Norm, you need to do this, where you have to make a full rod, reel and lure combo - who ever catches the most fish. Or best weight at end of a certain 2 hour or so session.
They should do like a 12-hour fishing contest the day after building them. That would give each one of them ample time to get in the running, as well as giving us plenty of content. Just a montage of every single fish along with weight and score, it would make it even more competitive.

Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could ruclips.net/user/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

I mean even though y'all are some of the best boat builders there is 🤣 I would say there should be some testing. Especially if a 24-hour challenge is going to be done on it

You should colab with world's worst fishing and make your own soft plastics and catch fish on them. Love your content Norm keep up the great work!!!
Instead of everyone doing different parts, this should have been broken up into 3 episodes where everyone has to do the same build (e.g. Ep 1, DIY Lure challenge; Ep 2, DIY Rod challenge; Ep 3, DIY Reel challenge) ...it would level the playing field and would have made a lot more sense. Then a bonus ep where everyone has to combine their DIY builds and do a fish out.

Glad you guys got away from LOJO before he brought all of you down. Apparently he thinks it’s funny and entertaining to liter our waterways. He lost a lot of respect from a lot of people today by throwing his broken reel into the lake. What makes it even worse is that he actually edited that shit into his video like it was just another day. Obviously he doesn’t believe in the LNT (leave no trace).

Next rod build challenge, I would suggest whoever: head to the mailbox area and grab some fiberglass marking rods, stack them and wrap with fabric tape or something similar, add your chosen eyelets with the tape.

6:35 im assuming most wooden poles wont be strong enough for a fishing rod unless they are thick and therefore heavy... u would be better off with bamboo (light and strong)... or a hard wood (more expensive) - im guessing that wood u got is some soft wood like pine or something even weaker & cheaper
