This is my favorite song ever. I used to go out of town on business trips and would listen to this song every day until I could get back home to my wife and children.

I love Josh Garrels' music, but watching him perform these songs is so much better than just listening to the album. The amount of emotion he puts into it is awesome! LOVE IT!! :D
He is my favorite Christian artist. This song and “Heaven’s Knife”, our wedding song, are our favorites. He was a gem I stumbled on many years ago and I pray more artists emerge out of this season of pain with beautiful songs like this.

Some how this song gently breaks your heart and puts it back together again. And stranger yet you some how find some kind of pleasure in it. It touches the inner most part of the soul.
I know that not everybody feels this way and they don't get it the same way that I do.

Gosh after you listen to Josh Garells, you can't go back; nothing else can ever compare again...in both lyrics and music/style.
This song is sung from the viewpoint of Ulysses from the epic the Odyssey in which he journeys home from the battle of Troy to his beloved family and wife. Along the way he is cursed by Neptune and endures the perils of the water. He is shipwrecked, left for dead, sees the darkest nights, encounters sirens, all which delay his journey home. It just so happens that this song is a beautiful metaphor to Christ and the church, and that is what i believe Josh Garrels intended his lyrics to reflect.

I quickly fell in love with Josh after hearing "The Resistance" one time. Slowly I delved into his music to uncover bit by bit the stunning beauty and depth he's presented.... and about 2 weeks after I first heard of him, I finally got around to this song.... and fell in love all over again. I think it was one of the few times in my life that a song powerfully moved me to tears of longing and hope.

I cried! Since we were small girls we've been told fairy tales and heard all about knights in shining armour that would come and rescue us from our castles. We grow up and sometimes crash against a wall that will literally break us in two. Not all men are knights. Yet, there are some of them, a few of them who don't even wear armours or shine that much, truly fight for our love. This song pretty much is the closest resemblance to them. Literally. Men who go through grief and toil and deep ocean waters to get to their beloved.

***** You know, people are saying a lot of things about the song's meaning, but I feel like remembering God's work and love for us through the melancholy we feel for the one we love can be the perfect interpretation; at least it is to me.
I truly love someone who I met single at first, but after some months, now she just assumed dating someone else publicly after turning me off, because she already knew and was feeling something for him and never felt anything special for me, plus I feel like she never believed on my words, yet I always treated her like she is the most important woman to me; I was really that knight you just mentioned, but that weren't enough... for now.
Today, I notice that everything is part of God's plan to grow me up; he has put on my life the girl I've always wanted by my side and then pushed her away from me so I could learn that His love is sufficient. Now, I still love her more than before and thanks to God I'm learning to love and follow Him. I don't know, but I just don't feel, I see through God's word and experiences with Him that she'll be mine on the near future.
I truly believe through God's word that, if I push forward on growing up every part of my life as a person, putting Him at first and if I keep this dream alive in my heart, everything that He wants from me; regardless of who she's dating now... He can make this happen for me. I mean, I'm not saying that God "should" destroy a relationship to make another one happen, but anything He does is for the good of us and I'm pretty sure that if this dream comes true, it will happen on a good way for both sides.
One thing is for certain: His word says that we should never give up on whatever we are dreaming on, because He can make anything happen through His favor/grace, as long as we're following and reveling on Him... I never ceased to believe that I am her knight and I'll get there eventually.

I was blessed to hear Josh in concert in Dawsonville, Georgia last year and look forward to seeing him again this Friday night in Athens, GA. What an incredible talent. I listen to josh garrels most days on the bus on the way to work and watch the world go by, one day I forgot to pick up my player and a woman asked me what I was always listening to as she'd noticed me smiling so much in the morning, I explained and the next day she was so enthusiastic about what she'd discovered later that day, just spreading a bit more of that love all around. Cant wait for the next installment
