Just an idea: take a prepped gum tape container and make a silicone mold, then cast it with a transparent resin then it can be underlit with a UV led strip light, and with grooves painted with glow in the dark paint will have a nice glow.
Just seeing this for the first time. This is an inspired vision matched only by its deft and skilled execution. Fantastic piece and a professionally produced video as well. Great job. Subscribed.
Love this build mate...Great paint work effects. A structure that many forget when building, mainly because its a bit dull, is a communications array. Towers, dishes, dipole antenna...lots of warning lights on the tops of tall structures...communication sheds....could be interesting.
I love this! I've been watching your videos all afternoon, and even though I seem to be going backwards in order of your builds, I'm getting more and more impressed! I love the light highlights you do, and this works really well! Have you considered including LED lights in your projects as well? Keep up the amazing work!
Great build! Though at 17:00 I was saying to myself "That vid screen needs a decal showing the outputs for the generators or something." Edit: Ah, just got to 20:03. Carry on, Imperial Citizen. Nothing to see here. Seriously though, the level of detail those cast bits add to the plumbing pipes, makes them look like something you'd have to 3d print or shell out a couple hundred bucks to GW for!
Haha that really made me smile. And ueah completely agree - the molds are a really noce way to add some detail and a great alternative for those without a 3d printer
Third time in 2 days I’m telling you how much fun it is watching you build things. I love it. On this one I kept hoping to see you pull out some copper metallic paint to do some of the pipes here and there. Awesome fun. Don’t stop!
The thing I like best is the crossed cables at the top of each generator arm. I can just hear the foreman saying, oh god, Frank, you installed every one of those zliborg panel sets backwards, didn't you? Aaaaall right, let's see how we can fix this. Love the graphy panel detail, too. Never less than awesome.
I wondered why i haven't seen these plasma balls showing up anywhere yet.. now you've done it.. there's gonna be 15 other videos using them. but you were first! great creativity my friend! Now just find an old broken microwave and turn up the amps.. then put two of them near each other and watch the sparks fly! that would be awesome.
Haha I had the idea a little while back but I have to laugh, it seems the plasma ball has made a big come back this year. They are everywhere haha. Appreciate the kind words 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it. I guess I try to make videos in a way that I like to watch myself. And I make mistakes constantly but in making those mistakes, I also learn loads. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
That has blown my Xmas socks off! What an incredible piece! Your imagination and attention to detail are really special, this whole project had me riveted from start to finish, I could watch you make these amazing worlds all day long. I loved it.
I build terrain and sell it on ebay have done for years, I would have only changed 2 things, 1, I would have made the cardboard look like concrete as the imperfections in it would have looked more natural, 2, I would have added some micro LEDs to the build maybe a few spot lights or maybe some red hazard lights. Apart from that they look awesome, and the things I would have changed don't take away from just how good these are. Well done.
Thanks Storm, there are always things I could have done differently but that's the challenge when building for youtube sometimes. Time is a huge constraint. I completely agree with your suggestions. How does has your selling on ebay gone? Good business? I would love to see some of your stuff. Thanks for watching.
@@creativecuts7803 And I feel you do a fantastic job doing it.. I have watched your vids for a long time didn't realise I wasn't subbed until today, so I have corrected that. As for work it goes well I only do it in my free time but the stuff I sell, sells well.. even more so during our collective time at home. The only problem I have which I'm now changing is due to the material I use or used, Ultra cal 30, which is brilliant to build with yet the post people seem to always find a way to brake the models. So we are now switching to resin, and let's hope it goes well lol.
Cheers Keith, thanks forbwatching and I have really been wanting to try some black 3.0. Looks like a very cool product. I will have to order some. Thanks for the suggestion 👍
@@creativecuts7803 Glad to be of help. FWIW, another option for hiding switches is to use a reed switch, which will close when a magnet is brought near to it. You can wire it in series between the regular switch and the power source to make adding it easier. One option is to put the reed switch behind a (ferrous) metal plate and put the magnet on the bottom of a piece of the structure. When you put that piece into place, the magnet will both hold it to the plate and turn the circuit on.
Absolutely class, this is a great example of creative minded makers , to user a item and instinctively know it will work for something completely different Amazing
Haha you and me both. I imagine some far flung futuristic tech that our simple human minds cannot yet comprehend. Thanks for taking the time to watch and happy Christmas
For expansion, you gotta figure out what the generator's powering. Star wars style ion cannon, mech factory, residential substation on a hive world.... Gotta have a reason to have all that juice. People don't make (presumably unstable) power installations at great expense and risk in the middle of nowhere for no reason, so gotta figure out the reason(s)
Cheers man, now I'm kicking myself haha this on a redish orange planet would indeed look amazing. Alien landscape is now on the list of things to build
Haha cheers!! I was really happy with this little set. It took me down a path that involved some complicated maths, which left me scratching my head a few times but everything is learning right?
Absolutely awesome! Definitely going to have a go at something like this myself. Right up my street. Thanks for all the brilliant videos and have a great Christmas mate. 👍
Dude this is really cool! This gets my imagination running wild, I wonder if there’s a way to influence where the plasma arcs go to make it look like the vitamin caps are drawing the power to them. You know how when you touch the bulbs the arcs follow your fingers?
Cheers man, thanks for watching. I will definitely go into detail when I use them next. But it's an acrylic resin from green stuff world. 3 parts resin to one part water. And mixes up similar to a fine plaster. Pour and then sets in approx 30 mins. Hope that helps a bit in the mean time
How about some LED lights ? The cheap battery ones from pound land , could leave as they are or paint the lights to create different colour lights such as hazard lights or just helipad light style
I want to be in orbit [at the VERY least] if that thing blows! Btw when applying jewellery/rivets I always put a blob of CA glue on a bit of plastic etc and dip the 'rivets' in it. I use a very sharp scalpel point to stab/pick them up and touch them to the glue then into place on the model. Sometimes they fall off the scalpel and sometimes they get left behind on the blob of glue, but its a quicker method when you get the hang of it.
