.

    Bad ass. I recently bought a 1996 cherokee on 8" long arm, 3 link up front, 37's on humvee double beadlocks, JCR front and rear bumpers and sliders, 2007 power wagon axles with eaton E Lockers. Paid 5700. I think I did pretty well. I think you did too though.

    All these people saying keep the CJ, but then what would this channel be about, buying someone else's used built jeep and show them off ? Or build a custom jeep step by step while giving useful pointers and how-to's?

    I’m so torn by this! Yes it would be awesome to transfer all of those goodies to the Comancheep, but DAMN what a shame to tear up that CJ!!! It sure looked like you had a big grin on your facing kicking that CJ around, just sayin’! Please give us one good video wheelin’ the 7! I’ve owned an 82 CJ-7, 88 and 94 YJs and currently an 01 XJ that I bought new. So... I’m all for the Cherokee and Manche stuff!!! Love the channel! You, Tim, and Tyler are Badass!!!
    P.S.- One video of the CJ off-road please and thank you

    All valid points of why to buy another Jeep. The money spent will be measured in enjoyment. You can't put a price on having fun! Your editing is really good Matt. Great project and I'm looking forward the the build.

    I love the channel but I hate to see a Comanche getting ripped apart to build a crawler also don’t think a cj7 that has so much money should just be tossed aside after being stripped.

    Good idea? Yes. Bad idea? Yes... I hate to see a great CJ get parted out. However, I LOVE Comanches almost as much as CJs, so... Anyway, I’m glad it’s you and not me tearing apart something I’d love to own. No judgment here! Love the show! Thank you, Matt!!

    I bought a 99 XJ. 165k miles, not to terrible rust. I spent $2000 on it. The kicker is, it came with 35x12.5x15 Mickey Thompsons on 15x10 Pro comp wheels, Rough Country 4.5 long arm kit, 4.56 gears, 230 amp Alt, Banks Exhaust, Optima red top battery. Parts alone well worth the cost of the vehicle. Sometimes buying someone else's project pays off.

      Location, I suspect. Different places, different prices. I sold an XJ on 36s with an Atlas 6:1, Klune-V 4:1, and Detroits front and rear for $4000 (after coming down from $7500 over a year). Bought an XJ to replace it with lunchbox lockers and 35s for $3000 when I realized what a mistake I'd made.

    I found ur channel about a year ago when I first got my 97 Jeep Wrangler and i has to do some easy task and didn’t know how. Now I have rebuilt my rear diff added lockers and dropped the transmission to swap a clutch. Now I’m swapping in an 8.8. Mostly learned all from bleepin Jeep!

    I'm all for takin it apart, it stopped being a cj7 a long time ago. I think for convenience sake and cost it's a solid idea. I don't know if I could stomach that kind of cash leaving my pocket just to tear it apart and such but more power to you!

    For what I have seen a few local guys build their CJs for, you got the CJ right on the money at around 18 to 20 thousand in brand new parts. I believe at 10 thousand you hit the right price of gainable parts and resale items as well.

    I've heard CJ's are hard to come by. Those Dana 60 axles are worth a helluva lot more than $500 a piece. The gear install alone (if you were going to pay for it with the lockers) would probably be around $1000 an axle. My Dana 44 built to super-spec with a detroit in the rear from Curie Industries with chromoly axles set me back almost 3K, and that was just the rear axle. I want to convert it to a selectable locker because I've had some unsavory turn arounds on wet roads. I wish I would have had that done to begin with when I could finance anything I wanted. I have a Detroit LSD I want to put in there but it seems like it doesn't fit and requires some case-spreader action. A video on how to find the right types of axle shops to work on your axles (that is not something I am inclined to OJT on) would be much grass'ed.

    • @waynesanders1406
      @waynesanders1406 6 лет назад

      Side note.... since you got such a great deal why not just keep the CJ7 and do some minor changes if you want with it. You got such a good deal for it you could post it up for sale later on down the road after you've BleepinJeeped it with some low cost elbow grease and hand fab-tools for a great profit. Some people actually collect those older CJ's. I think you're sitting on a potential gold mine. I would look into finding buyers from around the US as a whole if you ever decided to sell it. I bet there's someone watching this video right now that already wants to buy it for more than you spent on it.

    I think the price is very reasonable for what it is. I have a TJ with a LS, 4L60e, 35's etc. $10K wouldn't get me interested in selling it. Hate to see the CJ go but excited to see the Comancheep. Good luck
