Thankyou for summarising the evidence and explaining the topic so well. I had forgotten how the relationship between omega 3 and 6 works.. and now I know!! Thankyouuu. Great vid.
Yes! I’m very optimistic about this. As the number of vegans continues to grow and we study them more, we can hopefully make targeted recommendations and highlight the challenges that we can hopefully solve for with innovations and products.
We just converted to vegans after a decade of being veggies. It's a bit of brain damage at first but it's all in the prep!🤗 Knowledge is key, so thank you for this info, very helpful.
Total sync; I have been writing up on omega-3 and this video fits right in 😆 PS I have just introduced walnut oil to my diet for this reason and i looove it!
Hmm I thought canola oil/rapeseed oil is higher in Omega 6, which is contributing to this whole "canola oil is bad movement" bc collectively we have too much omega 6 in our diet and not enough Omega 3. Great video - would love some clarity if possible! :)
The only thing I disagree with is that vegan doctors are strongly recommending against consuming any kind of oil as it builds up plaque in the arteries of the
Maybe there’s a high-quality fat that you could replace the cottage cheese with, and still get the omega-3 from the combination of some other vegan fat and flax seeds… Just an idea
The conversion being slow or inefficient is most likely due to the body carefully regulating how much it really needs. I think all this supplementation frenzy that is going on all over the internet is really without merit. You can actually get all the ALA your body needs on a well planned plant based diet without flax or chia or walnuts which are ok to use in small quantities.

α-linolenic acid (ALA) omega 3s are very poorly absorbed by the human body. The conversion sits at around 10% compared to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It is extremely difficult to get the right amount on a vegan diet.
You acknowledge that plan ALA doesn't convert well to DHA then you go ahead and claim that sprinkling tablespoons chia/flax etc gets you to recommended daily dosage.

So interesting to hear how we convert the different types on Omega 3 fats! Hoping there's more research backed recommendations for vegans!
