- Hi Guys, In this video I build a Space Shuttle launch tower and use a toy I bought from the Charity shop for £5. What I ended up building surprised even myself and just goes to show if you push your ideas, anything is possible. If you have any questions about materials or techniques, feel free to give me a shout in the comments.

Thanks for watching Хобби
I love it. Reminds me of the Cosmodrome from Destiny.
Cool. I'm glad it sparked your imagination. Thanks for watching
I love this space shuttle and silo. They look so realistic.
Thank you
Trust your imagination and have courage to think outside the box.
Right in the feels
😉👍
nice remake of that model well done.
Thanks David really appreciate you taking the time to watch 👍
That’s a great emotion to think :”what happend, where is the crew, did somebody survived?
Thanks a lot for your creative spirit!❤
Like something out of Horizon Zero Dawn, very cool!
Cheers dude. I'm glad it fired up your imagination. Thanks for watching
This is so great! It feels like a movie!
👍👍👍
I keep coming back to this Video. Possibly my Favourite build. Its amazing.
Your ability to add vegetation is what really puts your builds on the next level.
Thanks you so much! My next build is already underway and will have some really nice vegetation haha
Excellent build. I like the paint bottle holder in back as I watched. lol
Hahaha thank you. I have lots of paint and lots of holders to store it. Maybe I will do a quick video showing my set up?
Nice! The AK Streaking Grime and weathering enamels are great.
Yeah dude, ak for weathering, dirty down for rust and I'm good to go. Sure over the years I have tried out most different products and in the past often opted for something cheaper but those 2 brands are 100% my go to 👍
Hauntingly Beautiful!
Thanks dude much appreciated 👍
Amazing love the use of roots
Thank you! Cheers! 👍
Great job on this build, very inspiring.
👍👍👍
Awesome... Add some Slitherfangs and it looks like the scene from Horizon Forbidden West...
Thank for watching 👍
Trabajo fantastico👍
👍👍👍
A fine job of rust and rot . I really enjoyed watching your journey and creative process! I like Star Trek and it would be cool to see you work up a scene with a derelict starship or Klingons or both!
I also loved Startrek growing up. Next generation, DS9 and voyager mainly. I will put it on the list. It is an ever growing list but something I would love to do
Great build from a broken toy that probably would of ended up in the trash eventually. Great way to use those natural roots and mosses to create a look of time passing this technology by. I think a few things on the top deck of a person who was using this as a vantage point. Perhaps a broken rung on the ladder and a skeleton at the bottom would tell a mini story of the rusty decay of this piece. Another cool add on might of been a eagle or ospreys nest at the top of the tower or even on the nose of the shuttle or booster.
For those wanting to add the over grown vine look that might not have the roots dried out or moss. You can use twine at the base is wide as you go up take it apart and run the single strings as the smaller vines branching out. Some PVA glue glopped in here and there use spices and tea from a bag for leaves the slightly different colors look amazingly realistic oregano and parsley tea slightly different sizes of leaves looks nice.
I like it man. You clearly have a strong imagination and think creatively. In hindsight yeah a min story within the piece would work really well. Still learning but always welcome new ideas. Thank you
@@creativecuts7803 You're welcome. That's the funny thing about this hobby another person sees things that you don't. When you're the one building your mind is on construction what colors to paint it ect ect ect. I get done with builds and think damn I could of done this or added that. Sometimes you work on a build and keep it totally under wraps other times they show a wip. The feedback you get can be very good at times. Waiting for your next vid happy crafting.
This build gave me inspiration for the next chapter of a sci-fi D&D campaign I've been running for 3 years. Thanks! You really don't know how your work Sparks the imagination. I'm now on the prowl for a spaceship of my own 🔥🔥🔥💯
Dude, I'm so happy it sparked something in you. Sound like a fun campaign and wish you all the best of luck with it. 🤘👍
This is sooo very cool. Love the decay and how things morph into something else.
Thanks 👍
@@creativecuts7803 you are welcome. I’m just about to release my second set of terrain and launch my channel. Your video is very inspirational as I want to have a clean look, then craft a decayed abandoned version of the same set. Part of it will be sculpted and the other part decayed. Thank you for your work. Learning a lot, I’m a total noob to the hobby.
Very very nice nice job.
Thanks Tom. Appreciate you stopping by 👍
Your builds are inspiring, thank you for sharing.
Honestly, this makes me think of rocket town from final fantasy 7 more than anything else
Haha its amazing the connections people make. I've had final fantasy, fallout and a bunch of others. Main thing it sparks the imagination
Fred kudos again I would look great on any gaming top excellent job
Cheers man. Always appreciated. Happy with this one
Absolutely incredible. Nice work.
Very cool!
Cheers mate!
There were ares of cape Canaveral, with remnants of the Apollo and earlier projects that looked very much like this. During the. Tour, the guides referred to alligators as their " volunteer security force."
That sounds wild!! Could be a cool idea for a build. Some Alligator guardians of some old relic. Sounds like a place I DON'T want to be but fun to imagine.
awesome build
👍👍👍
Super impressive, very well done! To be honest I wasn’t really feeling the color scheme until you started adding the slimy green and the foliage - then it instantly looked amazing. Inspiring, thanks for sharing!
Cheers dude, in all truth I wasn't sure either and then it kind of all came together. As if I'd planned it all along haha
That was awesome! Once again you amaze my friend.. What about a rave diorama with DJ, MC’s, crowd, lights etc.. I have never seen one.. Would love to make one however don’t have your skills 😂
Hahaha that would certainly be a challenge. I'll be picking up a 3d printer in the new year so it could be something I tackle then. 👍
Love this! Looks like something Severian might find near the Matachin Tower of the Torturers Guild in Shadow of the Torturer. Also reminds me of Thundarr the Barbarian. Classic. Well done.
Awesome
👍👍👍
Wicked cool!
You are a true master of the craft!
Haha I'm just gluing my fingers together and having fun. Far from a master and still much to learn but enjoying myself which is the main thing
Hi. Great work. I love that you did this on the Shuttle but for some reason, I'm oddly offended that you chose a concept like this for The Space Shuttle. The materials that the Space Shuttles were made from could not rust in the way you have depicted them. I realize that for you, you are creating a thing of fantasy but still, the skin of Shuttles were highly specialized ceramic tiles made to withstand intense heat. I can't believe that they would rust like that, so complete. I'd believe that large boosters might but not the Shuttle itself. That's my 2 cents worth. Still, I have watched other videos of yours and you are very inspiring. Thanks very much.
Rex I completely hear your point and didn't mean to offend. On a chemical level, no, it probably wouldn't rust. But in 40,000 years some heavy decay would probably occur, in that time who knows what kind of planetary events may have taken place and what planet this is actually on. Maybe the atmosphere of this planet has has high concentrations of iron in it and maybe that's what caused the rust. As you said it's a world of make believe so anything is possible I guess haha. Thanks for watching
Because your Vidieso
I really like Embroidery Mesh
👍👍👍
Killer job.
They say good art creates an emotional response. I love the space shuttles and to see one in such a condition definitely inspires a sense of hopelessness and despair. Makes me very sad. Awesome job!
Haha thanks
this is a model I'd love to find in _Horizon: Forbidden West!_
Awesome and detailed build!
Thanks, glad it tickled your imagination
I was thinking the same thing.
Just got into this hobby
Welcome, it is lots of fun and can be really rewarding. Good luck and always happy to answer any questions.
Great work.
I would really like to know what the makers of this children's toy think about it being re-purposed into this incredible diorama?
I bet they never would have anything as awesome as this!
Haha yeah I dont think they had this in mind but I really enjoy repurposing stuff I find on my travels. Surprise myself a lot of the time too to be honest haha
This is the most awesome build i have seen for a long time ! You deserve way more views !
That is very kind of you to say. Glad you enjoyed it
Love the final result - very haunting. Such a great way to repurpose an old toy too!
Cheers! It looks great on a gaming table and I'm really happy that I went down the abandoned route.
Good work 👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!👍
Great project. I really like the decaying direction you went with. There is always something intriguing seeing something presumably important and valuable that gets left to neglect and decay. Thanks for another video!
Very welcome Orland, glad you liked it. It did take a bit of an unexpected turn but really happy with the result
truly mesmerising to watch. As I see your vision come to life I cant help but start building a mental image of the surrounding world. base transport trucks, decaying with no tires. Tall trees that have grown around over many years, a highway bridge in the distance collapsed by weathering. You have an amazing talent of portraying what you imagine. 👏💯
I really love it when my build stimulate imagination in others. Thanks again!!
Very detailed work, but I must point out that space shuttles were made of aluminum, and the heat resistant tiles were composite; neither will rust.
So excited!!!
Thanks 👍
Great build! Love the moss and rust interplay
Thanks for watching. I'm really happy with how it turned out and looks amazing on the tabletop.
well I'm not good with words but this is incredible, I love the end result, the rust looks so real and the moss is so well placed - post-apocalyptic is my favorite genre of stuff lol
You are plenty good with words. It was a very fun project to work on and I surprised myself with the direction it took. But very happy with the result
Would love to see more like this. Amazing!
Much more on the way. Plenty of builds coming!!
I love your work and your relaxing vibes, definitely gonna binge the rest of your videos!
Drive right in my friend. There is enough chaos in the world, I try to provide a little peaceful escape where possible. Thanks for watching 👍
Your building would fit well in a fallout game, and your playlist in a Witcher one !
Impressive build, especially the weathering and foliage!
Love the project especially the pain scheme!
Thanks, happy you liked it. More coming soon
@@creativecuts7803 you are welcome! Can’t wait!
This turned out so good! Love the nature taking back over theme and I may just have to try that rust product. Great lighting and shots at the end too!
Dude, it is an honour to have you here. The rust is by a company called Dirty Down - fantastic stuff. And to have you boost my film and lighting work is a true compliment. I know you know how much goes into it all.
That is epic. I was really wondering how you'd turn a plastic junk toy into something cool. You pulled it off brilliantly. Well done.
Thanks, great name by the way haha. Its always a bit of a journey into the unknown I guess. Never have too detailed a plan, but trust in the creative process and occasionally it works out nicely. My studio is littered with abandoned projects haha
This one's very cool. I love space and the shuttle so this one was one of my favorites so far. Makes me want to give this a try.. Great job bud
Nice one dude. I love space too. Saw this toy in a charity shop and thought I could make something nice with it. It kinda took on a life of its own. But really happy with the results
Absolutly awesome project and beautiful result. But it lacks something special... Some figures to tell a story... Maybe in a faraway future timetravellers came back to the remains that ones was the earth we know...
I use it as terrain for my table top games like Warhammer 40K, so it sees plenty of action haha. If just presented as a diorama you could even make an argument to say that such a vast passage of time has passed that all human life has long since perished and only the relics of the past survive. Maybe its not even on earth? But I love your suggestion too. That's the fun thing about creativity and Art, everything is subjective. thanks for taking the time to watch!
Fantastically done!
You are so damn good so it makes many others in this genre appear as amateurs! Good work Sir!!
Truly humbled. Very kind of you to say. Just having fun gluing my fingers together haha
Do space shuttles actually rust? I have to admit I've never tried one :).
I do love the fact that someone seems to have got there before you and stolen all the heat resistant tiles from the undersides of the wings.
Haha probably not. But who knows what a space shuttle would look like in 40,000 years. Either way it makes a nice centre piece for my table. 👍
@@creativecuts7803 It certainly will!
Well no, the outer layers are almost all composite, while the inside is made from aircraft grade aluminum.
But I agree this looks hella amazing
Very good project you get better on every build inspiring .
Now what can you do next something like the flying monastery.
Yes that sounds good.👽🚀
Sir Bob - glad you liked it. I got a jungle build coming up next and it is coming along nicely. 🤘👍
Very inspirational. Been wanting to get into kitbashing and model painting. Would you mind if I try and recreate it?
By all means. Would love to see the results. I'm glad it was a source of inspiration to you
Just fantastic! How big is that shuttle and rocket?
Thanks dude, it's pretty big. Approximately 30cm high. Quite imposing but makes a great centre piece 👍
I’m not into gaming at all but I love the art and the craft of it all. Love the channel!
@@5150clone That means even more to me then. The fact that you can still enjoy my strange little adventures for the sake of creativity is fantastic. Many more videos to come
Back story of it: humanity is trying to escape earth from a zombie apocalypse but didn’t succeed and got over run by zombies part 2 in 10 likes
Haha love it 👍👍👍
What brand is that shuttle? It’s pretty cool
I think its by Matchbox but not positive.
Have you ever tried Gorrillia Hot Glue Sticks
I haven't. But I use gorilla woof and super glue and never have any complaints. Quality products
if you cut towards yourself like an adult you have more control over your cuts, cut away from the body is something you teach children until they are proficient enough to use it the right way
Indeed. I have cut myself many times. Learned the lessons haha
Ehh maybe not 40k but maybe a fallout tabletop rpg game set in either norther Alabama or in central Florida cause both places have a lot of nasa facilities like Florida has cape Canaveral and Alabama has the space force hq up in Huntsville or will not sure if it’s finished building yet
Haha its my imaginary world so I make the rules but I hear your point
Is there a reason not to color before the sand and gravel on the ground?
Not really. You can do it either way, you don't even have to colour the sand/gravel if you have the right colours but it can help achieve an even finish if everything is painted. The paint doesn't need to be heavy though. Even just a light tint can allow the natural variation of colour to show through but shift the colour to what you desire. Hope that helps a little
The toy is Matchbox Mega Rig Space Shuttle Mission Playset Spaceship Vintage 2008 MBX
Your welcome
Skills
Not very convincing, there is nothing on the Shuttle or any spacecraft that will rust. Fantasy aside, it still needs to be believable to work.
Phenomenal build!! Maybe you could do some Organic work - like the floating hollow tree with the ruins. That's my fav. As always, Thank you for building, filming, editing and posting (there's more work than we really see) and finally sharing it with us. 'til next time friend.
Thanks Michael, always appreciated. This was gonna be a quick build in between bigger projects but it turned out much better than expected.
