This is very humbling to know that he literally started from being stateless to being able to represent Singapore. I’m a Singaporean and I take things for granted. Thank you for sharing your story.

Respect.. despite of what he went through and being outcast during his initial days in Sg. He did not hold any grudges against Sg but fly our flag and won Gold in the 1997 Sea Games. A true and proud Singaporean..

I have got to know Augustine Lee (and Joan Liew, too) during a business study trip to Ho Chi Minh City in April 2019. He is really a nice person, and he is very passionate about body building and wellness. He did not share about this part of his interesting life. I am grateful that he did bring about glory for Singapore. Thank you very much!

The thing is, bullies in life will look for anything they can find to make you feel bad about yourself lah...so let's say even if you are a Singaporean, these bullies will simply find something else to judge you about. We Singaporeans also have to face negative and judgmental people in our own lives. Doesn't matter if you're a perfect God or Jesus or a Buddha, there will always be people who tries to find fault, or point fingers at you. So that they can feel much better about themselves...after judging you and everyone around them.

    Ignore them lah
People here got a very good taste of success Good leadership and alot of luck to be where we are.
So they have taken all that for granted.
Many have forgotten that this is a migrant nation.
Where people from all over the world came together dug their toes in and built a nation.
One man made dream a reality and SG was very lucky to have MR LKY.
Just because we made it doesn't mean we deny others also who want to integrate with us and call singapore home.

    • @DavidDavid-yz2sh

It seems like u don't know much about history. Engaging migrant to do nothing here? They are still being paid for a job not free u know. We are talking about building a country from scratch nothing but a slump. If u really wanna talk about building buildings then the samsui women is really tougher than your bangala worker, samsui women carrying bricks all day long no such thing as machinery or just like Lego piece it up only by folk lift. Samui women carry the bricks and laid the bricks on top of one another. Wat this ah neh do is so much simpler. To build a inferstruture for a country from nothing is no chicken feed. Foriegner here today is simply doing a job not building a nation. Get that right.

This gentleman said he was bullied just because he is not a Singaporean is humbug. He is a bodybuilder quite big size that l don’t think any dare to bully him. He also complained he couldn’t get job in Singapore.Ofcourse, Jobs are for Singaporeans Only. Last but not least, he said he went for Bodybuilding competios and though he came in First but he was not given the Title because he is not a Singaporean. Now the problem is why he like to use the Singaporean’s name despite he is not a Singaporean. This man must be crazy of Singaporeans.
BTW, l have no qualm that he like to be Singaporean. However he must apply for citizenship before he can be a Singaporean. Pretend to be a Singaporean is an offence in Singaporean. What do you think Flocks?

I believe during his early days, you will need “guanxi” to get into schools n job opportunities, especially when you r stateless. And being bullied~it is everywhere n even now; being at childhood/study/work.
I m saying that his going “tough” has little bearing to his identity status/Singaporean. It is his personal motivation/determination n perseverance that make a success. Kudos for that n be exemplary to youngsters to learn.
