    I love buckwheat noodles, I just wish they were not so expensive here.

      These noodles are getting so expensive. Just a couple years ago it was only $1.99 for a very large pack.

      Agreed, a good basic side or main for almost anything! I often eat with soft boiled eggs and any kind of leftover chicken, pork, steak or tofu.

    What can we use instead of perilla oil?

    • @booneprock4952
      @booneprock4952 Год назад +5

      She said earthy and fragrant so maybe like tahini with a little sesame oil

    • @booneprock4952
      @booneprock4952 Год назад +1

      Or maybe like crushed peanuts or walnuts might be good too, won’t be fatty tho would need to add more oil like avocado or a very light olive which would make it taste kinda Italian but yea

      Dashi or similar soup/stock bases are good but are strong, you can dilute with some mirin if you like a bit of sweetness too

      If you don't have perilla oil, add sesame oil. They are from the same family. Perilla oil is more earthy and deep, a very distinct flavor profile. Enjoy!!

      If you want It cold then yes

    • @NeonKue
      @NeonKue Год назад +2

      Yes, rinsing on cold water washes away excess starch and firms up the noodles while stopping the cooking process. Then you can use it for cold or hot broths.

      Pork belly works with almost anything. But this dish is low maintenance cooking to AVOID the heat.
