OCTranspo: Hurdman Station Four Corners at Rush Hour

- The City of Ottawa maintains a "bus only" transitway. A major transfer point is the Hurdman Station, located just east of the downtown core. Every bus entering the station must pass through the intersection shown on the video. Just as the rush hour was starting, about four PM, Over 100 buses are shown going through this intersection in less than 10 minutes. That is about one bus every five and half seconds. It is about 10% of the entire city fleet of buses. At the same time pedestrians are trying to cross the road.
It's good to have all the buses back into service and when the stricke is done.
I love the old Hurdman Transitway station too!

I counted 105 buses without the view from the right side corner. That's more than our fixed route fleet!
On September 17th, I took a train from Toronto to Ottawa just to do video at Hurdman. It's not my first time doing video of OC Transpo, but my first time back since most of the articulated fleet was replaced and I wanted to get them documented. I was there from 3:15 to 4:00pm. In that 45 minute period, I got 40 minutes of video. If I didn't have to stop to change corners once due to sun angle, and to rest my fingers... wow!
I miss the old Hurdman station.

We need more LRT as Bus Lanes become congested with more buses.
Complete madness... Trains cannot arrive too soon... And please keep building the OTrain system for the next 20 years.
The citizens of Ottawa have given trains a big thumbs down as it turns out. Service has never been so lousy, as millions of riders abandon transit.
This should be two level underground subway. Bar none. Too bad the auto industry still has a toe hold on OC Transpo over there.

I love the MCI/Nova Classics, New Flyer D40's, D60LF's, Inveros and the Orion VI buses in this videos!!! Well I don't like the Orion 5's that much, they have severe rust and corrosion issues. I also hate the NovaBus 1st generations also.

wow, and I did the bulk of my OC Transpo video at MacKenzie King bridge, at the intersection of Waller St and the Transitway. I should have done some video on that intersection. Where is the station, relative to your camera position?

Hurdman Station from those days is now long gone. The station was behind the cameraman.
I wish the LRT never existed in the first place.
It’s a massive headache mess that Ottawa wasted billions of taxpayer dollars. 😆
And it is about to get worse with the new Line 2. Trip time to the airport goes from 32 minutes to 52 minutes. That is further hundreds of millions of wasted spending. Meanwhile, in Toronto, you can get downtown from the airport in 25 minutes.
