Piper! You are a true man of God, one who gives Him what is rightfully His. I on behalf of the many who I am sure love you, thank you for your preaching and your willingness to speak the truth. Aletheia. I do not agree with your reticence in standing up to this ol world's plunge into immorality. I vehemently disagree with your articles on political issues. Yet it's as a brother who loves you still.
And the music of the song "Though You Slay me" is greatly inspiring and that which I go to as a favorite. There is no greater call or wonder than loving Jesus Christ and being known by Him. May you all be blessed in the joy of treasuring Christ above all things.
The song implies that we could forgive him unconditionally, but I don't believe humans can forgive unconditionally.
There is a breaking point for all of us where we can no longer forgive unless a condition is met.
What conditions does God ask for to forgive us?

My only Son was murdered on 10/26/2018. When I returned to work 2weeks later. I was in the elevator and a coworker got in and said, “where have you been I haven’t seen you,” I told him about my Son. His hug felt as though it was from my Son. Shortly after arriving at my desk he emailed me this song and I played it all day with tears streaming down my face and I’ve never stopped listening to this song to this day because it carried me through that day of returning to work. Thank you God for Angels even on my job. This song is very Powerful. Now I know how God felt when His Only Son died on the cross. It’s Hurts but though you slay me yet will I trust you! ❤

Hello my friend in Jesus 😢 Jesus weeps with us in the brokenness we find ower selfs. The hurt is so bad that you fealike you want to just go home to God. I was so lost.
The woman I loved
No longer loved me. After nearly 5 years of faithfulness she didn’t love me anymore.
I was struck with unbearable spasms and back pain that made it almost impossible to move. I was jobless and depressed and in constant inescapable pain.
I chose to get drunk and wanted to drive off the freeway; off a cliff and die, but as I let go of the wheel of my truck going 70+miles an hour my truck kept going straight as I cried out to God “this hurts”, and the song “Lord, I need You” came on Pandora.
I felt the comfort of Jesus all around me, reminding me that the kid He saved at 15 years old wasn’t out of His sight. He never left me.
After all these years of fornication, drunkenness and sin the Lord didn’t abandon me.
I died that day, and came alive in Christ.
Now I preach the Gospel of Jesus to people all over the world.
No amount of pain is meaningless
GOD is greater and He cares for you far more than you could ever imagine ❤️🙏🏾

Im only 16, I don't have many huge tragedies, my faith has had tests, but not like the loss of a child or parent. My heart aches for my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ experiencing grief or tragedy. I can only hope that the Lord will use my future pain and experiences for His glory. I pray my experiences, and how I praised God through them can help aid me in sharing the gospel. Helping my brothers and sisters in Christ hopefully though being a christian counselor, or wherever else the Lord takes me. Praying for yall, I'm here if any of you need anything:)

She was 5 months short from graduating high school. 2 1/2 months after she had passed, I was on the brink of ending my life, until the Lord showed up in my garage and regenerated me when I heard A pastor on RUclips say, Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God almighty, who was and is and is to come 3 times. I was born again that night and I have never felt more comfort and peace in my life. This song makes me weep uncontrollably. Not only did He save me from ending my life, He saved me from eternal damnation. Thank you, Lord Jesus my savior. I will praise You through all my sufferings in this world and am eternally greatful!

Brother I weep every time I hear this song. God saved me in the middle of the desert in Afghanistan in 2005. I was bleeding out for two hours before seeing a surgeon. The unit flew my wife to Germany because they did not know if I would make it. Somewhere over the Atlantic with my wife laying next to me on stretcher inside a C141. I know the sin He saved me from. There are no words to express my love for my Creator, Redeemer, Savior, and Lord. I love you Brother, YBIC
This was the last song I heard my son play and sing at church before he left this world to be in the loving arms of his Father. I feel that even though his death was unexpected it was his last words to my heart to never even on my darkest day quit loving God because He has not abandoned me.

My one year old son went to be with the Lord this past Saturday. This song has been immensely encouraging. Yet will I see him again because of Christ!
I’m praying for you and your family today, brother. My best friend lost her daughter a month after her birth, and it shredded all of us. It will be 19 years this April since Gracie went home to her Heavenly Father, and we still feel an emptiness where she should have been growing up next to my own daughter. And yet, G-D continues to work in our grief. I can tell you that her death was a turning for my own faith, changing the way I understood my relationship with G-D and this broken world. I know nothing will remove the pain of losing your little boy, but I pray that G-D will give you a supernatural peace and allow you to rest in His love.

God bless you beloved sister in Christ. As I’m typing this my husband is laying in a hospital bed fighting cancer. We’ve been together for 19 years. He’s my best friend and my love I’m doing my best to focus on the Kingdom of God, but watching him in pain is so hard. We have 4 beautiful babies, 18, 12, 7 and 4. I know our God is so good and his mercies are new every morning. He has a plan for us in this all. He’s carrying me through these trenches right now but it’s been hard.

I’ve legit lost everything since giving my life to God. I’ve lost my best friend, Dad, grandma and tons of other loved ones. I was diagnosed with cancer at 40 last year. Don't tell me God doesn't use any means to let you know he is always with you and has a plan. In all my misery and pain, God is still blessing me. In fact my cancer has lead to many conversations with the lost that would have otherwise not happened. Thank you for this song. Hello all, I am thankful for your encouragement and prayers. It’s been a while since I have been here. I was drawn here this morning. My wife continues to be sustained by the grace of God. She still hasn’t gotten the transplant but we continue to wait upon the Lord, Blessings to you all🙏🙏
It has been over 10 years now when I lost my best friend in a tragic accident. At that same time I was going through a divorce and I turned to drinking thinking it would fix the problem but the heartache was still there in the morning. I went down a dark road for a while and one day a friend I didn’t talk to much showed up at my house and talked to me and prayed over me. That’s when I changed my life and gave it all to god. I know my best friend is with his pop and walking the beautiful streets of Heaven. I also was able to remarry my wife and we now have 4 beautiful kids, and a testimony that we have used to help other marriages. Our God is so awesome!!!
My son David, the third was taken from me on Christmas day of 2020. He died in a car from a fentanyl overdose in a snow covered car 8 feet away from hotel windows and no one seen him to save him. I prayed for years for his battle of addiction and I thought God had his back and everything would work out. I am destroyed and my faith is tested and I will never understand why God Took such a blessing from me but I will continue to keep my eyes on him. This song hits home for sure.

I’ve had pain in my life since I can remember starting with sexual abuse for years as a little girl by a family member, to physical and verbal abuse in my home, domestic violence, alcohol, then I grew up and the mental health struggles started, the addictions, infertility, so much more. I met God in 2018 and my life has continued to be filled with more painful situations that now include my son who is not developing typically and there’s so much uncertainty. My only son, the one I prayed for and the only one I will have due to my age. My health is also deteorating in ways that seem so meaningless like losing all the hair in my scalp and not being able to make ends meet now that I stay home to take care of my son and I can only work part time. Not to mention a burnt out husband.
Glad I found Pastor’s Sermon and comments led me to this song. I don’t feel alone right now. Jesus is by our side. We are loved. I will keep praising my Lord in the storm. He is my Peace.

December 1st 2023, I had a massive Basilar artery stroke, and not expected to. Five days later, I walked out of the hospital. I had a vision of heaven and Jesus. God never leaves a situation negative. He takes affliction and tragedy and makes something positive from that...if we are His, and following Him. They said I should have died. He said, "Jeff Lives". They say, but He says...I am crying right now because I am praying for you, brother, sister, mom, dad, young man, young lady. Please, I beg you, come to Him; come back to Him, and lay it down. No matter where you are at, no matter what you've done, no matter what you've been through...He's waiting just for you. Amen 🙏
I haven’t been able to listen to this song for a year until this Sunday in church. In fact, they played this version. A year ago we lost everything in a fire. We always said our home and things could be gone at any minute, and they were. We were so blessed to all have made it out that night. There was deep pain last year for each of us, painful struggles with insurance, difficulty shepherding our hearts and our kids, but my Heavenly Father walked with us step by step… In the first month we were overwhelmed and broken with others blessings. In the midst of huge struggles with insurance, My God chose to do the impossible and deliver us. The Lord chose to bless us through one of the hardest years and prayerful we blessed those around us.
With tears in my eyes at church, I finally was in a situation where this song, although still a tender wound, spoke healing to me and comfort. And even if we weren’t redeemed on this earth with some stuff, we were always ok with it. What a road and so many things to still learn from. Thank you Father.

This song was sent to me from a pastors wife. She knows all that I’ve gone through with my health. I grieve the old healthy me. Over 22 years of the continuous giving up part of my independences. One thing that cannot be taking away is my faith. I may have down days, months, God always reminds me I’m here for you.
I had a miscarriage at five months pregnant and was in labor last Wednesday to deliver my baby. My husband and I prayed for my delivery to be safe and quick, and the Lord answered.
The hardest thing was walking out of the hospital without my baby boy. I miss carrying him, I miss talking to him. I don't understand why this happened to us, but I trust the Lord and His plans. Through all my pain, I will still praise the Lord.

I lost my nine day old nephew today. He was born perfectly healthy, but once he was brought home two days after his birth, he contracted an extremely rare type of meningitis. The bacteria infected his brain, causing him to seize uncontrollably for days. The NICU ended up putting him in a medically induced coma. Because of covid restrictions, only the mother (my sister), was allowed to be near her son. The father was terribly ill with the same bacteria and in the ER at the same time. The little boy fought hard, but his heart couldn't take all the extreme medications it was on. And this morning his heart stopped while being held in his mother's arms.
Now my sweet little nephew is in the arms of Jesus and my precious grandma that helped raise my sister and I who passed away unexpectedly and suddenly this September.
Though He slay me and my family, yet I will praise Him.

My mom died this year, at age 51 from uncurable cancer. She suffered with it for 5 years, with other health issues at the same time. She was in agony a lot. I'm 22 years old, and moved out on my own a year ago. Life is tough. But songs like these mean a lot and help. Also obviously, the fact that i believe in Jesus, helps a lot. I don't know where I'd be without God, and i don't even wanna think about it.
I keep replaying the part where John Piper speaks. It's an amazing and comforting message in this life full of pain. Our pain is not meaningless, none of it.

I too have that same haunting question about those I have lost over the years but I seek refuge from such thoughts by reminding myself of His great love and mercy; mercy that I personally have experienced. And how His decisions flow out from that goodness & mercy. So we can relax and simply trust Him as a child of His that He will always do what is best and knowing it is impossible for Him to make a bad decision about our loved ones. On September 18th of this year, the woman who discipled me passed away. Today makes one month that she’s been gone. Today also would’ve been her 60th birthday. I’ve never known pain like this before. But, she ran her race for the glory of God! I will continue to do the same ✝️❤️

Reading these comments of all the affliction people have faced, and looking at all the affliction in my life of the very thing John talks about. Knowing it is all TEMPORARY, and through it all brings God more glory. If my life is filled with affliction for the rest of my life, if I am slain, taken from, or ruined, I will worship the one who’s in control of it all who has it all in hands. Jesus, thank you for the momentary affliction that seems so big in this life that I know is all temporary compared to the kingdom go come.
After my son passed away in the NICU I was ready to give up on God and life, but he’s the only thing that really got me and my husband through it. And that was just our first year of marriage. “Why oh God did you choose me to carry this grief” I would ask. But years later I see all the blessings from God, one being my daughter.
My heart breaks for my brothers and sisters who are grieving loss. You will one day be together again., until then we earnestly wait to be in His glory.

It's been a little over 11 years since I lost my Dad. This video was posted about two weeks before his passing. A friend of mine sent it to me because they knew I enjoyed Shane and Shane. I listened to it once and didn't think much of it until the day my Dad passed away. My world was turned upside down but I was reminded of the message of this video. I come from a family of pastors. I was very close to my grandfather who was a pastor. My uncle and brother are also pastors. But little did we all know that my orphan spirit and rebellion was caused by sexual abuse when I was young... I have been leading worship since I was 9, I am now 26. Honestly, I was just watching videos of internet memes and things that were not edifying or gratifying. I come across this in my suggestions and I am suddenly reminded today how much beauty there is. How I should be spending my time dwelling in His glory. Though I slay myself through sins of the flesh, here I am feeling like I want to weep in His presence. I love my father in heaven and everything He has and everythin He will do for me that leads me to glorify Him.

This is the call of the Christian Life after you turn to Him. There is no “if” with the trials and burdens of life, only a “when.” But when they do, we know where our hope rests, and so we rest there as well.
I will die of stage 4 renal failure at some point. Dialysis can only carry me so far. On top of that I have other issues that prevent me from having a decent quality of life because I am paraplegic in a wheelchair with stage 4 pressure sores on my bottom. I'm in constant pain and unable to withstand sitting in my chair for a long periods of time so visiting friends traveling and strenuous outdoor activities are no longer an option for me. Through it all I find my smile in my dog and in the people I love. I'm from the south namely West Texas. My grandmother was the kindest most God-fearing woman I have ever known placing her trust in Jesus Christ. I grew up singing with her at the senior center every Wednesday learning the power of gospel music and the beautiful songs of worship that still resonate through my soul as an adult. My grandmother is gone now she's been gone since 2004. But I never let go of the stength that she gave me. I have made many mistakes and disappointed a lot of people but I always pick myself up when I fall and realize that Jesus Christ is the only way to peace and happiness in heaven. God bless all of you who reads this know that life is precious and beautiful and endearing and that all of you are children of God and all you have to do is speak to him and feel his presence and accept his son and his sacrifice. At times I'm afraid but at others I know that I will be in the loving arms of Christ Jesus. Everyone please have a good night...

I don’t think Shane and Shane are after fame. They’re just normal guys with guitars that love the Lord, and that’s what we like about them. No harm intended.
@@HardWorkingKat I get where you're coming from, and the argument can certainly be made that this doesn't compare musically to those you cited and many more...but first, there's no accounting for taste. I know, that's why horrible music like most of what's in the top 40 (or 100) continues to bespoil our ears year after year--but surely you don't think THIS (especially given its lyrical content) deserves the sort of contempt that does. Second, the lyrics and "embarrassing to listen to" music (and of course John Piper's words) are sufficient to move many a Christian to tears, to serious reflection upon their faith and relationship to Christ, and so on.
So from a musician's standpoint, sure, it MAY deserve a dislike. But I submit to you that from the more important spiritual and theological standpoints, it deserves a huge like. And in my book anyway, the latter easily outweighs the former.

My 9 year old grand daughter was killed May 26 2024 in a car accident where the other driver veered head on into my family killing my girl, her best friend, and other grandpa. 30 months ago my then 3 year old autistic son got diagnosed with cancer.
Throughout the last 30 months this has been the theme song for our family, this played on repeat at the hospital as he screamed at nurses, not understanding why they were sticking him with needles, as he freaked out when his hair started falling out, as I forcibly forced a mask on his face so he'd go under for surgery, as he threw up, as he didn't smile for weeks on end, this song was playing in the background.
It's been 30 months, in the middle of that our third child was born with a mutation in his x-chromosome that only 2 other people in the world have, which took a while to diagnose, we almost lost him fairly early on, but this condition is the reason for his underdeveloped brain, his inability to eat via his mouth, his lack of muscle and organ strength and according to the doctors will probably result in a short life.
3 days after his birth I had to give an easter sermon, with raw wounds but celebrating an eternal comfort with 1 hour to prepare, I might just watch it now that I think about it, haven't watched it since then.
This song has been such a blessing to our family, we are Icelandic, and even our mostly non-verbal now 6 year old son can sing along with it in English.
Chemo has just come to an end, and our third child is still with us... Praise God no matter how your situation changes, because he does not and is worthy of all praise.
